Im pretty sure that Yuri was the top of the official popularity polls especially the Japanese polls. Yuri would do a much better job gaining the interest among Tales fans.

He's one of the two characters that is BANNED from OFFICIAL Tales popularity polls, with the other being Leon Magnus who always placed #2 after Yuri was added. He was banned because he was too popular and made the results predictable.

In the 2010 Famitsu poll Yuri was actually ranked #7 in terms of most popular video game protagonists (although this is admittedly a bit TOO high), but he was only 1 spot below Link, LINK! The next Tales character on the list was Luke at #49.

Tales of Vesperia was really successful in Japan, and it helped sell tons of Xbox 360's in a time when Xbox was basically nonexistant in Japan.The Xbox exclusivity hurt Yuri's popularity overseas though, as Xbox was not known for RPGs. The definitive edition was JP exclusive for the longest time, and only came to modern consoles recently in 2019 and according to Namco it was a huge success. In terms of sales Vesperia has sold a total of 1.6mil to around Symphonia's 2.2-2.4mil, which isn't a huge difference. Keep in mind Xbox was not the place for JRPG's at all, and it still managed to sell over a million.

So in terms of every metric Yuri is more popular then Lloyd outside the Smash fanbase.

EDIT: Yuri also has had major crossovers in both the Project X Zone games as well as Granblue Fantasy, and Granblue is HUGE in Japan. Lloyd on the other hand has had a crossover with Soul Calibur Legends, and that game sucked (also this was before Yuri's first game).

So Yuri definitely has a good bit more recognizability then Lloyd in Japan.

Saying Yuri is less popular then Lloyd is like saying Mallow is more popular then Geno, which is blatantly untrue.

I’m not sure if this is too specific a question to ask so I’m sorry if it is; have you personally heard anything one way or the other on the extent of DLC beyond fighters? So the pass came with music and stages with each fighter; will post pass fighters come with those too, or is it looking like it’ll just be the characters?

I feel so weird, because I feel like one of the only people who don't really want any other Capcom reps, since the only Capcom rep I ever wanted already got in during Smash 4 (Megaman). beyond that, uh...megaman X or Zero would be cool. >_>

Only other Capcom games I ever really played are Ghosts and Goblins, which I disliked, and Okami, which was good but not something I was THAT crazy over and thus Amaterasu falls more into "indifferent" territory. Oh, I maybe played some licensed stuff too like Goof Troop, but that's licensed stuff, so...

Viewtiful Joe was once a huge request for Smash, being that his debut title was a Gamecube exclusive. Funny how peopledon't seem to talk about him as much anymore.

If this is how Smash decided its characters Rowlet and Lyn would be playable instead of Incineroar and Chrom. There's a reason why Smash 4 had a Lloyd costume and not a Yuri one.

I just realized that once Sol Badguy fully gets deconfirmed in a few hours (or maybe it already happened) I would basically lose every single requested character I have had with the exception of Travis Touchdown & Kos-Mos, and there's no way those characters are going to make it in. I don't know #5 but of all the hypothetical DLC characters I've heard, I don't think people would be disappointed. Keep in mind that this is a list that has Geno, Sol, Ryu, Crash, Nightmare, Dante, and Lloyd and these are just the public names. As you can see, it's very fanservicey.

Strong doubt. Neither Lara or 2B have been heard at all.. Evidence wise, Geno kind of runs away with it for potential Square reps.

No. The joke is often made that people rarely research stages and music because fans don't seem to care in comparison to characters.

Never tried it. Went on a rant in the Private Discord the other day about how painfully boring Thanksgiving is with my family. Stereotypical white people food to a T. I love to cook but Thanksgiving kind of makes me miserable because I'm not allowed to cook because my extended family is extra white and thinks salt is too spicy.

You're obviously free to like and dislike anyone but some of the things they said was "[...]the fart noises that come out of his vocal cavity" and "he's basically the Jar Jar Binks of the series".
