what could be on a 26 gen direct that makes it worth watching
(Checks notes)

A lot. Even this Indie Direct is probably going foreshadow things to come so it's going to be an exciting two weeks if the General Direct really is coming on the 26th.

Also, about Legacy, I can't help but see it as a good thing because, as an elder that has been here for eons, fan projects quietly ending is typically a good sign. If Nintendo jackboots a project very publicly, it usually means that they just got started on an idea that likely won't pan out for a few years. If Nintendo is cough-cough-nudge-nudge about it then that typically means the ideas are going to be implemented in something that's coming out "soon." If Nintendo really did the ole "here's $20 bucks; go see me a movie so me and your mother can have some alone time" with Legacy, we're likely to see things pan out probably by the fall if that actually is the case for this.

Like, really? Pumpkaboo, I don't get you. If you aren't a fan of any of the things on Zippo's list/any of the Mario RPGs, I don't really know what to tell you. There's so many rumors to be excited for, or you know, literally anything that isn't AC. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited as hell for Thursday night (12M Friday), but I wanna know what else is coming this year. AC alone will never sustain me, no matter how great it is; I like being stimulated and AC doesn't scratch that itch at all. It's why I supplement my awful WoW addiction (despite having nothing to do in that game, ree) with other games like ALTTPR (that's what I've been doing near-daily) and DQ11, and will be filling in that list with AC come Thursday night. AC's the perfect supplemental game but never the "end all, be all, only game you play" kind of game, unless you're an extremely casual/chill gamer, which I am not, and I'd expect the vast majority of Smash fans aren't either, given that Smash is anything but chill.

TL;DR/Needless to say: This is a SMASH forum, and in specifics, a GENO thread, so the majority of people here are going to be excited for a basically-guaranteed-to-be-shown-in-the-next-direct SMASH REVEAL, and the potential rumor of a MARIO RPG game coming. If you don't like Mario RPGs, this isn't the thread for you. If you don't care for Smash reveals, why are you in a newcomer speculation thread?

Even this Indie Direct is probably going foreshadow things to come
You really think so? I'm expecting nothing but games that are already out/have been out for other platforms, and games that we know exist coming to the Switch as well as the other platforms.

Idk, I've never seen an indies direct and don't even plan to watch this upcoming one live, but I don't get why it's even a thing unless you're just wanting to give specific games extra support.

For me, I do think if its Challenger 6 for FP2, they would save it for a general direct and possibly a Sakurai Showcase. Remember of the Smash Effect, it will overshadow other indie games due to how BIG Smash Ultimate is on Everyone is Here.
Definitely this, esp since they know viewer turnout for an indies direct will be significantly lower than an actual direct. Even if DLC 6 is an indie, it'll be shown at the direct that's HOPEFULLY FOR THE LOVE OF **** next week.

I Was just asking a simple question, what stuff would they show on the gen Direct because I legit have no idea what they could show. This isnt about AC

also, what Zippo list?

With the Indie World Showcase set for tomorrow, what if... we do actually get blindsided and Nintendo drops the reveal for Challenger Pack 6, it being an indie game character? I know, I know. Chances of that happening are VERY low, but still the idea shouldn't be discarded. As for the general Direct, if we're getting the Indie direct tomorrow (a Tuesday)... we could even get the official general Direct on Thursday (March 19th). In regards to next week however (if we don't get the general Direct this week), then the 26th it is (hopefully :nifty:).
I mean as someone who wants an indie character, i would love it to drop at the end, showing like a thank you for all indie figjters. Its very unlikely but i think it could happen. Just dont expect it.

Oh, you know one thing I thought of that would be intresting, Didnt the makers of Katana Zero say they had DLC planned? Id love to see that. Ive been trying to talk myself into buying Katana Zero for a while now

Well , I admit that beside some news for Seven Sirens , I don't expect much from this nindie direct. The indie games I'm looking the most forward too get direct and news from their own developpers directly , so yeah.

Maybe the Cuphead DLC ? I don't know if it's released yet or not.

In any case , really looking forward to that general direct. Especially if they show off more gameplay of the W101 remaster and that dang new smash fighter.

A lot of people kept telling me that "the last fighter doesn't end on a bang" , so here's hoping this first fighter doesn't follow this rule.

Sorry, it seemed very pointed. My question though is "what could they possibly show off tomorrow that I'll get excited over?" because I doubt we'll see anything we didn't already know existed.

also, what Zippo list?
I thought it was all Zippo's list but it's been "insider stuff". Regardless, that's some good stuff to be excited over (to see if it's true or not). PM3 is quite huge for Mario RPG fans.

Didnt the makers of Katana Zero say they had DLC planned?
Which is irrelevant to the direct next week but could be potentially tomorrow.

Seven sirens and silk song(hollow knight sequel) are my 2 most excited expectations. Otherwise i always want to see what indie studios are making

I'm unsure if I'm gonna get Bravely 3 (IT'S THE *THIRD* GAME, SE!!!). I did love the first, nearly completed it, but never got too far in the second. But yeah, there's a lot of good rumors floating around, and who even knows what they're gonna do for the holidays.

Still, it's good news to finally have some news, especially if it's for Seven Sirens. It gives me a little hope for a general direct and maybe even a Geno reveal

Had a feeling the General Direct wouldn't come until after Animal Crossing released. Seemed like Nintendo went hard on trying to focus SOLELY on hyping Animal Crossing before anything else. Now that it'll be out for a couple of days, that's perfect amount of time to start the announcements for the rest of the year.

Now the question is, will they announce FP6 this general direct? Let's hope so. Afterall Sakurai did say FP6 IS ready, which made me suspicious that it was possibly swapped with Byleth, hopefully it'll answer that question for me since I'm still debating on whether the Paragon leak is real or not. Then again we also have Mandy who was super confident on it being Crash even though he got the date completely wrong.

Idk. Thanks to Byleth we KNOW that they're willing to do First Party, so Geno is still possible until that Mii Costume returns. We still have hope my friends.

With E3 2020 cancelled, they can't afford to wait til summer to release the identity of FP6. Plus, amiibo restocks usually indicate a character release not being far off, so they have to in order to generate some hype for the pass and ultimately sales

No no I was talking about the general at first to where I responded to Fatman saying they will probably give dates to games stuck with 2020 and the Katana zero part was for the indie direct. Pff this is all over the place:emptysheep:

*pushes up glasses* Actually, its the 2nd game because Bravely the second wasnt the sequal, it was a continuation of the Bravely default using the same characters as Default. Bravely 2 is the legit sequal to Default

Yeah, Bravely Second was just the continuation of the first story since
Tiz sent his soul back to the player after the final battle. Knowing his soul wasn't his and fell into a long slumber.

What I mean by foreshadowing is that Nintendo is going to continue to let indie developers work with their IPs in unexpected ways and leave it at that. Nintendo also hasn't exactly been subtle about which indie developers they like working with so there's, based on what I know, at least two projects in the proverbial oven that will be ready to show off between now and the fall.

I would love to see wayforward work with a nintendo property. They have been huge supporters of nintendos for 2 decades...

Something to consider is that, of the bigger rumors to come out, a big question mark is who exactly is developing the games. Of ones that have been made public, a DK platformer, Paper Mario, and a 2D Metroid. It's been outright said that Retro Studios flat out is not doing the DK game so who is? The 2D Metroid rumors are interesting because some rumors have suggested an indie developer taking the reins with a particular OoOoOoOoH worthy rumor suggesting the team behind Hollow Knight. Again, even if these particular rumors aren't true, there's definitely enough behind the scenes that suggest Nintendo is going to take some flying leaps with some of their IPs this year with popular indie developers being given keys to the kingdom, so to speak.

I dont think team cherry is doing the metroid one. They are already busy with Silksong, and seems to be still focused on just that. I think the same guys who did metroid 2 remake would make meteoid 5. Otherwise, i think wayforward is the best choice other then team cherry for that game.

...

My god, this has to be one of the dumbest posts I have ever read on this thread.

Pumpkaboo, let me ask again, what the **** are you even doing here?

-You clearly don’t want Geno

-You’re almost ALWAYS derailing the thread

-You make dumb, bait posts like this to clearly squeeze reactions out of people

-You pretend like you’re innocent

-And last, but certainly not least, you try to bandwagon other characters on this thread like Sora who you know will clearly miff some of the Geno fans here.

It’s the GENO THREAD. Discussion should be about GENO.

Inb4: “wow, starlight makes it painfully obvious how hostile Geno fans are to guests on this thread”

No. That’s not it at ALL. What is it, is that people like Venus of the Desert Bloom Venus of the Desert Bloom and Megadoomer Megadoomer keep trying to swerve this thread back to Geno discussion when it gets too off track, yet they can’t even be bothered to give Pumpkaboo even just a slap on the wrist when her posts at this point have become borderline insufferable.

Pumpkaboo, we welcome guests, but it’s beyond a meme how little you belong here at this point. At least the guests that come here who don’t like Geno at least talk AROUND THE TOPIC OF GENO. You have nothing to contribute here, so why stay?

I think I speak for more than just myself when I say

I do hope Wayforward is one of them. I would definitely trust them with a platformer or Metroidvania style game. Basically Nintendo's strategy of nurturing Indies starting during the Wii era has paid off ridiculously well and, again, they're ready to make flying leaps and all that with some of their IPs.

I wouldn't really bet on Wayforward making an appearence tomorrow since they have been doing announcements on their own terms in the past couple of years. If they do, I will welcome it.

This sort of question should go in a general social thread, or a newcomer speculation thread if you're wondering what characters could be revealed. (the wording's unclear - it's hard to tell if you don't think there will be anything that makes the Direct worth watching, or if you're asking what games we think will be in the Direct, since tone is hard to figure out through text)

I don't want the thread to be derailed by people throwing out wishlists for a hypothetical Direct that hasn't been confirmed. (even the talk about the indie Direct could go to quite a few other threads; Geno's not exactly owned by an indie developer)

Throwing my Switch out the window if no direct next week. (not actually but I'll be devastated)

I don't think there is any chance for Geno or Smash related will come out of the Indie Direct so I am okay with not really investing too much time into IndieWorld.

A few things I do want to mention include:

-My write up for Geno's moveset is almost finished. Depending on when we get a General/Smash Direct and how that goes will depend on if I share it or not. It shouldn't be that long but I want to make sure that the idea is as clear as daylight.

-Operation StarFall's charity has hit over 40% of their goal which is terrific for such a short period of time! I think they can get to 100% before the end of hte month! I am hoping to get a stream set up to help bring in some more money towards their cause! It may be SMRPG, or it may be something like HG/SS. I wll probably share more information about that exclusively on the Discord server.

-Still in a bad mood over Legacy XP but I don't want to harp too much on that. Man I hope we just get a yes or no from Sakurai/Nintendo very soon. I have a life I want to live. I can't be stressing over Smash Bros forever lol

Indie directs always preceed a general direct a week or two after, so it can't be long now.

We're in the endgame now.
I don't know about that. We got an indie Direct back in December, people figured that there would be a general Direct shortly afterwards (especially since we hadn't had one since September, three months beforehand), and we got... nothing.

True, it's no guarantee that we will get a general direct, but more times than not we got a Direct.

Come on Nintendo, it's been too long. GIVE US SOME NEWS.

I understand Nintendo's direction with the Smash reveals of keeping it hidden to add ... erm, suspense or excitement, to make Smash still "current" or at least talked about. I get the excitement of not knowing things and then getting it revealed. I get it.

For Fanbases like this and others ... it tends to feel more like, I dunno, torture or whatnot.

A hybrid solution would be to announce the fighters at the beginning, but not a release date or order. So everything kind of get's excited for each "reveal" trailer to see who it will be.

I get it isn't in Nintendo's interest and this is their way to have the "feel" of the old Smash games when unlocking a character ... but man ... this just goes on and on.

Hahaha, I will *MOST DEFINITELY* be in that pile of rage. I'm fed up, this has gone on WAY too long. *THREE* directs and a Sakurai video across these 3 months, and we can't get a general direct when it's the one thing we desperately need.

Yeah, we really need a general Direct at this point. From the perspective of Switch owners, the only first party title that we know of that's definitely releasing this year is Animal Crossing. That might be enough for some (I know you're excited for it), but it's not for everyone (I've had trouble with getting into the series), and it's certainly not going to fill a whole year.

Plus, from the perspective of Smash fans, we know absolutely nothing about the second Fighters Pass beyond how many characters it has, and revealing the first character (even if it's a preview with no gameplay like Joker or Terry) would put a lot of people at ease. (and, if it's Geno, it would be a great way to start the pass by revealing a character that's probably one of the last big consistently-demanded fan favourites)

Indie World announcement cool?

Where is the Red Lattern? Hope we see it.

I also hope to see, a big crossover for one of Nintendo's IP's. Like Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the Necrodancer.

These indie games are great ones to keep an eye on so I'm excited too see what they got.

Hopefully wity this next up is the Nintendo Direct next week.

Man, a metroid, donkey kong, or heck a revival of some older nintendo properties like shin onegashima, panel de pon, kid icarus, or more, by wayforward would be great. They did a fantastic job with river city ransom, seeing then on any nintendo property would be fantastic

Y'know what I'd love to see but I know Nintendo would never go for it? Embracing randomizers. I absolutely love A Link to the Past Randomized (ALTTPR); it's breathed new life in a game made back in the 90s on the SNES era. Practically a masterpiece back in the day, but now it's like a new game with the randomizer. Imagine if it was official and on the Switch? Nintendo could even monetize it as like an "enhanced classic" game. You could easily redo the same with the other popular games that have randomizers: Metroids, Pokemon, etc. The only reason I specified ALTTPR is just because it's what I've been playing and it's arguably the biggest randomizer project out there, currently on Version THIRTY-ONE (31) and with an extensive list of customizable options, it's insane! I'd kill to see that kind of devotion for all the old greats, and getting it official on the Switch and with updates to boot made by the current team.

Total pipe dream but y'never know. Then we could also get SMRPGR, which I actually did a run of recently and it was quite insane, but very fun!

If you know what chaos editions are, what would your reaction be if they announced official Chaos Editions in a direct?
