I'd rather they use melee's engine for SSB4
you can't outlive me in something that has yet to be started, I am refering to live about 5min into teds suggested hardcore terraria run where death means out. In this I recon I could outlive you, all I have to do is ask Ted to dig a hole, chuck a bomb down there and say he wants to check the blast radius. Or build a moat of lava and then I will question your abilities as you try to jump over it.

They probably wouldnt use an older engine for the new smash. I hope they work on the physics this time though.

I personally have no idea, but i did have teds theory in my mind. I wouldn't like the game to be too much like melee, but maybe a bit more technical in brawl. Like an inbetween.

i like brawl... 
itd be "better" and "flashier" if it was as fast paced as melee is, but in the first place i dont know why people even compare the two. melee and brawl are two completely different games (unfortunately) and must be played in quite different ways so it isnt really fair to compare brawl to melee and say its ****

Yeah, you cant really compare them due to their completely different physics and such. I just don't enjoy brawls gimmicks like tripping, nothing worse than tripping more than 4 times in one minute (yes this happened to me in a tournament match before.) Although I still play anyways, so eh.
Maybe something might get reveled tonight at E3, although doubtful since sakurai just finished kid icarus uprising.

No Luke you're wrong. You also can't compare Street Fighter 4 to Street Fighter Alpha 3 because there are parries in Alpha 3 thus the games are completely different and anyone who compares them is stupid as this change gives the game completely different fundamentals and required skill sets.

no, and you make a good point with project M so now i dont really care what engine they use as long as it is a good balanced smash game which can be played competitively with a lot of depth

you should, dragging Ricky with you, go to qld instead that weekend for wintersmash.
also there is a chance i will be going to ACL in melbourne Invisi, depends on work
It is very likely i will get the weekend off following ACL. if so i plan on running my july weekend meet in which we can celebrate teds birthday, go to the casino and if someone hosts a tourney that sunday that would be awesome and give toki the excuse he needs to get here.
With the june weekend meet i will have to wait till my next roster comes out (17th june)to know if i am working monday to see if people can stay the night sunday, but as things are at the moment a one day meet sunday 24th seems good to go.

They confirmed ACL right after I booked flights to sydney. Derp. But I d choose to visit Ricky over a tournament anyday.
I've missed 4/5 tournaments this year already lawl. Just always timed when I'm going away.
I don't have the money for wintersmash anyway nor housing. Plus Ricky wouldn't want to go.

Brawl's engine was just rebuilt from melee's engine using that physics engine suite thing that just about everybody uses.
if the game came out now, I'm sure most of us would get it, but 4~ish years is a long time (although with the WiiU supposedly coming out this year I have a feeling its going to get pushed as quickly as possible, so who knows). In 4ish years some of us could even be married with young kids (crazy!). Most of the actives would be past university (a a lot of us do go to university) so who knows where our interests would lie at that point.

To whoever complained about Luke, you are a ****ing idiot. He has been a huge part of this scene for longer than you have probably been in it. He is an extremely respected player by everyone that isn't a ****** in the Australian scene and while he can be harsh, you clearly deserved it for being so ****ing dumb that you'd do something that got him perma-banned like that. **** you and anyone you collaborated with to get this to happen.

If we could have a better explanation to why this happened, can it be posted here please? I mean sure, maybe he did one bad post, but it surely wasn't permanent ban worthy at all.
I, uh... what? I don't even. Sure, Luke's often quite blunt, but most of the time I find him to be quite a helpful person. And I don't think what he said a few pages ago warrants anything past a warning, let-a-lone a perm ban. I, too, would like to see an explanation for this. I'm assuming a ban is reversible, maybe we can get this sorted out.

Luke is the ACT scene. When Luke stopped playing smash for a brief period, the ACT stopped playing smash. At the same time the Sydney scene dwindled partially due to the fact ACT members were no longer traveling for tournaments. Recently Luke's picked up melee more seriously and it's no surprise that he was able to single-handedly revive the ACT smash scene; and the Sydney scene has been growing again since. If one person holds so much influence over a large amount of smashers then he definitely deserves respect.
Yeah Luke is blunt, he's brutally honest, but sometimes people need to be put in their place. You can't come into a scene being rude and obnoxious and expect people to react positively. Respect has to be earned. If Luke has been banned for the recent events in the Sydney forums then whichever mod banned him is an ignorant idiot - as is whoever reported him. If he was banned for some other reason then I too would like an explanation.

wtf, it should say in lukes PMs what he was infracted for and by whom. i would liek to know this and why a mod that nobody has heard of is infracting luke. explanation please.

I had hoped to have done a writeup before it went though, but uni assignments makes fools of us all.
Basically, we'd received numerous complaints about Luke's behaviour. We were given plenty of examples of his constant negative behaviour, as recent including the day of his banning to weeks and weeks ago. He has been consistently abusive to a wide range of members of different states, in a wide range of threads, doing whatever he can to tear people down.
He's a big part of the ACT smash scene, no doubt, but being banned from SWF doesn't ban him from playing the game. He's still able to host tournaments and be at events, he's just no longer going to bring his inflammatory behaviour here and trash talk others. It's at the point where large numbers are leaving simply because of the behaviour he brings.
You might be thinking 'Well why not just infract him then?' He's been infracted an ample number of times, and been banned as well. His behaviour hasn't changed and has never shown any interest or intent to.
If you wish to appeal about this, I urge you to contact the admins in forum support, rather than here, as you'll be more likely to receive a reply there (because A: The other admins generally don't visit the aussie rooms, B: I'm dealing with exams right now, and C: forum support is checked frequently)
