wars not make one great
At that level you're better off playing Assassins. People tend to not organize very quickly if at all that low, so you can pick people off at whim and roaming and then start taking towers and stuff.

Akali, Talon, and Kassadin are all great for this. Lee Sin too but he's a bit more difficult to play well. If you are snagging lots of kills without dying I would even say to go ahead and grab some stack items.

Karthus also works well or TF b/c of their global ults which enemies never take into account.
I was thinking about using Akali and Kassadin a lot more. I'll prob pick up Karthus at some point cause he's the only character who can die and push one button and get a pentakill lol. I've also heard Irelia and Riven are great for carrrying.

45. Nidalee- counters- Akali, Udyr, Lee Sin, Healing reduction & CC

edit:

How are you so sure you're not terrible at this game? I've got irl friends that think they're the bees knees, but really just suck *** and can't point out any of their mistakes ever.
I dunno, I seem to be the only one in this elo who wards, has map awareness, helps teammates, and not get ganked all the time. I don't think it's hard to not be horrible at this game, I think it's difficult to separate yourself from the rest and become great. But to just not suck? Not too taxing. Sure sometimes I'll perform atrociously and lose my team the game, but that doesn't happen very often and usually I'm stuck with teammates who just want to lose us the game intentionally.

Riven is a little hard to get the hang of because a lot of matchups require you to be really aggressive levels 1-3 and if your not comfortable with that you can lose the lane.

Irelia is great if you can depend on your teammates to not feed while you become unstoppable (sometimes even then). The reasons why assassins are better in general is because your typically roaming or more active much earlier in the game.

You should pay attention to your games and figure out how many games you actually changed the outcome of. You should have impossible to win games and games where your team wrecks. How many can you actually say "We won here because I made the difference".

I started doing this near the end of Season 1 and realized that I basically did nothing, neither detrimental or to the benefit of my team, all I really did was not feed and performed normal.

Now for better or worse I try to be a force in games. I prefer the wins or losses to be because of me when I play carries, not because of others.

To thumbswayup:

I dodged my smurf account down to 600 and it's almost back to 1200 now.

I was going to write up a few tips but most are situational and hard to write up with my thumbs.

The most important part is, get a solo lane.

Uh oh... Riot put the NEXT champ into this patch too, apparently so they can release it without needing their whole team there to push a major patch during the Christmas/New Years holiday.

Spoilers in the boxes!

Pics:

Skills/Lore:
=Viktor: The Machine Herald=
Skins: Full Machine Viktor and Prototype Viktor
Skill Assignments (Q,W,E,R) are all subject to change. Only listed for legibility.

Passive: Evolving Technology - Viktor starts with a Hex Core that provides him with stats and can be upgraded in the store to augment one of his abilities. The Hex Core can only be upgraded once, and cannot be sold back to the store.
The Hex Core (Can Not Be Sold) +3 Ability Power per level This item can be upgraded into one of three augments that enhance Viktor's basic abilities. Click the item in the store to discover its upgrades.

Q: Power Transfer - Viktor blasts an enemy unit dealing magic damage, returning a portion of the damage dealt as a shield.
Augment: +3 Ability Power per level, +220 Health, +6 Health Regen per 5 seconds
Ability Augment: Increases Viktor's Movement Speed by 30% for 3 seconds

W: Gravity Field - Viktor conjures a heavy gravitational field, slowing all enemies and stacking a debuff every 0.5 seconds. At 3 stacks enemies inside are stunned for 1.5 seconds.
Augment: +3 Ability Power per level, +200 Mana, +10% Cooldown Reduction, +5 Mana Regen per 5 seconds
Ability Augment: Gravity Field has an additional 30% cast range.

E: Death Ray - Viktor uses his robotic arm to fire a chaos beam that cuts across the field in a line, dealing damage to any opponents struck in its path.
Augment: +3 Ability Power per level, +45 Ability Power
Ability Augment: Death Ray sets fire to enemies, dealing 30% additional magic damage over 4 seconds.

R: Chaos Storm - Viktor conjures a singularity on the field which deals magic damage and briefly silences enemies. The singularity then does magic damage to all nearby enemies every second. Viktor can redirect the singularity.
R (Chaos Storm Activated): Storm Control - Relocate the singularity to your cursor position.

Tips for Playing as Viktor: Death Ray is a powerful poke and a strong area of denial tool. Use it in combination with Graviton Field to control your enemy's position. Make sure you choose the right augment. Each augment serves to boost specific strengths in Viktor and can only be purchased once a game.

Tips for Opposing Viktor: Be careful about how close you let Viktor get to you. Viktor's control of the battle field increases with his proximity to his opponent. Be aware of what augment Viktor is using by looking at the color of the light on his staff.

Lore: Early in life, Viktor discovered his passion for science and invention, particularly in the field of mechanical automation. He attended Zaun's prestigious College of Techmaturgy and led the team that constructed Blitzcrank – a scientific breakthrough that he expected to vault him to the top of his profession. Unfortunately his triumph was usurped by Professor Stanwick, who stole credit for developing Blitzcrank's sentience and later used Viktor's research to revive Urgot. Viktor's appeals for justice fell on deaf ears, and he sank into a deep depression. He withdrew from the College and barricaded himself in his private laboratory, cutting all human ties. There, in secret, he conceived a project for which nobody else could claim credit. Desiring both to revolutionize his field and to eliminate the jealous human emotions which festered inside him, he engineered parts to replace and improve his own body. When Viktor re-emerged, almost no trace of the original man remained. Not only had he supplanted the majority of his anatomy, but his personality had changed. His previous hope to better society was replaced by an obsession with what he called ''the glorious evolution.'' He saw himself as the patron and pioneer of Valoran's future – a future in which man would renounce his flesh in favor of superior hextech augmentations. Though Viktor's initial appeals were met with heavy skepticism, scientists were confounded by the sophistication of his machinery. By integrating his mind with techmaturgical devices, he had been able to drastically accelerate the progress of his research. His transformation had stripped him of what he perceived as his emotional weaknesses, but there was some lingering residue of resentment against the Professor. Viktor joined the League of Legends to pit his inventions against the greatest opponents Valoran could offer, and to correct any weaknesses or inefficiencies that remained. ''In one's hand, techmaturgy is a tool. As one's hand, it is liberation.'' -Viktor

Honestly not sure how life steal runes will help many characters. Relies too much on other stats to scale/be worth while. Maybe usable on Shyvana or Mundo jungles (and the likes)... Probably better than I give credit for, but I think the aoe junglers will far outdo life steal set ups with flat ad/ap/as type stuff.

Lots of gold everywhere

Lifesteal Quints are pretty solid. 10% from runes masteries alone is pretty noticeable. Quints alone it's 2 d blade worth of lifesteal. I can definitely see them as an option for carries bot lane sustain

How much gold made naturally? Idk, I think it's something right around 1 per second. Maybe a tad less/tad more. It shouldn't be much more than that unless I'm doodoo at life. If you get masteries and runes AND Pstone/gold item, that gold income should be around the same or more than your other naturally accumulating gold.

I think on supports I'm going to run those avarice seals instead of armor and then switch whatever my marks currently are (ArPen or MPen usually) to armor. That gives me the same defenses but more gold to buy wards all day.

edit: for reddit - http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/nb5gf/my_reaction_to_the_new_avarice_seals/
Armor Marks are actually like 4-5 less armor than Armor Seals. But I'd still think avarice seals and quints would be smart on super passive supports. I dunno, I'm not much of a bot laner.

yes you are correct. A little bit lower defenses but all those wards... I'll at least have to try it.

They took out normal draft mode with this patch for some unknown reason. That was like 90% of what I played. QQ

edit:
YAY! Found out they are fixing some bug with it. Sad to see it gone for a bit, but glad it's not being kicked because it isn't accessible to new players or some garbage excuse they gave with the new jungle. (still like the old one better)

For people who are math maniacs, how do the new Quints measure up value wise?

Also, new champ actually seems like he might be mildly complex to play? That sounds pretty neat.

Xmas Maokai and Snowmerdinger too strong.

Hybrid Pen is as expected. Roughly 60% the ArPen of equivalent ArPen runes, and 60% the MPen of equivalent MPen runes, so if you're really using both stats quite a bit, you have an approximate 20% gain in efficiency. Not sure if this is really worth it on any characters to be honest.

HP % runes are weird. Comparing the seals, you're looking at % HP Seals out performing HP/level Seals when you have more than 216 HP/level. This is obviously true at level 1. But by level 18, you'd need 3888 for the %HP to outperform HP/level. If you're comparing them to flat HP seals, they don't catch up until you have 1070 HP. So basically they fall somewhere in between the early game of flat HP seals and the late game of scaling HP seals. Essentially I can't envision a scenario where these are actually a good idea. On Quints, the comparison is even worse compared to flat HP Quints, where the % HP Quints don't catch up until 1733 HP. Scaling HP Quints have a worse comparison, where the % HP Quints break even at 180 HP/level, but that's still a 3240 HP break even point at level 18. Summary: Flat HP is better if you want early game HP, Scaling HP is typically better in late game scenarios, leaving % HP runes mostly useless until you hit a midgame warmog's, where it will be slightly higher. This would beg the question of why the **** are you speccing HP on your runes if you're rushing warmog's though, just get resistances and you're better off in that scenario.

Gold/10 Seals aren't as efficient as Gold/10 Quints. They're 1/4 the value, while the oppurtunity cost of stats with their primary in seals (regen, armor, hp) compared to quints is roughly 1/3. If you're investing heavily in Gold/10 anyway, I guess they're probably still worth it, but they'll take 31 minutes of work to catch up to the value of flat armor seals, so if you need armor anyway, they're very tough to justify.

Lifesteal Quints are technically worth a bit less than Flat AD/AS Quints, but they're still worth a lot. For reference, Flat AD = 92.25, Flat AS = 95.2, Lifesteal = 75. Considering that lifesteal is kinda a pain in the *** to spec for though, I think it's pretty hard to argue with 12% lifesteal off of a dblade start, especially if you're laning with a support without a heal. Definitely worth consideration because of the build paths they open up.

Spell vamp on the other hand is a lot harder to quantify. I'd say they're probably not worth it unless you're doing something cheesy where you go into lane with 9% spell vamp off of runes and masteries, but hell, that sounds gay as balls on Kennen, so yea...

Ignoring unit collision makes it so easy to last hit though. Especially since Riot's collision detection and pathing are so fubar'd sometimes in this game.

They took it out to **** you
I tried it to find out...

My team insta locks ap nid, poppy, lane amumu and a vayne. I solo mid morg for the ap dps instead of jungle gp because I didn't think I could count on our nid for our sole source of ap damage.

I get 1 kill on her in lane(no deaths in lane), more cs than opponent, and tower at 15 mins( I got free tower when their mid decided to lane with bot). end of game I have highest cs in game (with 3 more I'd have double that of anyone on my team) only one on my team to go positive (9/5, next best score was 5/10), more kills than rest of team put together. Only one not to die 8+ times.

Apparently so.... :(

Things to do next time:
*roam more during laning, only one kill from roaming and enemy bot lane pushed all game (I was scared I'd miss farm so I didn't do it as often as I needed to to carry)
*figure out some way to to dragon while bot lane is pushed to their tower the entire game?
*farm jungle in between waves if not enough time to roam
*ward more (I was the only one with kills, should have spent more money on wards)
*Tell team that ammu ult + my ult on their whole team means go in.
*queue dodge when I see that goofy-*** comp (I thought about it)
*(anything else? I need help)

I swear normal blind pick is like what I hear about elo hell. :)

edit:
Of course next game I go 10/0/? and every lane wins hard.
