Partner Showcase with MH Switch as the big title of the direct, next week. The thing is, I don't see it as a problem, but Sony today announced their PS5 event for Wednesday, where I assume they will finally reveal the price, among new info about games. I obviously wouldn't expect Nintendo doing anything for Wednesday, so we have 4 days.
If it's a Partner Showcase it will probably be shadowdropped, like the last one.

About Smash, the bad thing is that I wouldn't expect news about FP7 next week if we get a Partner Showcase.

We know that DLC characters don't need to be tied to new game announcements, but seeing that the Monster Hunter game for the Switch is basically a matter of when it's gonna be announced, FP7 being Monster Hunter would make sense and would align very, very well, assuming FP7 will be revealed in the next weeks.

It'd be nice, and it'd be nice to finally get the Rathalos armor Mii costume back, which is objectively the coolest set of armor for Miis, but at this point, color me cautious.

Probably push it off to next month for reveals because the way this is going a September reveal seems starting to become unlikely.

I think so. They could follow what they did with Min Min, which would fit very well in my opinion.

• Friday 18th: Nintendo announcing a Sakurai Presents for next Monday
• Monday 21st: Sakurai Presents revealing the new character
• 28th/29th: FP7 is released

That way they would avoid the PS5 event and the Tokyo Game Show.

I'm not a Monster Hunter expert but I think different armor sets would be a given. Same for male/female alts of the character.

So here are the options we have available:


Nintendo shadow drops it, despite it not being their propety
It's in a Partner showcase ala how SMT5 was shown off


Monster Hunter Switch will be a BIG reveal, this thing's a system seller, I can't see them just dropping it alone.

I don't think we'll see 8 completely unique alternate costumes, but there's no way they'd pass up on making different gendered costumes for an avatar character. The most likely scenario would be this either two armour sets with the male and female variations, or four armour sets with the male and female wearing different armour sets.

Yeah. Shinobi doesn't mention a Partner Showcase at all, but if MH Switch is supposed to be revealed before TGS, the most logical option is a Direct. And a General Direct doesn't seem likely when it seems that Nintendo doesn't have more unrevealed first party titles for 2020.

I wouldn't consider a shadowdrop likely. A MH exclusive game is a big deal not only in Japan, and in the end it's still a third party game, not a first party game.

Who knows, of course. Maybe they're really gonna shadowdrop it, just like Age of Calamity. But it doesn't feel right to me lol.

4 Male armor, 4 female armor, 4 sets just the two separate gender variations.



Granted, I'm not sure how some would transition over to Smash. The Kirin Armor is probably one of the most iconic to the series, hell, it got into MvsCI, but it's pretty lewd, even for the guys.

If we get the Hunter I'd be very surprised if we didn't get the Kirin armor. It's one of the most popular armor sets in the franchise and has appeared in many crossovers alongside the Rathalos in games such as Dragalia Lost and MvCi.

Granted Hat Kid is easily the unlikeliest of the characters I've covered so far, but this is mainly for what she could bring in a possible future Smash game. I had trouble writing it at first but it was a total blast once I got into it. Hope you all enjoy it.

If it's gonna be announced before TGS, then what'll it be? Shadowdrop? Partner Direct? Smash announcement coupled with a new game?

Anything but an actual Direct is on the table.

Kinda doubt it's the latter. Like, let's be real: unless it's something like Master Chief Collection for Switch or other games of that caliber, a Smash announcement would instantly overshadow everything in a Partner Showcase. Especially being a third party character.

Like, a Hunter in Smash would ironically be the focus of the conversation here, rather than, you know, the MH game we've known about for a while and that fans are eagerly awaiting.

Kinda hoping it's a shadowdrop, really. I don't really see anything else to be excited about in terms of Switch third party announcements, with NMH delayed and Bayo 3 still MIA. If we're getting a MH Switch trailer, I'd prefer to just focus on it.

I mean, we can't call something a pattern based on only 2 occurrences to be fair. Yes, both of our previous ones happened at the end of the month, but that doesn't really make it a pattern.

True, but if that's the case, they could wait and announce it at the Tokyo Game Show. If I remember correctly Capcom will be there. If the game is planned to be revealed before that, some kind of Direct it's what makes more sense to me.

Issue here is the elephant in the room.


The Kirin Armor is pretty skimpy.


If the ESRB threw a fit over Palutena showing too much leg, well, the Kirin Armor effectively wears a loin cloth. It's probably one of the most iconic armor sets to the series, but Smash has kinda thrown down that sex is an issue.

While looking for some Monster Hunter stuff I found out that FeliciaFan made a moveset for Monster Hunter. Give it a watch some time later as it's one of the best movesets that showcases what the Hunter is capable of.
