I’m not doubting Fatmans credibility at all, but if the sources are being so tight lipped about FP5 that not even Vergeben and Sabi know about who it is, I think these names are probably leakbait.

Dude if 5 is Llyod, Nightmare, or Sol man that's awesome. I love all 3 of those series. Though Nightmare isn't my first choice for SC but oh well we all know he would be the rep. Super exciting to hear those names among leaker circles.

Well, we have two weeks from Thanksgiving until we learn the truth. My money's still on a Geno VGA reveal. We live in hope.

Nah man, I want Geno revealed soon as possible, but he’s too obscure for the general audience. Let’s wait till fighter 6 or 7.

He would never lie about anything, that is one thing I know for sure.

However, something about this just feels.... off.

If Verge and Sabi, the two biggest leakers in the game, have not been told anything about FP5, and their sources have been very tight lipped about the fifth character (Even Fatman said this himself), how has he heard these names? And hasn’t he said that saying who these names are publicly is discouraged?

Its because they dont wont to lose credibility if they do what fatman does. Sabi does not tell us stuff like fatman does because he is worried if that if people take it the wrong way and it would hurt his credibility. Fatman tells us stuff being talked about from insider and uses it to speculate. If hes wrong it does not matter because hes not a huge leaker and just hears stuff from them. So for fatman it does not matter if hes right or wrong but it does for sabi and his credibility.

But then again, even if Fatman thinks Lloyd is going to be #5 I can’t help but to find that questionable. If we’re getting an announcement at the Game Awards, Lloyd is not even the most recent or the most popular Tales protagonist. I don’t think he’s like Cloud Strife or Noctis. Yuri would fit the bill much better. I think Nightmare would fit the bill too as a Namco rep.

Don't take anything I'm saying about this that serious. Just making a joke with all these rumored or potential characters it's fun to have a good laugh about the situation at times or that's just how I see it. So yeah no worries just me being joking about all this. Wasn't meant to be meant in a serious manner.

So don't worry. Just having some fun will from time to time. But it's all in a good light humor kind of way. Also yeah Freddi Fish was the Humongous character I grew up so she's my favourite not that it matters much. But yeah.

Also Resident Evil is coming to Smash...

As spirits dang man sorry Leon, Jill, and everyone hope there's still a chance. But least we got you in some way.

That is not the point I was trying to make.

Sabi specifically said publicly that the source doesn’t feel comfortable sharing FP5 with anyone.

Assuming everyone is telling the truth, how has Fatman heard these names then?

The only option I can think of if this is all true is that he is being leakbaited. Unless there is a hole or untruth hidden within what I said.

I guarantee you that the general public has even less of an idea of whoever Yuri is than they do Lloyd. Not to mention Symphonia is the best selling Tales game

Not that I think either of them are especially good picks for the game awards but saying Yuri is more recognizable than Lloyd is kind of ridiculous

Fatman is in the same circle as Sabi and other insider people, Sabi’s heard everything Fatman has. They also have MULTIPLE sources.

Sabi has one source that’s actually from NOA who says they know who the character is, this specific source is pretty much always right and is being super tight lipped. These names are characters they’ve heard from other sources that they believe could be correct.

Recent stuff was: NoA says tales news are coming, but i dont remember him saying he heard lloyd for smash specifically. If anything, it's still a possible lead, and the fact the trademarks that came the same day he told us that, haven't been used anywhere yet (not even during the October tales event that happened, so that was very sus as it is). Lloyd's chances are high but i dont particularly remember NoA guy telling us he heard lloyd's name, i will have to dig on that chat log cause my memorry is a bit fuzzy.

Other than that, between NoA and Sabi's other big source that i can guarantee is a good one, they deconfirmed Tracer, Crash ( I almost combined those names and typed "trash"… i shouldn't be typing stuff this late in my timezone, lol), and ryu hayabusa.

Nightmare and Sol were names he (NoA) heard waaay back in summer i think, but he told us that he was 30% trusting the source HE heard it from, so not a bone i would be bitting personally. If it's not that solid, it's not worth sharing imo, but that's just me. We haven't heard anything around those names since then… so yeah. Just clarifying and recapping what we know in our private group so far.

I see.

However, if that is the case, how come the main source is being tight lipped, but all of the other sources have no problem running their mouths about numerous characters?

That has the signs of leakbait written all over it to me.

EDIT: Disregard this post, I think everything might’ve been explained.

What if this all really was one giant leak bait campaign staged by Nintendo. I can't recall any other characters having this many deconfirmations and possible choices.

I’ve been following this board for awhile now. I can safely tell you after Banjo’s reveal, he was up there (And still is ) with Ryu Hayabusa, Crash, and Doom Guy as frontrunners in speculation.

This is one crazy interesting roller coster we're on characters getting shot down as number #5 fighter pass left and right.

And all the news with Capcom today Devil May Cry's Dante potentially a future character and Resident Evil seemgly deconfirmed.

What a interesting turn of events.

I kind of find it annoying that every character in gaming is being thrown around where sources are saying this character is FP5... no this character is FP5 please just make up your mind and just say at least a company name or something.
