Having the Smash finals start that late is probably the best evidence so far against a big reveal, sadly.

This is why I'm more partial to another announcement of an announcement like last year. While a shadow drop would be amazing, something like a 10 second clip of "Hey, yo, a trailer/Direct is coming later this week so, uh, quit your job so you can watch it at home in your underwear! Smoochie boochies! - Large, In Charge With Huge Nards, Papa Sakurai" seems more realistic.

Remember how Pac-Man got announced? I doubt they'd do that with Geno but we have to remember that there are so many ways they could announce him.
1) Like Pac-Man was announced to a small room of people before showing it off entirely.
2) As a model like Mewtwo during Smash 4
3) As an animated trailer like Joker
4) As a trailer like Banjo and Hero

Honestly, who knows? They have so many ways they could handle it that I have no clue which way they'd do it.

I've never played SMRPG before, to be fair. I've only ever really liked Geno because I find his appearance and concept very cool, so I don't know what his personality is.
I guess what I mean is his actions and opinions towards other characters in Smash, like Rosalina, Pit, etc.

My own bias aside, this really is turning into one of the most interesting sagas in Smash history. Most people counted Geno down and out, with most people saying the Geno Mii costume was all but a lock for almost 10 months and then... it didn't happen. Now all of sudden people are looking at all the small details we as a fanbase have been pointing out for nearly a year and I think a lot of people are thinking to themselves, "oh ****... this might ACTUALLY happen..." and that itself is super satisfying. Most people had flat out given up because "it was the logical thing to do" but now that he's reasonably back on the table again, a lot of people are rediscovering their hope for the character. It's as big of an underdog story that the Smash fanbase could wish for.

It's as big of an underdog story that the Smash fanbase could wish for.

To be fair, Geno has been one of the strangest characters ever in terms of Smash's development. He's super popular across the board, was considered for both Brawl AND Smash 4, had a Mii Costume dedicated to his popularity, and this is a character who has only ever appeared outside of cameos for just one game. He's an anomaly but his fanbase alone is one of the strongest in the entire Smash community. He'll (hopefully) return to us for the first time in over 2 decades.

I actually intend on getting an SNES classic later this year to play it sometime. My best friend and I want to experience this game in full soon and as authentically as possible, as we could get it on Wii U but the SNES classic just feels right.

Okay, so 7PM PDT is 10PM EDT, not 1AM or something insane like that. While I’m not entirely confident in a reveal tonight, it could definitely happen.

My point exactly. I don't think times really matter, especially since E3 was late at night in Japan while it was midday EST.

I remember that being a message you made after the Mii costume did not appear. I can see why a lot of people could be hoping for something today due to how you put it.

He basically put it as something that was coming (ie; not Hero and not Fire Emblem), but didn't specify how soon. As I've said before, this will be the first time a hint was made super far in advance if it doesn't pan out today. Plus, there's also the fact that he would always explain himself after the fact. For example, he went into full detail about the Link's Awakening hint after the game was actually revealed. If it had to do with Fire Emblem or Hero, we would have explained it to us by now.

The game looks beautiful in HD on the SNES Classic. I played and finished the game for the first time ever on the SNES Classic almost 2 years ago. I beat the final boss Smithy 4 minutes before midnight on New Years Eve back in 2017. Kicking Smithy's *** was the last thing I did that year.

On the other hand, the reveal (if there even is one) might come before grand finals, which could be around 1 am or later going by how long the other games are scheduled to take. I don't want to wait all that time only for there to be no reveal, though I probably won't wait up for it.

I think you’re making it much more difficult in your mind than it has to be. Smash starts 10PM EST, 7PM PST. That is 9PM central.

The DLC so far is available near the date of the newest amiibos waves being released.

Base game and wave 1 come out same day.

Plant is out the end of January, wave 2 (which actually has plant) is 2 weeks later.

Joker was April 16. Wave 3 was April 12.

Hero was July 31. Wave 4 was July 26.


Wave five is set for September 20th. A few days later is fall.

Wave 6 is November, a common estimated time people see character 4 coming, perhaps near the end.

And wave 7 is 2020, but most likely the first quarter.


Of course, just a pattern seen so far, but its interesting how it lines up.
