So I’m not gonna call this likely or anything, with 3 packs to go, but I was thinking.

If we get a Capcom pick, and it’s not Monster Hunter, and each pack gets 5-6 costumes, with a few from their series and usually from their company...I’m sure somebody will consider this Mii Costume Theory but I am not going to call it that.

Here’s how I could see Dante’s pack:
-Vergil Swordfighter
-Nero swordfighter
Or
-Lady Gunner
-Monster Hunter
-Rathalos Armor
-Phoenix Wright with Cornered (if Premium doesn’t only apply to indie titles)

Like I said, I’m not gonna call that likely. It WOULD seem that there are a handful of cases where Mii costumes are paired with the company they come from, or the genre with which they represent. We saw this with Akira in Terry’s presentation (fighting games) and Heihachi with Min Min. Joker’s presentation also had entirely SEGA owned costumes, or affiliated with it.

If Phoenix Wright is the pick (as much as I love Ace Attorney, I think he’ll be a Mii costume), then I could see Dante being a swordfighter costume. I’m not super confident in this exactly being a pack but I could see it.

Lloyd could also be in a different pack, with an actual JRPG pick, if we get one. I’m getting the feeling that any missing Miis were deliberately held off until these picks, making their absence seem actually negligible as opposed to indicative of being playable. I also wouldn’t necessarily rule out Monster Hunter miis coming with an actual Monster Hunter fighter, but I’m skeptical.

I agree that a Capcom pack can be something like this:

• Vergil/Miles Edgeworth (depending if Dante/Phoenix ends as playable) -> from IP fighter
• MH armors -> returning Smash 4
• Guile -> promote AT
• Phoenix/Dante -> “popular” request (whatever the other was made playable)

Personal wish: Viewtiful Joe “Deluxe” Mii

If the Hunter if getting promoted to playable status, maybe we will get something like a Palicos hat and both Dante and Phoenix would be mii costumes.

If we’re talking passes, I can easily see Rex in CP9, and Crash and Phoenix could go either 10 or 11. It would come at the right time to not be be a massive character, being announced in likely March, and a promoting tool I think Nintendo would do.

I will note it's a common mistake too. Even worse is that the corset that Kirby uses is colored differently so that it looks closer to the color Erdrick uses instead of Erdrwin. It's likely the color was done that way cause Sakurai had to push Luminary and wanted to make a slight nod to Erdrick. Cause details like that he wouldn't miss. But it also might be differently colored so it flows better on the screen, etc. Some colors clash/don't work well. Either way, it's most likely Sakurai was aware it wasn't the normal blue color.

I talked about the color. That's not the same blue. It's a blueish green instead of a darker blue. It's pretty much a cross between both corset colors. Why, I dunno. Easier to work in battle, a slight joke on it being similar to Erdrick's. Either, or.

...For some reason I need to link this one, but it's a dark green. The colors that Kirby uses for it is a bit different from both. Like a color fusion.

BTW, you'll have to go to the url spot and click the link again to make it show up. But yeah, Kirby's hat is not the same color as Erdwin's nor Erdrick's. It's still blatantly based upon Erdrwin's regardless, which makes sense, as Kirby hats almost always reference the first alt. One exception was reusing a previous one like in Brawl, for the Zelda hat. But, you know, rushed game, etc.

Pretty sure it was Erdrick that got the SE slot.
I heard that they were going to announce Castlevania as a third party retro for overseas and Dragon Quest as also a third party retro for Japan, so I was quite surprised when the DQ rep disappeared completely from the actual game we got.

From what I've heard, it's supposed to have been developed from the beginning, so I don't know if it's part of the DLC pack or not.
I don't know if they couldn't get it done in time, so they sent it to the later updates, but when it was released, there were a few other third parties missing, so maybe they all got put on hold or cancelled, including Erdrick.
I'm pretty sure they were developing Erdrick, and the default guy(?) from Minecraft was there too, with his actual working model, as one of the thrid party reps. But he's gone too idk.
I don't know, Chun-Li was there, but somehow replaced with Ken. Bamco had both Symphonia and Vesperia protagonists in the planning stages, but they're not here as well.

So I don't know if Erdrick will be a paid DLC or a free bonus update, but it's true that it was being developed.
It seems that Enix was really shocked when Cloud made himself in Smash, so they became very cooperative and tried their best to promote their stuff.
They had already decided to release DQ11S at that time, so I guess they were hoping that Smash to bring them some newcomers of overseas into the DQ franchise.

Sora was also a candidate, but it was rejected because they felt that not having any Disney characters wouldn't be right as the KH representative.
There was also Sephiroth and the Mii character from Super Mario RPG, but Sephiroth ended up conceding the spot to DQ, and the Mii one was in a very sensitive position, so it was dropped.
I've heard that there are a lot of requests from his fans, but all they say is to put him into Smash, and only few requests for a new game or a remake of his game. So what they told me is that developers are confusing about this whole Smash fever situation.
Especially from the third party side, they don't want their characters to be established as "Smash" characters, and the occasional requests for a new game are always associated with Smash representation. This kind of attitude from fans are making the devs unsure of their real intentions, that's what I've heard.
They also said that, probably it's only the loudest and most dedicated Smash fans being so on the internet, so it's hard to tell if thier real demographic really want to revive the series or not. They just couldn't take a chance on developing a whole new game by having Smash come in first.
I've been hearing this kind of talk from here and there recently, so I'm wondering just how big of an influence Smash has become.

そういえばチュンリーもいつのまにかケンになってるし、バンナムも企画段階でシンフォニアとヴェスペリアのやつ両方捻じ込んでたのにいないし、ようわからんわ

特にサード的にはスマブラのキャラってことで定着されるのが困るってことらしくて、たまにある新作欲しいとかもスマブラと関連付けられてて、スマブラありきの要望が増えてるから真意が分からなくなってるっぽい
声のでかい熱心なスマブラ厨がネットで言ってるだけって状況らしいから、本当にシリーズの復活が望まれてるのか微妙すぎて、先にスマブラ参戦させて合わせて新作なんて博打は打てないって話を聞いた

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the source for the SMRPG rumor. but I think that was around the time frame of Smash Ballot days. I'm not sure it was before or after Sakurai's Famitsu column that mentioned Geno. If that was from Futaba, which I think probably was, I really don't know how to find it anymore. So basically, treat this also as the same as other 4chan/5chan text leaks.

That is highly interesting to read. Whilst I am still leaning on the chances of a Monster Hunter rep being playable, I would want to throw Chun-Li in the mix as well.

My idea for this is cleaning up the gaps in the series already in Smash, instead of bringing new ones in.

FP12: Chun Li. I don't know much about Street Fighter, but she sorts out the lack of Street Fighter 2/3/4/Alpha content with her pass.

FP13: Bandana Dee. He has a lot of stuff from the Return to Dream Land-Start Allies era of Kirby, fixing the dearth of content there.

FP14: Grovyle. He is added to give representation to the Pokemon spinoffs, primarily Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Bonus: Skull Kid. Zelda has it pretty good in every area but fighters, so we don't necessarily need a whole pass. I also considered Tabuu and Waluigi.

Reasonable chance. There's over 50 Pokemon alone to promote, etc. Though with SwSh dying down overall here and there, I'm less sure of that. Urshifu as a switch out(with the other version) somewhat akin to Pokemon Trainer(or Zelda/Sheik) feels like the best way to do so. It keeps the actual design of the characters intact, while integrating the proper battle system of theirs~

I would have said it probably had a bigger chance now when we just had Min Min as our only revealed FP2 character but with Steve and Sephiroth added into the equation, their chances have went down. It's still possible but I feel like there's gonna be more "unexpected" choices for Smash and a Gen 8 Pokemon feels very safe and one of the most predicted things for the second Fighters pass.

True but I would argue that Byleth was a safe and expected choice (FE rep) and they turned out to be the last fighter in FP1. I am expecting at least one more 1st party rep and I think it will be either a Pokemon or Zelda character

Considering it has no content at all, and the Persona series seems to be fairly removed from the Shin Megami Tensei series after spinning off, I'd say it doesn't. Or if it does, it does so on a pretty loose technicality.

It's not a secondary third party. It's literally a different series. SMT does not exist in Smash. Persona in general does(with a focus on Persona 5).

So... but that said, I agree with your core point. Sephiroth doesn't really set up much. It just proves that yes, they can put in non-Echoes for a second third party rep. FFVII finally got its second one, and it's awesome.

Only if her other skins included dolls of other protagonists as well (I remember using the Marta one a lot on my playthrough). For real though, although Lloyd is my Tales character of choice for smash, if velvet got chosen instead, I would be pretty happy. Although it does help she is my favorite protagonist in the Tales of series and Beseria is top 3 tales games for me personally. Some might say her design would be a problem, as long as they cover up the chest area, she would be okay.

True, but to be completely fair, the Virtua Fighter costumes came with Terry and Cuphead came with Byleth.

So far the only company whose costumes all came with a corresponding fighter was SE.

Well with Gen 8 been out for a while, they'd have a good idea of what Pokemon to go with.

True, but to be completely fair, the Virtua Fighter costumes came with Terry and Cuphead came with Byleth.

So far the only company whose costumes all came with a corresponding fighter was SE.

It's more that I find Lloyd getting unceremoniously costumed again more likely than the alternative than it being an impossibility

True, I'm just saying that just because Heihachi and Gil (as well as the Mega Man costumes) came without a character from their company, it doesn't mean all characters from it have low chances.

So I’m not gonna call this likely or anything, with 3 packs to go, but I was thinking.

If we get a Capcom pick, and it’s not Monster Hunter, and each pack gets 5-6 costumes, with a few from their series and usually from their company...I’m sure somebody will consider this Mii Costume Theory but I am not going to call it that.

Here’s how I could see Dante’s pack:
-Vergil Swordfighter
-Nero swordfighter
Or
-Lady Gunner
-Monster Hunter
-Rathalos Armor
-Phoenix Wright with Cornered (if Premium doesn’t only apply to indie titles)
Or
-Lloyd

Like I said, I’m not gonna call that likely. It WOULD seem that there are a handful of cases where Mii costumes are paired with the company they come from, or the genre with which they represent. We saw this with Akira in Terry’s presentation (fighting games) and Heihachi with Min Min. Joker’s presentation also had entirely SEGA owned costumes, or affiliated with it.

If Phoenix Wright is the pick (as much as I love Ace Attorney, I think he’ll be a Mii costume), then I could see Dante being a swordfighter costume. I’m not super confident in this exactly being a pack but I could see it.

Lloyd could also be in a different pack, with an actual JRPG pick, if we get one. I’m getting the feeling that any missing Miis were deliberately held off until these picks, making their absence seem actually negligible as opposed to indicative of being playable. I also wouldn’t necessarily rule out Monster Hunter miis coming with an actual Monster Hunter fighter, but I’m skeptical.

I imagine that Nero’s costume would be reversed so it would use its left hand! And Vergil’s could go two ways. Yamato in the right hand, sheath in the left. Or force edge in the right, sheathed Yamato in the left! Also he could be a brawler too with beowulf

Microsoft doesn't actually own Cuphead. It just helped publish it.

Otherwise, pretty much. And yeah, Square and Enix are literally the sole cases where costumes are tied with their company.

I however do agree that Namco-Bandai does look a bit less likely for having a playable at this point. But, like, say we're talking a 50% chance(for a random number). I feel it might be more like 45% now, so a tiny change.

Anyone else think that a Gen 8 Pokemon has a good chance to be in FP2? I'm personally hoping for Urshifu

I think it has decent shot but I do see a possibility of a Gen 7 or older Pokemon making it over a Gen 8.
