SA is bad at LoL

THE CALLOUTS

also the only reason why i'm so high is because I win rgv locals. I've consistently gotten 9th at every state tourney i've been to in the past year (which isn't necessarily that great). IMO dakpo's placing should be where you had it with the small events being large ones xyro. Saying that he's b tier is pretty laughable.

I've seen the evils of Lol and WoW firsthand.

It can be done.

Well D tier ain't exactly trash and there haven't been a buttload of results from Neon lately.

It takes time and attendance. I went from F tier to C tier in like 2 or 3 updates?

This should be updated once every four days, then once more the day after each update for maximum pointlessness.

Sync, you play PO? Do you have a different name on there or are you just never on when I am?

Sync.

I believe I made a few posts before, with images of example brackets in fact, on why I chose to have loser's give out less points than winners. Long story short when I first wrote the program I tested the data; I checked numbers to see if they looked right. Before the change to loser bracket matches, certain people were escalated to top 10 when they shouldn't have been. So I adjusted the point exchanged for losers to account for that (seemed logical with twice as many loser bracket sets as winners). Afterwards, the numbers looked fine.

Now, we have a lot more data. I can see where and why you think losers counting for half isn't "fair" or makes any sense what-so-ever. I would like to investigate the issue. To do this, I'd like Xyro to send me his settings.config and a .zip of all of his tio files (shouldn't be that large). You can upload to some site and have me download if you want.

Since you're interested about trying to help determine the 'k' value for losers bracket, I'll go ahead and show one good solution. The idea is to cut the 'k' value in half for the first round of the tournament, making it the same value as loser's. (ie. The k value for the very 1st round is 6. All matches in loser's still have a k value of 6 and all remaining matches in winner's keep their k value of 12.)

If you count the first round of the tournament as a round in the winner's bracket, the number of rounds in the loser's bracket as a function of rounds in winner's looks like so:

L = (2 x W) - 1

In a nutshell, there are 2 corresponding rounds in losers for every round in winners except for in one spot, that is the first round of the tournament. To further support that the first round of the tournament is the round that only has 1 loser bracket counter-part, consider where you earn your wins in tournament affect your placing. As you're aware, if a player gets to grand finals entirely through winner's bracket, they do not have to play as many matches then if you were to lose the first round of the tournament and then climb you're way up. This means, that the player in loser's will actually have a higher number of wins than the player in winner's win they meet.

This implies that the wins in winner's are more valuable than in losers. If in a 16 man tournament, if you were to

win -> win -> win -> lose -> lose,

you would place 3rd as opposed to

lose -> win -> win -> win -> lose

which would get you 5th place.

In both scenarios, the players have the same number of wins and the same number of losses, but the player that stayed in winner's longer was rewarded with a higher placing. This is because each win in winner's is worth 2 wins in loser's as far as placing is concerned except for one spot... the first round of the tournament. The top scenario shows the player win the first round and then 2 more rounds in winners, while the bottom scenario shows the player only win 3 rounds in losers.

To further prove that the first round doesn't affect your overall placing as much, consider the 16 man tournament again. If you were to win -> lose -> lose, you would place 9th. But if you were to lose -> win -> lose you would also place 9th!!! :o Even if in a large tournament, if you were to

win -> lose -> win -> win -> win -> win -> lose

instead of..

lose -> win -> win -> win -> win -> win -> lose

you would place the same! The first round doesn't affect your placing as much other than gives you another opportunity to be put into loser's bracket. The last question is how does this fix the ratings for F-tier? To explain what has been going on, F-tier has been like a sink hole. Once you start to dip in it, your seeding immediately suffers and you often have to play against A or S-tier the first round of the tournament. This is perfectly acceptable. The problem is that you're losing to them in a match that is worth 12 = k. Then, you are expected to grind through losers earning only 6 = k a match. At first, it would seem like it shouldn't matter because losing to a player with a higher skill than you would mean you would lose less points and balance things out, but you realize that this is not the truth. The same logic failed for good players farming through loser's bracket. They would get more points by beating many player's in loser's than beating a few player's in winner's. As of now, the sink hole almost guarantees that a player who drops into F-tier will remain there until their skill level reaches that of about C-tier or top of D-tier. After that, the player will jump up in ranking after a few tournaments. (Paw and Tesh are good evidence of this) If actually read this Zac and/or Xyro, thank you. I hope you implement this solution because I believe it is a very accurate one and I believe it will mold the list to better represent the truth. This will be better than tinkering with k values to mold the list to forcefully resemble what we think is correct.

I'm not "Texas CloverLeaf" on there. 0_o
I have about fifty names on there, but I usually use "SkyPirateCoud" or "CloverLeaf".

You'd know if it was me from the bad DP-era team with the Toxistaller Clefable.
