There's no 100% established counter for MK (at least not a reliable one that doesn't get screwed over by counter picks and doesn't get screwed over when MK camps). You have arguably even matchups with IC's (Who get screwed over hard on counter picks and camping), Snake (Mostly Counter Picks), Falco (Don't even get me started on Planking/Aircamping and CP stages with this guy), Olimar (CP's are flat out nasty lol), and Diddy (A little of both, Counter Picks can hurt bad though).

Then you have the "outlandish" even claims, like Dedede, Wario, G&W, Marth, ZSS, etc. Basically characters that obviously don't counter MK or even run close to 50:50 with him, but there run a few "optimists" in each community that think they can run 55:45 or closer.


And then you have the rest of the characters that MK beats by at least 6/4, if not higher.


Does that cover everything? Lol.

Are there any ranked fox players anymore? I think Fox has a legit ability to make MK approach, and doesn't have that much trouble creating killing situations. But he's too light. It's probably 60/40.

Well, the problem is that MK, like just about everyone else, isn't forced to approach the entire way. Especially because the lasers lack hitstun there's a zone where MK can approach to, and fox can't laser without being punished (or even really throw out an empty shorthop, unless it's retreated). From there you can camp him and poke him, forcing him to approach.


You could approach too of course, but you're better off with forcing him to approach because MK can option-select his approaches so well.

You're also one of the few MK's I see that tries to Nair or Uair-Nair Snake out of his Airdodge instead of going for a rising Dair. I think that's smart.

Yes i could tho its extremely difficult. i always go lucario and go last stock and sometimes last hit with him. i took a game off 2 tourneys ago too.

You can also do it to Ftilt, Fsmash/Dsmash, Nair, and Dair.

Wario can Also Fsmash or Grab instead of Fart.

Well, depending on who you listen to you'll hear Snake, Diddy, Wario, Ice Climbers, Falco, DDD, and even Fox, Olimar, Yoshi, and Bowser "go even with Meta Knight". I think he had good reason to say that. I've heard most of the arguments involving Snake and I think pretty much everyone else has too, I'm very curious as to why you think Fox goes even with MK though, on paper it seems to be very much in MK's favor and it's not really a situation where you can say "but in practice its totally different" either when Fox players haven't really taken MK's out in any notable fashion.

6/4 is right. Kirby can still gay MK with stuff like his Fsmash and bair spam.

I have an honest question:

If Marth is supposed to beat Kirby somewhere in the neighborhood of 60:40-65:35, why am I to assume that Kirby does better than 60:40 against MK? Most of Marth's advantages are... Similar to MK's in that matchup.

-Both have more range and speed over Kirby
-Both can attempt to Juggle Kirby and have air traps against him
-Both have a fairly solid edgeguarding game against Kirby
-Both have fairly good shield pressure against him and their ground games keep up with Kirby's

I mean honestly it just seems weird that Marth would do about10 points better than MK in that particular matchup when I don't see what advantages Marth has over Kirby that MK cannot match in a similar fashion.
