i never got to see/play him in japan
No kidding.
I used to think Japanese players were just inconsistent and that's why the top 10 placings seemed so random in their tournys.
But now I realize it's because their top 10 if not more are so close to each other in skill and constantly improving that they are all capable of beating each other.
It's a strange thought, because in NA results aren't like this at all. Every region has 2-3 established dominant top players or so and there are rarely any massive upsets in the top 5.
Which is kind of saddening because it almost feels then like our metagame is stagnant whereas Japan is constantly evolving. I hope I'm wrong though.
The videos from Sumabato 16 aren't up yet. Pio-suma videos are on numaburamovie. However, I'm not sure what to do with them. Since the OP is ordered by characters I'm not sure how to implement videos of 4 different players, often with 4 different characters.Where are the vids 4 the most recent tourney?

was the stuff about you not being able to take a game off of Earth's pit true. Also did u get to play masashi's pit at all?

No earth 4-0d me in the tourney matches with pit although one was very close. I am unable to get KOs on him as he would constantly live to 200%
to me, earth is by far the hardest opponent in japan PERSONALLY, based off the tourney matches (we had no friendlies).
but since i seem to do better vs everyone else than he does, he more accurately seems like a hard-counter to me. it's unfortunate cuz i think i had a pretty high chance of taking the first tournament in japan had i not had to fight him twice.
here's what i can remember of playing everyone. This is just personal hardests for ME and my exact performance I can remember vs everyone to as accurate that I can remember.
personal hardest for me in Japan is earth, since he won all 4 games. I did not get to play masashi.
2nd would be otori/9b/masha (but the only matches i got vs otori was the 2 tourney matches, and i was really upset after i got timed out first and i think I played extremely poor the 2nd game because of my negative mindset), while as far as masha goes, the way he "beat" me the first game like that, i no longer wanted to play and i pretty much threw the set after that (i was honestly about to forfeit because of how bad of a mood i was in but Havok didn't let me. My negative mindset really affects the way I play but I will make sure in the future I do not let this happen). i still think dehf is SLIGHTLY better, but not by much at all. 9b beat me most of our friendlies, but they vary greatly. Like one game he almost jv 4 stocks me, and I'll also 3 stock him a few games. I think this is because of how ICs vs MK works, and I can't play my hardest in that MU in friendlies. One example of what I mean is at Revelations, i played Delux and he almost jv 4 stocked me the first day, then i double 3 stocked him next day in tourney. The MU is really about how gay you want to play.
They were the 4 personal hardest for me that I can remember.
-Kakera (much improved since Apex imo) and Nietono went about even with me in friendlies in total, although I got the tourney wins.
-Rain I beat about 65% of the time (on average, with 3 1-hour sessions each, including Day 3 of SRT for at least a full hour which was really fun). Except a lot of the time I get 2-3 stocks off and when i lose it's usually close, and he quit out of a lot of the matches I was 3 stocking him to start over.
-vs Mikeneko was about the same as vs rain, hell 2 stock me sometimes but ill get just as many 3 stocks on him and win about same %age.
-Brood was also about 65 35, except last 3 games we played (last session) at end of SRT day 2, i 3-0d him, 2-3-1 stock.
-Yui as I said before, I was losing to him for the first half hour most of the games, then by the last hour I was winning very badly, and 3 and 2 stocking him a lot the last 4 games we played (and I was able to apply a lot of what i learned to nakat successfully).
-I beat the top 4 japan snakes in total around 75 25 each (on average, and i can't tell who was the best it's all close).
-I beat Kei's peach every time i think, or maybe he won 1 game by 1 stock 100% or so, I don't remember if he won that game or not I just remember it was really close, but he hit me with both stitchfaces and bombs that game. We had about 7 games total i think.
-lots of players in pools that weren't among the best of the best I got 3 stock low %s on (multiple people I did this but I don't know names so does not mean much).
-never played ocean, but i think i woud win a rematch more likely than not.
-almost all players in Japan have both 2 stocked me and been 3 stocked by me. The only player that has 3 stocked me back, and multiple times, is 9b, and I think that's because that's how that MU works especially when you're playing hours together for days in friendlies and you get lazy and grabbed. 9b beat me about 60 40 in friendlies more or less, maybe even 65, but I honestly think I might have the advantage in tournament with what I have learned in the MU, but it'd be mostly down to who's playing better and i was hoping i could have a chance in tourney in japan but i failed at it.

Yooooo, Jason just to set the record straight, day 1 when we played I was kinda on fire. Like abnormally playing well lol
But the end of that night though I started feeling pretty sick (the Shaya Plague). I woke up the next morning with a 102 degree fever so I took like 2 allergy meds (claritin D and Benadryl) and 2 cold meds (Sudafed and Dayquill), took down like 2 energy drinks to try to be functional, but I knew I was in trouble. Even with all the meds I could still barely breathe. It took me two weeks to recover from the ensuing sinus/ear infection I got.
I was 2-3 stocking Scizor left and right the day before, but he almost beat me with MK in tournament (like timeout by 9% game 3 almost beat me). I think Sky took a stock off me with Peach in 7 seconds, but I couldn't really react. I swear you and Mike both controlled 3 characters on the screen at the same time, and I spent both sets trying to hit the middle one.
I think you would have won even if I didn't have the illness johns, but that accounts for the difference in win/loss performance more so than how either of us played lol. If I had a nickel for every time you air dodge behind me and I was like "I need to grab the cross up" but reacted like I was drugged, I'd have a quarter :D. Probably would have 1 stock to 2 stocked me instead of nearly JV 4ing me in tourney lol

Dude it works both ways. The time you almost jv 4d me i LITERALLY just let myself get grabbed at 0 every time cuz i don't care cuz it's friendlies, and that accounts for more than anything you're saying by far because that's how the MU works. It was the same vs 9b. That's the point I'm trying to make. That specific MU works that way. You either try super hard and ****, or get lazy and whoever is lazy gets 3 stocked.

Earth really took advantage of M2Ks ignorance in the MU. He only won cuz they played no friendlies.
Vinnie vs Rain was the best set of the trip.

Interesting list. My good friend Ish actually just told me he is housing Quik and Ascwolf so they will be a couple doors away from where I will be staying for Apex (with Nakat, Jbandrew, Bleachigo, Pwii, and False). In other words I will get to see/play them very often. Ish also said Ravenlord may be staying with him.
