So the 3DS is out in Japan tomorrow. I envy them.

It's also being sold unofficially right now in places like Hong Kong.

Why can't I use my keys on the touch screen of the 3DS? I can do it with my DS lite! This is a rip off trying to get you to buy more stylus! No buy!

Seems the backwards compatability is so great it works with R4 devices. Whoops.

Are you ****ing serious.

Now I have 0 reasons to keep my DSi. Yay!

It's not actually surprising, the loophole in the better flashcarts is that the DS just thinks it's a real game, so there really isn't a reliable way to block it.

I generally consider it a rule of thumb that it's not worth dropping several hundred dollars on a new console at launch due to a vast majority of the launch library being little more than tech demos. It usually takes a year or two for enough worthwhile titles to come out on the console to warrant a purchase.
Yeah...there are some exceptions to this, though.

Ps2 was a pretty good on buy console.
Wii was a pretty good on buy console (I liked Brawl, Zelda, etc)

But for the most part your right, I never buy consoles on launch. I have to say though, this and NGP look to be very good handhelds, though this is what I'm seeing:

LD 3DS models for first party games, and later down the line better batteries(maybe the older models can support them D:)

Better Battery/Way cheaper price NGP. I also see glitches, it is Sony.

All this to say I'll probably get a 3DS by the end of the year...

I don't know, I personally think that the PS2 was only worth getting at launch if you wanted a cheap DVD trailer. Honestly, at launch the most spectacular games were TimeSplitters 1 and SSX.

Wii was a pretty good on buy console (I liked Brawl, Zelda, etc)
Wii was pretty lackluster with it's launch titles too, but TP made up for everything else IMO.

All this to say I'll probably get a 3DS by the end of the year...
I'm not sure about that for me. We'll see if enough games I want for it are out by the end of the year. I'm really not that big of a hand-held gamer, I didn't get a DS until 2009.

Frankly, the only launch game I want for the 3DS is Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles.

Well can you really justify a console release with one or two good games? I mean, for me...three good games (8/10) would justify a good release. Not like you're gonna spend all that cash right away to get every single game out there.

Only PS2 game I remember on release was Tekken Tag...that was very fun.

Well I'm pre-ordering mine along with SSF IV. I can wait for the major releases so I don't mind buying it at launch day.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, but what's an R4 device?

It's a brand of flashcart that can be used for loading homebrew or NDS games from a micro SD card.

Speaking of flashcarts: CyclosDS' iEvolution works on 3DS.

So today at Nintendo's conference at GDC, they announced a new Mario game for the 3DS. It'll be made by the same team who made Mario Galaxy and it hints at the return of the famous racoon outfit from SMB3.

And on top of that, the graphics from the four screenshots we saw seem to be around where Galaxy's graphics were.

Considering Short Mario is back, fingers crossed it'd be back of the traditional 'get hit, become small, get hit again, die' health system of the classic games. Liked that more than the health bar thing.

We got a thread for the game yet?

Not yet, but I think we should wait for a trailer before giving it it's own topic.

Sega Game Gear and NEC TurboExpress [portable TurboGrafx-16] games are confirmed for the 3DS. Netflix videos are also confirmed, but won't be using the 3D [yet]. For the former, Columns, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Drift 2, Shinobi, and Dragon Crystal have been announced as launch titles.

Hopefully we'll be seeing some others, I assume with NEC and Sega supporting it that, Neo Geo might be considering submitting Neo Geo Pocket and Neo Geo Pocket Color games, too. (Maybe we'll even see Game Boy Advance [most likely], Wonderswan/Wonderswan Color, or N-Gage [least likely], in the future. I'd hope for that.)

Awesome! I was just saying the other day to someone that I hoped that game came out on it as I never played it.
Well, if you have a Gamecube, you can get Sonic DX: Director's Cut. You can unlock all of the Sonic Game Gear titles over the course of the game. I also noticed that it's available on Steam for $9, but I don't own that version so I can't tell you if it comes with the Game Gear games and other bonus content . . . . . .

SADX was good bro. The controls and Big were the main issues.

The original Dreamcast game was better from what I've heard.

Considering the pattern of early adoptions, Anyway, I'm gonna wait a while before I get this handheld.

That, the not so exciting launch window, and I'm worried that the 3D on that handheld may be very unhealthy for your eyes, which I feel that the latter will be addressed in the next iteration.

The game was equal to the dreamcast version. The only thing different was the graphics, no matter what you read online. If there's any one thing to make DX inferior, it's because they replaced short sonic with tall sonic.

And yes there will be a zelda 3ds On June 7th. ;)

That's not what I'm talking about. I know Ocarina of Time comes out June 7th, but I don't know if we'll get a commemorative 3DS for the Zelda 25th anniversary.

Due to the 25th anni, and the fact some key games like Zelda come out later, I'm waiting on LE 3DS...
