So.

I did a SEGA roster.

I did a Namco roster.

It's time to mash them together.

No, really, it makes sense! They were two of the biggest juggernauts of Japanese arcades, they had a sort of rivalry with stuff like VF and Tekken, or Daytona and Ridge Racer. They both also have colorful casts of characters that fit right in with each other. They'd actually be really good fits for a Vs. game between each other. So let's do it!

But here's a twist.

I'm envisioning this as a traditional sprite-based 2D fighter released around 2001/2002. Which means only characters from before then will be eligible. This roster's about the classics. Anyway, here we go

SEGA

1. Sonic the Hedgehog
2. Arle Nadja (Puyo Puyo)
3. Sakura Shinguji (Sakura Wars)
4. Akira Yuki (Virtua Fighter)
5. Nei (Phantasy Star II)
6. Magician Type-0 (The House of the Dead)
7. Joe Musashi (Shinobi)
8. Blaze Fielding (Streets of Rage)
9. Alex Kidd
10. NiGHTS

Namco

1. Pac-Man
2. Heihachi Mishima (Tekken)
3. Heishiro Mitsurugi (SoulCalibur)
4. Cress Albane (Tales of Phantasia) (ok i know this is a boring ass tales pick but this is like the one scenario where i'd pick him)
5. Reiko Nagase (Ridge Racer)
6. Klonoa
7. Gilgamesh (The Tower of Druaga)
8. Valkyrie (The Legend of Valkyrie)
9. Toby Masuyo (Baraduke)
10. Rick Taylor (Splatterhouse)

Bosses

SEGA: Wizeman (NiGHTS)
Namco: Kamooz (The Legend of Valkyrie)

Yeah I also know that picking Cress Albane from Tales of Phantasia is going to be like the boring ass pick for a tales of rep but this is like the one (and only) scenario where your going to pick him as the only tales of games out at the time of this are Tales of Phantasia like before but also Tales of Destiny 1&2 as well as Tales of Eternia.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax was a pretty fun game and it's fun to imagine it getting more SEGA content. So, here's my roster for Dengeki Bunko x SEGA:

I kept every fighter in Ignition but also gave DB two more fighters to make up for the lack of Selvaria and Akira. This game would still come out in 2015.

While a huge company, I have seen a distinct lack of a purely Bandai-Namco roster. So I went around and made one. I picked 26 fighters, which seems fair as BN is rather large and it's the number of characters that Melee had, for reference. I decided to add up to two characters for each series... with one exception:
  • Pac-Man is the shoto of the game and a very balanced choice for newcomers. He'd lack the more crafty tools he has in Smash for a much simpler playstyle: for example, the Bonus Fruits, while still looking distinct, all act the same and he would lack the Fire Hydrant. Most of his normals consist in punches, kick or bites while a few of his attacks have him turn into waka-waka yellow ball.
  • Pac-Marie was chosen as the Pac-Lady of sort: considering that Bandai-Namco really wants you to forget that Ms. Pac-Man exists, she was out of picture. Out of the three remaining ones, Pac-Man Lady was way too similar to Pac-Man and I REALLY don't like Pac-Mom's design so I picked Pac-Marie, who also looks the most distinct to Pac-Man. She'd be a clone fighter (and the only one at that), justifying the choice to have three Pac-Man characters.
  • The Ghost Gang is a group fighter, where you play as Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde all at the same time. They would not be like the Ice Climbers, rather they'd fight as one single entity despite being four of them. As for their moves, they'd summon pixel version of themselves, use some contraptions and attack together.
  • Taizo Hori is a lightweight fighter who attacks using his drill as well as his air pump that inflates opponents (although they won't pop, luckily). A few of Taizo's moves would involve summoning boulders or setting bury traps (like Pitfalls in Smash), making him a more strategy-oriented fighter.
  • Don-chan is the obligatory rhythm-based fighter we all like to add in our rosters. Most of his normals involve using two drumsticks and they get stronger if the player hits the button in a rhythmic succession, while his specials have him play a real drum to create sound waves. As for his alternate costumes, they are based on Don-chan's outfits but half of them would represent Don's brother Ka-chan, like with Olimar and Alph.
  • Klonoa is probably the best fit for a game like this out of every characters owned Bandai-Namco, so his inclusion only felt natural. He'd have multiple jumps with his ears and he could attack using the WindBullet, either by shooting literal air bullets or by inflating and tossing his opponents around.
  • Being one of Bandai-Namco's flagship fighting games, I had to include representation from SoulCalibur and I went with Nightmare for our first fighter from that series as one of its most iconic faces. Nightmare wields the Soul Edge and he's a powerhouse, with slow movement but very powerful and sometimes even surprisingly fast attacks that are taken directly from the source material.
  • Ivy was picked as the second SoulCalibur representative as I wanted an iconic fighter from that series that could bring something unique to the table, like Ivy's whipsword. She'd be a gimmicky fighter with her ability to switch stances: she can either use her sword as a normal sword or as a whip, with the former being generally stronger but the latter having better range. Ivy has a few kick attacks that won't change between her stances.
  • SoulCalibur isn't the only fighting game Bandai-Namco has access to, as they also own Tekken. King was chosen as one of the representatives for the series, due to his very iconic appearance and unique gameplay. Like the SoulCalibur duo, many of King's moves are taken straight from his home series and in his case they mostly focus on grabs and throws, cementing his status as the grappler of the game.
  • While iconic, King isn't certainly the most famous face from the Tekken series, as that title goes to the members of the Mishima family. Of the big three, I picked who I consider to be the most relevant of them, Heihachi (yes, I wanted to place him opposite to Pac-Man to create a sort of rivalry between the two). Heihachi's moveset feature moves he has done in his series. He'd be a heavyweight powerhouse fighter, with many powerful lightning attacks that stun opponents for longer than usual.
  • Lloyd Irving represents the Tales series. I picked him over Yuri Lowell because Lloyd fights with two swords at the same time, making him a far more unique choice (as many fighters in this game already use a sword). He'd be a more speed-based swordfighter, since he has two swords.
  • Velvet Crowe was chosen as a second representative of the Tales series as its only female protagonist. Unlike Lloyd, Velvet fights without any weapon and she'd be a savage, rushdown fighter with a few grappling moves.
  • Valkyrie is a middleweight and balanced fighter who, despite using a sword and a shield, has plenty of projectiles to spare. Along with Pac-Man, she's the best characters for newcomers to pick.
  • The protagonist from God Eater 3 (labelled as Pennyworth) fights using his huge weapons that can morph into three styles. For his default melee weapon, Pennyworth uses a moon-shaped sword, but he can turn it into a gun or even a pincer that can grab opponents, dealing huge damage. Most of his moves would be on the slower side, though. Female Pennyworth makes an appearance as an alternate costume.
  • Alisa Ilinichina Amiella is the second God Eater representative, meant to represent the first two titles of the series. She still uses morphing weapons, but this time her main melee weapon is a very large sword (which would be shrunk down a bit). Unlike Pennyworth however, Alisa's projectiles are weaker, as she focuses more on her melee attacks.
  • Gilgamesh would be a pseudo-clone of Valkyrie, sharing a few animations and a couple of attacks here and there, but he'd be a slower, sturdier swrodfighter, though not as slow as Nightmare or Alisa. For some attacks, he'd use other weapons he can find in The Tower of Druaga series and even a couple of spells originally performed by his fiancée Ki.
  • Reiko Nagase comes from the Ridge Racer series and, as such, making a moveset for her, would be very complicated. I imagine that for her normals she'd use the flags used by race queens, while for her specials she'd jump on a car and run over opponents. Maybe for her recovery the can would jump off a ramp? I don't know.
  • Aty from Summon Night would be another swordfighter who yet uses projectiles, in her case spells. True to the "summon" part of her series' name, Aty would be able to summon various allies from previous games in order to perform some actions. She'd be limited to a meter, though. Rexx, Aty's male counterpart, makes an appearance as an alternate costume.
  • Agumon is a lightweight fighter who uses its fire powers to deal damage from afar and its claws to attack opponents up close. Being the closest thing to Pokémon, I had to add some Digimon content and in fact, Agumon is not alone, as...
  • Biyomon too makes an appearance. Biyomon would be an air fighter, able to perform multiple jumps and attack using its claws and gusts of wind. Considering that Biyomon and Agumon's bodies are not that different, I can see Biyomon being a pseudo-clone of Agumon.
  • The Tarnished from the Elden Ring was a no-brainer, considering how popular that game was. Picking one of the starting classes was no easy task, but in the end I settled with the Vagabond as it seemed to me like the more "default" one other than the Wretch (which was out of the picture as it lacks any sort of unique powers). Being a Vagabond, the Tarnished's normals are sword strikes and spear stabs, but for his specials he'd use summons and even some spells.
  • Kissy is yet another air-based fighter, but in this case even more so than Biyomon, as her main gimmick would be a fuel meter for her jetpack: unlike other fighters, Kissy lacks a double jump (like the Iron Giant in MultiVersus), instead she flies freely for a limited amount of time. She'd mostly use projectiles for her attacks.
  • KOS-MOS being the destructive weapon she is was meant for a game like this. She has a combination of ranged and melee attacks alike but, unlike the God Eater duo, she'd be a far faster fighter with weaker moves in general.
  • Galaxian is an oddball, considering they are a pixellated spaceship fighting against robots, ghosts, luchadores and many, many, MANY sexualized girls. As such, most of their attacks are projectiles and they'd be good in the air. They'd be kind of a less air-based, more zoner version of Kissy.
  • Wonder Momo is yet another odd pick, but I felt that her personality was too much to pass. She'd fight with many kicks and she'd use her superpowers and tools, such as the Wonder Hoop to damage opponents. Uniquely, Wonder Momo wouldn't perform any punch: like in her games, she only hits opponents with her kicks.
  • Bandai-Namco seems to be very proud of Gundam and as such I added it as the last fighter of the game. It would be a big-body fighter like the Iron Giant and the heaviest fighter in the game. Gundam's attacks are kind of standard, using both its dual sabres and rifles. However, due to its massive size, Gundam's attacks are extremely powerful, though very slow

You know what, **** it, I've been getting into Tokyo Afterschool Summoners lately so here's a fighting game roster from it. I tried to keep the characters mostly limited to the main story ones and tried to follow the limitations of sprite-based games like UNIST or Melty Blood.

BASE GAME ROSTER
  1. Protagonist (Body Type 1)
  2. Shiro
  3. Kengo
  4. Claude
  5. Snow
  6. Maria
  7. Arsalan
  8. Licht
  9. Melusine
  10. Ellie
  11. Kresnik
  12. Tadatomo
  13. Fenrir
  14. Arc
UNLOCKABLE CHARACTERS
  1. Alice
  2. Breke
  3. Surtr
DLC CHARACTERS
  1. Ryota
  2. Horkeu Kamui
  3. Zabaniyya
  4. Hakumen
  5. Tsukuyomi
  6. Ose
  7. Cu Sith
  8. Kirito

16: Edward Elric
17: Alphonse Elric
18: Ciel and Sebastian (Black Butler)

Yes, I am imagining this in a world where Disney's acquisition history is the same, but Square Enix keeps their European division.

I know I missed a few, but that's what DLC is for.

I made a roster for if Marvel vs. Capcom was made in 1994 and had a roster like The King of Fighters 94:

Team World Warriors
  1. Ryu
  2. Ken
  3. Guile
Team Darkstalkers
  1. Morrigan
  2. Felicia
  3. Anakaris
Team Mega Man
  1. Mega Man
  2. X
  3. Zero
Team China
  1. Chun-Li
  2. SonSon
  3. Tong Pooh
Team X-Men
  1. Wolverine
  2. Cyclops
  3. Storm
Team Brotherhood
  1. Magneto
  2. Mystique
  3. Sabertooth
Team Avengers
  1. Captain America
  2. War Machine
  3. Hulk
Team Spidey
  1. Spider-Man
  2. Daredevil
  3. Venom
A few notes:
  • Anakaris was chosen pretty much just because he’s in MvC2. Same with War Machine and MvC1.
  • I know Tong Pooh is evil and it is very unlikely she would work with Chun-Li so I’m imagining in this game she would be a different character related to the original like SonSon (who is coincidentally also on the team so it works perfectly)
  • I like the idea of Venom having his own team in a sequel and becoming the Iori equivalent but here there’s just to guarantee the series would still be working like that so I had him a reluctant ally with spiderman since Maximum Carnage was so recent

I'm at it again, this time with a Disney roster. I know, kind of unoriginal, but here is what I thought of:
DisneyRoster_2.png

I went with 30 characters (kind of a lot, but Disney is HUGE), which I organized in 4 rows because I don't like the look of a 3x10 roster. I tried to come up with a nice balance between protagonists, deuteragonists, sidekicks, and villains, as well as to balance between old and new (although I came to realize that new characters tend to be better fits for this kind of stuff) and Disney and Pixar properties (Pixar only has 6 fighters out of 30 but keep in mind that Pixar does A LOT of sequels, while Disney has done sequels for only like 3 or 4 movies, and that many of Pixar's most iconic movies are based on rather unique characters that you can't easily turn into playable fighters).
I also sticked to max 1 character for each universe, with one blatant exception (I don't think anyone will be mad at me for adding both Mickey Mouse AND Donald Duck).
Here are a few ideas and comments about each character.
  • Mickey Mouse is a no-brainer. I went with his original design instead of the popular Sorcerer's Apprentice because I think that 100 of years of cartoons and comics give Mickey way more potential than a mere 15 minutes in one movie. However, I'd give Mickey a couple of spells that use his Sorcerer's hat (a la King K. Rool with the Blunderbuss). Broadly speaking, Mickey would be the shoto of the game.
  • Perhaps a bit controversially, but I think that Sora is a must have in a game like this. His moveset would be very similar to the one he has in SSBU, but I'd rework a few of his attacks (like his Counterattack and Sonic Blade). After all, Sora has a ton of attacks to pull from in his original game series.
  • Another no-brainer is Elsa. I think that Disney would pick her mostly due to her popularity, but she'd be a very cool (pun intended) fighter, with her ice powers. Maybe she'd be a bit on the zoner side. Also yes, if you go check my Bandai-Namco roster, you'll see that I used a lighter shade of blue. I had to change it due to Elsa's dress, but I think it fits better with a few other characters too.
  • A Toy-Story representative was something I needed to add. The choice was between Woody and Buzz Lightyear and I went with the latter, mainly because I think that you can pull a lot more attacks from him. I'd give him moves based on him being a sci-fi spaceman, like a laser beam and jet boosts. Buzz would also have multiple jumps, because he can fly fall with style.
  • Representing the Disney Princesses as a whole, Cinderella comes in as a surprising fighter. I couldn't decide between her and Snow White, but I think that Cinderella encompasses the idea of a princess better than anyone else (also, among the classic Disney Princesses movie trio, Cinderella was my favorite). For her moveset, I'd give a few attacks based on dancing moves, a cart dash that uses the pumpkin carriage, and for some move Jaq and Gus would also make an appearance.
  • Since his movie is based on the world of video games, Wreck-It Ralph had to make an appearance. I imagine Ralph as a heavyweight fighter with very powerful punches and slams. Perhaps, he could also take a couple of attacks from Donkey Kong's moves in Smash, considering that Ralph is somewhat based on DK.
  • Mrs. Incredible would be a very fun addition with her elastic prowess, much more so than her husband in my opinion. She'd have crazy range for most of her attacks but they would not be disjointed hit-boxes, considering that Helen has to stretch her own body in order to perform these moves. For her recovery move, she could even turn herself into a giant parachute!
  • Beast is yet another heavyweight, but a more feral one than Ralph. I'd give him a gimmick based on the Enchanted Rose, in which the longer he goes undefeated, the stronger he gets, a nod to the fact that he becomes more and more anxious because the rose is going to wither.
  • From a beast to another, Simba is a quadrupedal fighter, something we really enjoy as platform fighter fans. As for his attacks, they'd be pretty basic, but perhaps Timon and Pumbaa could make an appearance here and there, though I'd rather not have them.
  • The token duo fighter for the game is made of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The player takes direct control of Judy while Nick would follow and attack alongside her, like what happens with Popo and Nana. However, since Judy and Nick are so different, both in terms of physical appearance and morality, I think that they should have different moves that somewhat compliment well with each other. If Nick is defeated, then the player can fight with Judy alone, but she would be much weaker.
  • Maui from Moana would be yet another very fun addition, using the magic hook both to perform powerful melee attacks and to transform Maui into any sort of different animal. His moveset would be very simple yet effective.
  • Representing the Disney TVA as a whole, Agent P was picked over the competition because it would be so, so, SO fun to play as a secret agent platypus. He'd use both kung-fu attacks as well as gadgets for his attacks.
  • Mei Lee is a unique take on the powerhouse fighter, as she would be a lightweight character with rather weak attacks in most cases BUT a few of her moves would have her change into her giant red panda self. These are the attacks you should be look out for. Or, if you're playing against her, the attacks you should avoid at all costs.
  • Coming in from the most recent Disney movie, Ethan Clade would be a fun addition. Between Splat, electric seeds and cultivation tools, I think he'd be a neat character. Splat would also give him long ranged attacks that ARE disjointed!
  • Our third and final Princess (I probably should have added one more, shouldn't I?) is Mulan. Her moveset revolves around her swordplay, her martial arts, sticks, her fan even and fireworks. Mushu makes an appearance too, being used (or abused) to perform some fire attacks.
  • The most unsuspecting fighter of the game, Winnie the Pooh makes an appearance as a heavyweight fighter with rather weak moves, that hit opponents only due to Winnie's clumsiness. Winnie would also have a unique move where he eats honey, regaining health. This move would be VERY slow though, and not that abusable.
  • A much more suspecting fighter, Stitch is a small, lightweight pushdown fighter, able to deal massive damage and to force approaches using his laser guns. Similarly to Beast, he has a gimmick that increases his strength. However, Stitch's gimmick also changes a few of his attacks once a meter is filled (we'll call it the Good-Evil Meter), since Stitch has now grown an extra set of arms. The Good-Evil Meter is not tied to time, though, but to the damage he deals to the opponents, meaning that Stitch can snowball fast.
  • Baloo is an extremely fun character and one of my personal favorites, so perhaps this choice was a bit biased. He'd be yet another heavyweight that attacks opponents with claw swipes and fruits, but mostly with dance moves. Much like his fellow bear Winnie the Pooh, Baloo is on the clumsy side but, unlike Winnie, he is also a powerhouse. He'd also have one or two moves based on his appearance in the TV show TaleSpin.
  • The lightest fighter in the game would be Tinker Bell. She'd also be very good in the air, having multiple jumps and a sort of glide-float ability. I imagine that one of her attacks would force the opponents to float in midair, acting as a fancy-looking command grab. Maybe she could even have a fly meter, like the Iron Giant in MultiVersus? That'd be neat.
  • Our final starter fighter (the last 10 are unlockables) and our first villain, Maleficent was another no-brainer. She'd use her strong spells coming both from the animated and the live-action movie. As such, I think she should have multiple jumps, referencing her wings in the Maleficent movies.
Now for the unlockables
  • Donald Duck is yet another favorite of mine but this time I am confident that he is not a biased pick. His moves are very basic, mostly punches and kicks but he has the third meter-gimmick of the game (I promise you this is the last), named Goin' Quackers!, where he becomes increasingly angry (and in turn strong) the more damage he takes, akin to Lucario's aura but a lot less powerful. As an aesthetic note, Donald's idle animation becomes a lot more aggressive as he gets angry.
  • Ian Lightfoot is another wizard, but I think that his spells are different enough from Maleficent to justify his inclusion (and I wanted another Pixar representative). He'd have fire, thunder, levitating spells and much more.
  • From magic to science, EVE is a lightweight zoner with extremely powerful projectiles. She'd zip around the stage, shooting opponents here and there with lasers and guns.
  • A third favorite of mine (I promise you this is the penultimate), Jack Skellington joins the roster based on his unique frame and fighting style, more akin to an acrobat than a bruiser. With his very long legs, he'd have a lot of reach for most of his attacks but he'd be a lightweight. He'd also have a gimmick (named Ghostlike Charm) where he deals more damage to opponents that are hit from behind.
  • Another quadrupedal fighter, Kuzco has the ability to stand on the hind legs if need be. I'd add him mostly due to his huge personality, but I think that the roster could use more fighters that are not bipedal. Speaking of...
  • Randall is the representative from the Monsters universe. Kinda odd, I know but I feel that Sulley would be too similar to Beast and I also wanted another villain, especially one from Pixar. Ernesto de la Cruz was a close contender, but Monsters was too important to represent so I chose Randall. He'd be a slithering fighter, running low to the ground on all eight. He'd also be able to turn invisible: in this stage, he deals more damage to the opponents, but he also takes more damage. Uniquely, Randall can also cling and climb vertical walls and surfaces.
  • Captain Jack Sparrow is a very iconic character I simply had to represent. With his sword, flintlock, and even some fire grenades (like the ones he uses in Kingdom Hearts), he'd be a very unique fighter that, like Kuzco, has plenty of personality to spare.
  • Ursula is our third villain and our second sorcerer at that but I chose her mostly due to her unique body frame: with her octopus body, she'd move very uniquely and she could use her tentacles for some attacks as well. Her eels Flotsam and Jetsam would make an appearance for some attacks.
  • Our penultimate fighter and my last favorite pick (though, like with Donald and Jack Skellington, I don't think he is THAT biased as a pick), the Genie is yet another spell caster but, unlike the previous ones I discussed, he'd be a much more cartoony take of the archetype. With this guy, the sky's the only limit: he performs plenty of unique moves, but you can also make up pretty much anything with him and it would still work. However, one move would be a firework attack that can only be used three times per stock and that becomes stronger with each increasing use, as a reference to the three wishes.
  • Finally, Dr. Facilier is our last character. Facilier would be another lightweight sorcerer but he'd also have a gimmick (named Friend on the Other Side), where his shadow acts sort of like Luma for Rosalina, but in a less prominent way (after all, a shadow is harder to see amidst the fray than a literal baby star). As for his other attacks, Facilier would use dark magic and even voodoo.

Shoutouts to Rapunzel, Raya, and Robin Hood (all three names begin with the letter R, now that I see it) for being that close to be added but competed (and ultimately lost) to Randall (another R-named fella).

I'm at it again, this time with a Disney roster. I know, kind of unoriginal, but here is what I thought of:
View attachment 368700

You put Winnie the Pooh in your Disney fighter, or anyone else from the 100 Acre Wood, and you automatically get my approval.

Team Animal:
Baloo
Simba

Team Icon:
Jiminy Cricket

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Team Television:
Agent P
Scrooge McDuck
Kim Possible

Robin Hood
Kuzco
Jim Hawkins
(I could have added Milo Thatch, but I also wanted to rep the 1970s in Disney history.)

Chicken Little
Lightning McQueen
Br'er Rabbit
(Chicken Little and the Cars franchise do not have a good reputation among fans, and Song of the South is never going to leave the Disney Vault.)

Team Villain:
Maleficent
Ursula
Frollo
(If I didn't have Maleficent on here, would this be a sufficient Disney fighter? Plus, fans would want more Disney Renaissance fighters.)

Team Muppet:
Miss Piggy
Kermit the Frog
The Great Gonzo
(Kermit's the mascot, but Miss Piggy would have demanded to be the leader of this team.)

Team Toy Story:
Buzz Lightyear
Sheriff Woody
Forky
(The two faces of Pixar's cash cow, plus a newer fan favorite.)

Team Pixar:
Mr. Incredible
Sulley
Merida
(Some of Pixar's finest old-school characters. The first two launched large-scale franchises, and Merida is an official Disney Princess.)

Team New Pixar:
Joy
Miguel
Mei Lee

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
(Not counting the legal drama behind Spider-Man or Hulk, these three are the tops of Marvel popularity.)

Team Star Wars:
Luke Skywalker
Darth Vader
Grogu
(The three eras of Star Wars: Original Trilogy, Sequel Trilogy, and Modern Day.)

Team 20th Century:
Homer Simpson
Sid the Sloth
Ellen Ripley
(Two animated characters, plus a live-action face in the crowd.)

Honorable mentions to the following:
-Stitch
-Doug Funnie
-Rey Skywalker
-Jar Jar Binks
-Spider-Man
-Hulk
-Luca
-Cinderella
-Moana

I get the Cars thing due to the spy sequel.

Chicken Little being one of the worst films even thought I liked it.

Song of South for its... racist things...

Y'know what, I've been sat on this concept for a while. How would a Hanna-Barbera roster look? Well, I think I've got something kind of neat!

As for our base roster, we've got quite the collection!

01. Scooby-Doo. Y'know, it was quite difficult deciding which character is arguably the Mario of Hanna-Barbera. Considering some of the competition, there's a lot of characters that could take that spot. Anyway, Scoob's as you'd expect - a fun and slightly odd character with plenty of food-based moves and the like. He's simple enough to get a grasp of. Also, he's got a costume based on Dynomutt.
02. Velma Dinkley. See here for more information. My work here is done
03. Fred Flintstone. See why yet? Anyways, Fred's arguably as simple as Scoob. Most of his toolkit is based on his club or his various pursuits of leisure, such as golf or bowling. Maybe a Flintstones Vitamin Gummy makes him extremely buff. I really don't know.
04. Yogi Bear. He knows.
05. Top Cat. Another solid and simple character, though he's a bit faster and a lot more tricky to track down.
06. George Jetson. The idea of George just sitting in his chair and having his various gadgets and gizmos of the future function whilst he's either asleep or just directing absent-mindedly is too funny to pass up on, honestly.
07. Space Ghost. Space-faring superhero and late-night talkshow host Space Ghost felt like a fun inclusion. He's a pretty archetypical superhero, though his various beams could be put to good use against his opponents. Note that he's based more directly on the original show here, similarly to...
08. Birdman. Egypt-themed hero and another of HB's heroic characters, Birdman's got the ability to fly and various sun-based abilities which he can use to his advantage. He's a solid aerially-adept pick, if you wanted that.
09. Frankenstein Jr. I like to imagine you have Buzz Conroy piloting him from the background, a bit like Pokémon Trainer. That aside, Frankenstein Jr. is your archetypical "I am extremely heavy and strong" character, befitting of his nature in his source material.
10. Multi-Man. Chosen mostly due to being the leader of the Impossibles and also just a fun pick to represent the show in general, though I imagine both Coil-Man and Fluid-Man could join him in taunts and victory animations. His ability to duplicate himself gives him a particularly unique vibe - best comparison that comes to mind for me is Naruto back in Super Smash Flash 2.
11. Jabberjaw. So, Jabberjaw has two things going for him. Firstly, he can morph into nearly anything, giving him near-infinite moveset potential. Secondly, he's a semi-anthropomorphic shark. A shark. I couldn't think of a particularly interesting Sealab rep but Jabberjaw's also a solid 70s-era character to bring into the fold, so why not!
12. Jonny Quest. A spy-focused character notable for his various gadgets and the like, Jonny felt like a fun inclusion too. Evasive, but effective. I'm also going to go out on a limb and give him a costume based on Fred. It'd be funny.
13. Quick Draw McGraw. One of HB's earliest characters to screen, McGraw - a cowboy horse, basically - felt like a solid character to bring in here. He's got good zoning tools and a surprising amount of versatility with his deliberately comedic-looking revolver - picture him being like a slightly simplified Heritage for the Future Hol Horse or something.
14. Atom Ant. A solid HB cut that's not quite as immediately obvious as others, I picture him being like a combination of Pichu and Ganondorf in the best (worst) way possible, being like two feet tall but almost as heavy as Frankenstein Jr. or Peter Potamus. He's never above mid-tier but he's by far the most fun character in the entire game, and it's painful to lose against him.
15. Peter Potamus. Speaking of Peter Potamus, some of HB's earlier works felt fun to represent here in some way or another aside from just McGraw, so Potamus it was. He's the single heaviest character in the game, and probably also the closest to a grappler/breaker. Not on purpose, though. He's trying to be gentle. Just... not very well.
16. Galtar. Probably the most obscure character on the list, Galtar was the main character of the short-lived swords-and-sorcery series Galtar and the Golden Lance. He fights with, predictably, a lance - though it can split into two swords a bit like Pit's bow, so that's fun. Also, he has a horse.
17. Zorak. Alas, a villain! I felt Zorak would be a lot of fun mostly because he's basically an alien grasshopper so he brings a lot to the table moveset-wise, but he's also arguably better-known than a lot of Hanna-Barbera villains because most of them appear, like, once, and never again. (I'll get to one of those.)
18. "Richard" Dastardly. Putting to use various pieces of dastardly (SEE WHAT I DID THERE) equipment and weird schemes and machines to fight his opponents, "Richard" is one of the faster characters in the game, but is surprisingly easy to trip up if you know how. As such, you've got to be pretty damn smart to play him right!
19. Dexter. POTIONS. CHEMICALS. VARIOUS PIECES OF MISCELLANEOUS SCIENCE EQUIPMENT. Dexter's moveset isn't necessarily mechanically complex, but it's one of the weirdest to try and get a handle on mostly because of his zoner/trapper/control concepts and his various status effects. Nonetheless, he's fun once you get a hold of him.
20. Tom & Jerry. See here for more information. My work here is, once again, done (Though, actually, a point. Technically, Tom & Jerry aren't "Hanna-Barbera characters", though they have had media done by HB and are also Warner-owned animated characters. They felt necessary. In a good way.)
21. Black Vulcan. I felt a Super Friends rep would be a lot of fun to include, and whilst there's two particular people most would clamber for, I felt Black Vulcan would be a great base-roster inclusion. Representation aside, his abilities and the like would lend to a really fun moveset based around electricity.
22. Captain Planet. So, he's a guest, but... Hanna-Barbera actually made The New Adventures of Captain Planet, and he felt like he'd be a nice guest inclusion to round out the roster with - especially given this isn't the first fighting game he'd have featured in (but ideally would be the first good fighting game he'd have featured in!)

Honestly, I could have left it there, but inspiration struck. Firstly: a day-one DLC/pre-order character, because everyone loves those:

23. The Black Knight's Ghost. I felt a Scooby-Doo! villain would be a great character for a role like this - but which one? The series is well-known for a creative and fascinating cast of unique and interesting characters. Then again, a lot of them appear, like, once, and then never again. So, a recurring villain - and how about their first? Whilst an archetypical and simplistic character mostly because he's, well, a knight, I'd like to give him some ghoulish flair. He's fun!

And now for DLC: Season One (yes I'm doing two of these shhh)

24. Mightor. Another "60s super-character", but also a unique one, Mightor's nature as an ultra-powerful caveman makes him less like Fred Flintstone and honestly more like Superman. Sure, he also has a club, but it lets him take flight and knock dinosaurs into the stratosphere, so there.
25. Jake "Razor" Clawson. A more obscure pick and a deliberate one from the 90s, he's the main character of the very 90s-named S.W.A.T. Katz: The Radical Squadron. As for his actual moveset, it's a combination between an anthropomorphic cat, a police officer, and a mechanic - so there's a lot to work with.
26. Ultraman. This might catch you by surprise, but despite being a guest inclusion, Hanna-Barbera did work on a canon Ultraman film. I'm considering this to be a more composite form of Ultraman based on the series as a whole, but the design is most explicitly based on Ultraman Scott (with alts being based on others.)
27. Penelope Pitstop. A second Wacky Races rep, I felt Penny would be a fresh inclusion to really spice things up. Her fashion-conscious playstyle manifests in plenty of make-up and clothing-based attacks of all kinds: as well as a ton of tools to boot, given she's not exactly a damsel in distress either. Also, she has an alt based on Daphne.
28. Popeye. Another guest, but in this case a more logical one: Hanna-Barbera did after all animate the All-New Popeye Hour. He's a simplistic character to fight as, but still has plenty of tools: and he also has the dreaded and all-powerful spinach that grants him a massive temporary buff, so be careful!

Next - and last - it's DLC: Season Two!

29. Snagglepuss. An icon (in more ways than one, apparently!) of HB's library, Snagglepuss felt like a really interesting and quite fun character to toss in given his pretty consistent appearances throughout a ton of HB's works. His moveset is, of course, very theatrical - I'd even go as far as to sneak some actual theatre references in there from time to time if possible.
30. Johnny Bravo. One of HB's last works, and one of Cartoon Network's first, Bravo feels like he'd be a lot of fun to see here. He mostly keeps things simple, but with plenty of flair. Y'know how Incineroar does poses and taunts after every attack he lands? Bravo does exactly that.
31. The Wonder Twins. Here they are! My concept behind this one is that Zan and Jayna fight sort of similarly to the Aegis paired with the Ice Climbers: they're both on screen at the same time, but you only play as one of them whilst the other's in the background and doesn't interact unless for specific certain moves. Zan's ability to transform into water is taken, as usual, to the logical extreme with things like ice, storms, and clouds, whilst Jayna's moveset is more simplistic and has her transform between various different animals and then back (a bit like Ben Tennyson in CN:pTE.)
32. Papa Smurf. Papa Smurf is, as usual, slacking off and bringing in numerous different Smurfs to do his job for him. For instance, Clumsy Smurf might trip forward and slide along the ground for a dash attack, whilst Hefty Smurf might handle a side smash, and Painter Smurf could toss some paint out as a projectile. Obviously they're guest fighters, but The Smurfs was a HB series, so it's not without some merit.
33. Josie McCoy. The lead singer of Josie and the Pussycats, I felt a musically-inclined character (aside from Multi-Man but I digress) could be a lot of fun - and could lend to a great moveset, too. She plays guitar, and would likely fight with said guitar as well - but I imagine she'd bring in her bandmates for particularly powerful attacks, such as Melody with her drumkit for a powerful AoE attack.
34. Godzilla. Although mostly here because of the 70s cartoon, Godzilla's an amalgamation of his various different appearances and he plays as you'd expect - very heavy, very powerful, very scary. He's got plenty of bits and bobs to bring with him, though I'd like to imagine his up special has Mothra pick him up or something goofy like that.

Honestly, this was a lot of fun. I'm aware I've missed some stuff here and there: but I think stages and cameos could cover the majority of it. (Sealab specifically springs to mind as being more interesting as a stage than as a character.) That aside, I think this is a pretty solid mix of obvious, obscure, and downright weird picks: hope you like them!
