>people immediately counting out a RE rep when they get spirited
>yet geno gets a pass
I think post release spirits are deconfirmations tbh, if they had plans for them in wave 2 or possibly 3 I dont think this would happen

This. Considering no one knew the extent of DLC at the time of base game's completion. Much more of a hindrance to be a DLC spirit considering how odd it would be for them to drop one while having plans for them as a fighter.

We're just making up rules then just like how people say geno can't get in because there's an invisible rule that says so. We're making an exception for Geno just because he's our boy.

- Devil May Cry getting ports to Nintendo Switch after Capcom wanted fans to campaign the games before Dante in Smash before the next wave of DLC decided allegedly around E3 2019.

- Dante getting insider rumor developments.

- Resident Evil which is Dante’s biggest competition, removed via spirits.

He seems a bit more likely

After the name of Dante having popped up today, I got to thinking on the characters that supposedly won't be DLC Fighter #5 and just noticed something interesting.

- Crash: made a cameo in last year's TGAs, announcing Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled; and most recently there's been 1) images of a supposedly new render spotted on a bus where he's holding some car keys, and 2) rumors of a new Crash Bandicoot game in the works.

- Ryu Hayabusa: a few months ago was revealed to be a playable character in Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate via Twitter (specifically on September 3; the day before the Nintendo 9.4.2019 Direct).

- Doom Slayer: DOOM games (1, 2, 3) have been ported to the Switch, as well as DOOM Eternal and DOOM 64 coming early next year (as announced by Pete Hines within the 9.4.2019 Nintendo Direct).

- Geno: No direct announcement in regards to him (with the exception of the anniversary tweet last year), but all the contrary; no Geno Mii Costume as of yet, nor even during Hero's reveal and Mii Costume showcase.

- Dante: Devil May Cry 1 and 2 have been ported to the Switch, and... although this might be a bit reaching but... the latest entry released within the DMC series is numbered V. ... Five... WAS IT HIM ALL THIS TIME?!?! Ok ok, I kid, I kid. And as I was JUST writing this, Nintendo officially announces via twitter that we'll be getting Resident Evil spirits this upcoming Nov. 29. Like... WHAT?!?!?! That could go either way (increase Dante's chances for DLC, or solidify the chances of a RE rep within the DLC).

Come to think of it... oh God... we legit have RE 1 through 6 on Switch. CAN IT BE?!?!?!?! AM I STILL ON THIS CRAZY TRAIN?!?!?! :2gud:

Except for the logical reasoning I detailed in my last post.

Yes, all of these "rules" are arbitruary and nonexistent. Its called deductive reasoning.

And its keeping many potential fighters alive, not just Geno.

My question on the last page was not answered. Should we expect two character reveals at the Video Game Awards?
It could happen, but I wouldn't count on it. I can't think of many occasions where two fighters were announced in quick succession outside of dedicated Smash events or a unique fighter being announced alongside a clone/echo fighter.

Also, just a reminder (or in case anyone was unaware of it) that we do have a Dante thread here: https://smashboards.com/threads/keepin-it-in-style-dante-for-smash-ultimate.446379/

There’s SMRPG missing in SNES online games.

The idea for those wondering is that if they were planning on adding a RE character as dlc, then why would they have also planned to have a slew of RE spirits added in so late in especially when they would have otherwise been part of the spirit board or one of the fighters themselves.

We don’t know Lloyd (we’ve just been kinda assuming) and we know Doomguy isn’t one of them, Fatman said they hadn’t heard anything about him until the CacoMallow leak

Heads up - I highly doubt it means much of anything - but they deleted and then re-up'd the announcement on the NintendoVS twitter. So now, instead of "Conquer the looming fear! For 5 days starting 11/29, four new spirits from the Resident Evil series are shambling onto the Spirit Board in Super #SmashBrosUltimate! Check it out!", they took out the "From the Resident Evil Series" part, and just added all the character names. What a weird change to make.

While Dante's chances are looking good right now, so are Phoenix's. He is Dante's main rival currently.

So Resident Evil just ****ing died on a random Tuesday huh? That's certainly something and now it all comes down to DMC vs. AA for who may be the potential Capcom character.

Honestly while I never was and likely never will be too big of a Resident Evil fan I do feel bad for people who genuinely like the series as it's a highly influential and popular series that by all means has a lot of reputation going for it and is an iconic series to the point that if there was a series that deserved to be in Smash (which deserving to be in Smash isn't really a thing) RE may be apart of that list.

Honestly RIP Resident Evil it was nice knowing ya'. At least Phoenix is still in the running though so I'm not too bummed out.

On the one hand, I think this probably deconfirms Resident Evil content for pass 2 as well as one since I doubt they would be releasing these Spirits if they were currently negotiating for an RE character.

On the OTHER hand, I think the chances that we’re getting some kind of Capcom character in Wave 2 shot way up. “Leakbait” Dante AND negotiations this late in the game with Capcom for... Spirits? Something’s up.

EDIT: I suppose I should mention that I currently have a conspiracy theory that Amaterasu is Wave 2, and early negotiatons for her in Smash are what prompted Capcom to approach Kamina to direct an Okami sequel recently.

I log on and Papagenos discord is in chaos for some reason and the twitter link people are freaking out about is down.

I am very confused.

What'd they change?
I mentioned it earlier, but it was such an odd thing that they felt the need to modify; All they did was remove the original wording of the spirits being "From the Resident Evil series", and replaced that with listing each character by name. I guess they figured it'd read better if people saw the names of the characters to see what, exactly, they were getting this weekend in the Spirit board, but, it was still kind of weird, considering there was nothing inherently wrong with how it was worded before? It was odd.

Aw man, Resident Evil wasn't one of my top favorites, but dam it deserved a spot on the roster. That sucks. At least my boy Phoenix has a bigger shot now.
