Sounds about right though i am a little bit on the Closing Season 1 Fighter Pass Direct possibility. Budget wise i really dont know to be honest i thought this game is swimming in money. But of course business is business there has to be restrictions. Anyways, Fatmanonice Fatmanonice You think any chance of receiving these DLC's ahead of schedule? Sakurai mentioned ( im sure there is quote from him somewhere) stating that they are ahead of schedule. Hence why we got Hero and Banjo trailers. They both looked very much done. Your thoughts on that.
The game is making bank but there's still a budget at the end of the day. It's just good business sense and planning. Trying to be as under or on budget as possible even when you're swimming in money is a quality of good leadership.

Do I think we'll get 4 and 5 by the end of the year? Possibly. I still believe that February was a personal deadline and, again, it's a characteristic of good planning. One argument that could be made for it wrapping up by January is that it would ultimately save money because it would be less time to pay workers for. With the budget being a concern, I could see that being a route they take, especially when we pair this with how they're supposedly way ahead of schedule according to Sakurai.

Well, if it's SNK related, that leaves 3 options: Mai Shiranui, Terry Bogard, or Kyo.

Too weak to be my reaction. I see playable fighter Geno? I'm going nuclear. Nothing for miles will survive. No living soul will go without knowing exactly how unendingly pumped I am. Maybe even the dead will know it. My friends, family and maybe even my coworkers will be scared for my sanity as I cry my eyes out over a DLC character in a children's party game.

I might just die, but at least I'll have died happy.
The way you would react sounds like how a Regular Show character would react to it. The dimensions between our world and other universes would split or merge into one lol!

Again, I wouldn't count out Mai Shiranui. She's arguably just as big an icon as Terry Bogard is in the fighting game community

I only know of Mai and Terry, but Mai seems to be the more iconic of the two from my casual level.

I...really don't want another classic fighting game rep. There are so many genres that aren't represented and they want to go with yet another fighter.

Apparently DLC 5 leaked too and, uh, there's no new copyright so it's probably someone from an already represented company... Boy... That's... Hmmm... *starts to vibrate*
Wait what?! Where?

Well, there goes Doom Marine, Crash Bandicoot, and anyone else who doesn't have a rep yet in Smash. SNK rep is cool, though. I hope it's Terry Bogard. I LOVE his design.

As for the last rep... Hnnngh... I really hope it's Geno...

Wait a second, if 4 and 5 both leaked simultaneously... maybe we are getting BOTH character announcements in this Direct?

Damn, SNK is quite possibly the most disappointing company to get a rep in Smash. Like, their series are fine, not my personal pick of games, but it just feels... anticlimactic to turn to them when there are so many other companies with large IPs that maintain consistent relevance on a broad scale. SNK has never meant anything to me other than a laundry list of NEOGEO re-releases, an occasional King of Fighters, and an occasional Samurai Showdown (Which is who I would suspect the character to be if we're getting one). Like, I guess, props for getting another classic fighting game character in... but you went over Tekken, Soulcalibur, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, hell, even Blazblue to go for SNK's already more niche than niche properties?

I'm not convinced this means anything, but just the idea comes off as super weird and out of character for Sakurai. Like, some people will call Persona 5 niche despite selling two million copies, but I don't think I've seen anything that implies any of SNK's titles have done particularly well (the only sales figures I can find are first week sales for a few games, and they're pretty low/average).

The only way this makes sense to me is if Sakurai legitimately blew the entire budget on the first three characters and SNK was the cheapest option lol.

Edit: Like I'm usually super supportive for almost any option for Smash, but just SNK doesn't come from a huge background or have that many IPs that are mainstream/that well liked. The NeoGeo itself was one of the more classic niche gaming machines and that's pretty much their legacy outside of arcades. Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, and Samurai Showdown are all solid games... but just, to go from DQ to anything SNK is an astoundingly massive drop in quality and overall cross-over potential (which is something I hugely value with Ultimate). I could see how most other options make people happy, I don't see how any of these characters make many people happy except for like MaximillainDood on Youtube.

I mean, given SNK was a huge inspiration for Smash to begin with, it's not that out-of-character. In fact, it actually makes sense, and that does appeal to the fighting game community quite well. I've seen a lot of people in that neck of the woods hoping for Terry Bogard.

That means it's down to one slot left for Geno to have his chance. That's kinda nerve-wracking... but then again, I have a feeling Akira and Jacky are getting their costumes back with Terry. Maybe Geno's will come back with the final rep, unless that final rep is him by some miracle. I'm not counting on it, though. Unless we get more DLC, I think his chances are shot unless we somehow get a double reveal with Geno referencing the starling.

The coolest of the SNK characters I've seen is Kio, but if they're fun I'd gladly accept any of them.

No history with the company but I do think they have some cool potential for a fighter.

My question is does SNK have anything that could be related to starling?
