That depends on the matchup. There's a few matchups where playing aggressively and offensively will lead into your doom, such as Meta Knight or Falco.

More than a few. Fox camps in a relatively large number of matchups.

There are several matchups where Fox SHOULD play offensively.

Diddy is a main one, and I would actually throw Falco in there, too...

For the most part, Fox just applies pressure and punishes mistakes, mixed with camping, so he's a fairly defensive character, yeah.

Alright.. Important question. I'm about to go to battle royale 2 on Saturday.

I need help with the pikachu matchup. My friend has been playing him recently to help me get better at it but as he's new to pikachu it's not extremely helpful.

I'm not afraid of this matchup, I main fox and don't CP whether it sounds dumb or not. A hard matchup is all the more reason to win.

What attacks does pikachu use that I can punish somewhat easily?
Are their any little tricks that can prove helpful? (like shining the downB)
What are my safer approaches to avoid the CG?

Anyone can add anything I haven't asked as well. I'm aware there are threads with info on this, and I've read the ones I could find. I thought more recent input directly from you guys could be good for my game.

Should I aim the nair at his back? Also, I'm guessing the ftilt out ranges his grab which I never thought of, that should be useful :) Thank you sir!

Er, Nair isn't even that good in this matchup.

Pikachu's vertical grab range is so ******** - if he times it correctly, he can grab you out of Nair. I really don't know what to say except CAMP.

Camping seems like the only legitimate way of going about this matchup.

Some of pikachu's attack come out really fast and break my move strings easily. It probably has to do with my friends playstyle but I've found it's good to treat the pikachu like he had marth's upB. Don't know if that helps anyone but it makes sense to me :)

jump shining is a better plank, just drop down immediately jump then shine and with proper timing your shine hitbox will skim the top of the ledge and you'll grab it

The tourney I'm going to has a 50 ledgegrab rule.. Sadly neither of those ideas will work anymore :/

D-tilt. Its ossim...

In all seriousness, Try to keep pika in the air. I feel like fox has better options there than pika does. Also, stages like YI might help with the angled platforms.

you know hes going to grab you. dont dair into his sheild. nair should stop tjolt like it does fireballs. when he starts to qac, dont even try punishing him, just let him waste his time and run away. just keep baiting and punishing till you win.

Hey guys, new Fox main here.

I've recently just come over from the dark side so be gentle with me :)

What order should I learn the Fox AT's in? Atm I'm trying to get my lazer timings down, is this a good place to start?

Could someone give me some tips for platforms?

How do I use them to my advantage? (aside from the awesome mobility like on battlefield)
What should I do to keep them from becoming a disadvantage?

I've noticed some things that really stick out:
I can safely SH a Uair when under someone on a platform.
It feels really dangerous for me to be above someone when platforms are involved, but perhaps I'm ignoring something obvious. Dair is awesome and landing into a shield works as well. I still suffer when above though :/

EDIT- Also, I can't seem to find any good information on the Fox vs. Olimar matchup.

So.

I've been destroying worlds with Fox recently.

I have 4 road blocks.

King DDD, Pikachu, Shiek, Zero Suit Samus.

The answer to three of these problems is Ike.

What the solution to DDD? What should I be doing?

If you pick up Marth, you can deal with Diddy as well (which you mentioned in the Social thread). Marth has a disadvantage against DDD, but you should try the matchup out and see how you feel about it.

Hm, I say I have problems with Pikachu, Shiek then DDD, I play with a really technical ZSS and usually do well against them.

@Zhamy- Yeah I've picked up Marth again along with Snake for a few of those unattainable match wins.

You push up on C-stick while dashing.

If you mean dash attack canceled upsmash, Fox can't do one.

For DDD id say use SHDL alot, stops his minons and means he will have to approach.

watch out for his grab (obviously) , watch his grabing habbits and take advantage by
A. grabbing him
B. uptilting him
C. Drill

you want him mostly to be in the air for upairs and fair's(they work really well) but be careful, dont be in the air when he is too much.

bair and upsmash are your best friends :)

turn around....
No.
No there isn't.
It can be shieldgrabbed by any character, which is why you have to be smart about it, and it shouldn't really even be an attack that you throw out like that, you should combo into it with a neutral air or down air at high percents, or bait a spot dodge and kick 'em. If you whiff an up smash or flash kick into a shield, you're ****ed.

If you can boost smash and hit with the tip of Fox's foot as he goes horizontally, it'll be safe against characters with low traction.

Like...Luigi.

Is it bad that I kill more with dsmash and bair? I find that if someone is properly spacing against me the onlt time i really have an opportunity is if i get a dair........and dairs aren't exactly easy to land either:(

Sure. You don't have to kill with Usmash all that often. Just make people remember it's there.

Eh. Only use against characters with relatively bad movement and on large stages. Reverse SHTL just doesn't move you as far as SHDL, which is sometimes needed for that little bit of spacing.
