If this leak is legitimate and not just someone screwing up like the time that Duck Tales Remastered was listed as having amiibo support, I'm hoping that we get Terry Bogard or Geese Howard, though that's mainly for the voice acting. We don't know but there's no new company listings so that basically narrows it down to companies already in Smash.

Tinfoil hat time: Nintendo's going the sandwich approach again, like they did E3: a somewhat unpopular character followed up by a megaton but this time it's someone not from a new company.

You know what. That's actually interesting. Hear me out on this fellas. Usually stuff like this leaks when a new character is going to be announced, they put one with a company on their website and one without one, which implies that the one without is a character already from a company already in smash.

Now apparently one of the leakers in the discord that sabi uses has hinted at the starling image for a while now. I don't know any SNK character that can possibly be related to said bird besides that one girl with the eagle, but the leaker clarified the type of bird is the important bit.

What if the reason there isn't a separate company related to the final smash character because the final character is within smash already. What if the starling bird really was hinting at GENO being the final pick after all. What if, we're getting both announcements next direct.

Unless our leaker is pulling our leg, this could be very good news for Geno since no company outside of whats already in smash is going to represent the final character.

Banjo might actually be the only character I like in the fighter pass if thats the case. I should have expected this to happen really.

That would make sense. Leon would be from an already-repped company, after all. He's not related to STARS, though, so I'd think Jill Valentine instead.

Wow, things picked up really fast the moment that the copyright leak dropped.

I will be the first to admit I know little to nothing about SNK video games. I have played Metal Slug for an afternoon once with a friend, and I was bewildered by the beauty of the pixel art. But that's about as far as I've gotten with that particular company.

I'm ready to see who the final pick is so that the dust may settle, for sure. I'm not keeping my hopes too high, but, maybe with a dash of luck, Geno will arrive, and everybody will be happy!

For me, as discussion has been wonderful - I will be taking a bit of a break from the thread until the Direct has come and gone. Discussion has been solid with all of ya'll. I'll pop back in again later.

Yikes. So that character 5 page means nothing. It could be a rep from a new company.

Yeah, I sincerely think that both Geno isn't happening and we're getting a downgrade from Smash 4 (no Mii costume, just a PNG).

Unless it's from Metal Slug, then I won't care about this character either since I haven't played any other SNK games. Same with Persona and Dragon Quest. At least Banjo was my most wanted. This pass seems to appeal more to the Japanese fanbase than to the West. Hopefully the last character will be Geno, Crash, or Doomguy.

You know, there are two slots remaining. If my math is correct, Geno is a single character. That means there will be another character even if Geno gets in. Ergo, one character could still be Geno. Nothing ever suggested that Geno would be Fighter #4 specifically so I’m not really bothered by this development. Especially if #5 comes from a company already represented in the game.

If we're talking about SNK reps, I'm hoping it's either a Metal Slug character or Nakoruru. Metal Slug because it's the only SNK thing I grew up with and Nakoruru because I love the idea of her using a bird. Pretty much all of their characters look like they'd bring something interesting to the table, so I can't really be mad regardless of who it is

Mai is one of the most emblematic KoF characters. I don't think she's in but I wouldn't see an issue unless they added that win pose. It's more likely Nakoruru though, given the flying weapon thing and the fact that they're trying to revive SamSho.

Bayonetta wasn't a fan favorite? She was the most wanted in Europe and probably averaged like top 6 or 7 worldwide. They even said she was the most realizable when you consider her competition was characters like Snake and Banjo.

Yeah I don't think we're getting Geno either the more I think about it. Could his Mii Costume missing mean something? Sure, Absolutely but it could just as easily mean that Sakurai doesn't care as much as we think he does and Square doesn't care at all. We could easily get just a downgrade and that's it.

The Mii Costume could mean nothing, The Starling photo more than likely means nothing and those two things were the final two things keeping me from counting Geno out. I wish I could be hopeful and think Geno is in but I don't, I think Geno is gone.

Plus Nintendo never knows how to go out with a bang which Geno would've been. I'm sorry but I think he's done for unless we get a miracle.

Not surprised at all that SNK is getting representation, apparently King of Fighters and Samurai Showdown are incredibly popular in the South American and Chinese markets. With Dragon Quest for Japan and Banjo for the West, an SNK character for SA and China makes sense. My guess is going to be Nakoruru. She fits the “Female fighter with a flying weapon” perfectly and she was actually voted the third most popular SNK character, ahead of Mai.
