Min Min is the biggest afterthought of Ultimate's DLC cycle hands down. I don't even have to learn the last 3 characters to just say that. She's just there while Steve and Sephiroth exist on the same Pass she's on.

This is just HUGE


Sephiroth is just..... he's THAT villain whose name precedes him. He's the epitome of video game villain, right up there alongside the likes of Bowser, Dr.Robotnik, Dr.Wily and Ganon.


I'm just absolutely floored, smashed, blown away, destroyed, decimated, amazed, my mind is full of absolute **** trying to process how this happened, and I haven't stopped smiling since.

What makes this so poetic for me is I played the original FF7 for the first time this year. It's one of the best games I've ever played.

Jin is actually voiced by Takahiro Sakurai who voices Cloud, and designed by Nomura
So if you think about it Jin is already in Smash, just chopped into pieces divided between 2 different characters

Just a theory, but I think it may be an Alt. Final Smash like Ryu & Ken's.

It may be what his Final Smash does when you have full limit; kinda like how all his other specials are upgraded when you use them while you have a full Limit Break gauge.

I’ll just say that I’m beyond ecstatic for Sephy but the precede that this sets is extremely important:

• 3rd party characters from an already established franchise in Smash can get in
• 3rd party characters from a previous DLC series can get in
• 3rd party villains are fair game
• you can kill Mario in more ways than one

I will say though, it's kind of unfortunate that Sephiroth's Neutral Special is probably one of his projectiles. Kirby wielding a sword that big in normal gameplay would have been hilarious.

Ah well, at least he gets the luscious locks.

So... I'm just gonna accept Doomslayer as a Mii Gunner at this point.
Sephiroth certainly narrows things down, however. Geno, Sora, 2D, Neku, Crono, ALL got executed tonight.
My condolences to all of those fanbases, especially the Geno one. Hopefully this is our last swordfighter.

As somebody who literally mods Ultimate as a hobby, the whole "Miis can't be modded" thing was complete and utter rubbish even then.

I love how people craft trailer ideas based on the Nintendo character that will be killed off next and try to theorize how that could indicate who the next character is.

This trailer was legit though cause Banjo’s reaction to Sephiroth. Banjo and Sephiroth...it still feels strange.

Also, I don’t make memes but can someone make a meme of Sephy bisecting a beloved fan favorite speculation character like Crash or Dante and saying “Oh, this was your most wanted?”

I would love it.

Y'know, I've never played FFVII, and I gotta say... One-Winged Angel is more or less an utter triumph of game music, it is REALLY damn good!

Does anyone know it the one in Seph's trailer is a new remix or an existing, official one?

I mean if you really wanna go deep into it Jin was created by Tetsuya Takahashi who directed Xenogears which was originally going to be Final Fantasy VII before becoming its own separate project, and Nomura and Takahashi exchanged a few ideas for characters while both games were being developed

No offense, but Banjo of all people surprises you the most? The character whose only games were on Nintendo? I honestly thought that if not base roster, he was the MOST likely DLC character to eventually be added lol!

Yes, yes I am because he was still incredibly likely given that despite being owned by another company, he seemed the easiest to bargain for seeing as how he's practically worthless to his parent company as they haven't done anything with him.

EDIT: We knew back in June, 6th months before the game's release, that Sakurai was getting ALL previous fighters back: Bayonetta, Cloud, Ryu, Snake, Sonic, Pac-Man being the notable 3rd parties. That alone should have been enough to see that it wouldn't be too difficult to bargain for the main character of a franchise thats been dead for the last decade.

EDIT 2: Again, absolutely no offense to the Banjo fans, but really his inclusion should not have been so difficult for some of you guys to accept as it seems to be.

If you think Banjo was such an easy call, I think that's more indicative of overlooking the significance of the inclusion and the dearth of precedence for such a collaboration. Seemingly evidenced by your chalking him up as just "some old character no one was using".

Not using a character =/= being fine with your competition using a character.
Fans wanting a character =/= working with your competition to please them.
One influential person in the company being fine with collaboration =/= every other necessary party involved across rival companies being fine with it (and taking the steps to bring it to fruition). Especially when you consider one of those companies is the ultimate not-a-team-player, Nintendo.
