Smash Lord
I've been making a lot of bold statements over on the Diddy Forums for the last several days regarding KOS-MOS and his Peach. Obviously, I held off on indulging in elucidating my claims about the Peach match-up so I could take the time to get these videos up. I just finished uploading the last video in my series against KOS-MOS' Peach just a moment ago; now, I'm going to take this time and use this space to acknowledge a few different points, observations and accusations that have been made ever since I issued this statement a few days ago.
To preface, I have played KOS-MOS for a couple of years now, since the tail-end of Melee's lifespan to Brawl's present. The occasionally-updated Brawl Oklahoma Power Rankings have largely consisted of a friendly battle of musical chairs between KOS-MOS, Chuck Nasty (PT) and myself for almost an entire year. My meeting with KOS-MOS in tournament and countless friendlies are pretty well-documented around these parts, although it's worth mentioning that I was more or less on a hot streak against him from September through one of the last legs of winter in February.
As evidence, here is a friendly from January:
I think it is fair to say that this is how many of our matches used to go: they were fun and exciting and somewhat close, but with me usually winning the slight majority of matches.
Since then, KOS-MOS has decided to definitively figure out Brawl and has forever altered how this and several other match-ups are to be played. He has been on a recent and unstoppable tear through not only the best Diddy mains around these parts, but also through a slew of Texas' top competitors and others around the region.
I have not been violated this harshly since the psychological scarring I received from Roy_R months ago. In many ways, this perpetual *ss-beat that I've been receiving these last several weeks has been much, much worse than that in a number of ways.
The most recent match additions to this thread were matches culled from a series of almost 40 matches we recorded on a Wednesday evening last week, and the ones I have chosen to showcase are all in chronological order.
As a disclaimer, I make a series of critical missteps and fall victim to generally poor decision-making forced by KOS-MOS brilliant play in more than a handful of these videos. I am not oblivious to this fact. However, it should also be noted that I am baring everything from that evening; all of its ups and downs as well as performances that outright embarrass me, enough to the point that it made me want to cry knowing that other people were going to see it.
Despite that, there was an emphasis that I wanted to make, and that is that I am not, by any means, a flawless or infallible top-level player from my region. I routinely get wrecked and destroyed just like every other Diddy Kong main trying to get good at this game – the difference here between most other players and myself is that I am unafraid to put up videos of me looking like a complete scrub. I would rather be humanized now as someone with the capacity to fall under the weight human error rather than be written off as overrated later down the road, because I have absolutely no interest in masquerading as a "top player" who never loses.
Now, I begin my task in unraveling a match-up that I thought I had down pat for months. KOS-MOS has literally changed every single dynamic about the way this match-up is supposed to be played, and I will probably have to lose several more times before I arrive to a reasonable conclusion.
As it currently stands, though, I feel that Peach is Diddy Kong's worst match-up in the game.
Also, KOS-MOS will very soon emerge as the undisputed best Peach player in the country. If he isn't already.
Enjoy this while it lasts, Chris. I'mma **** you up very soon, brother. <3
