So I'm picking up Melee, for srs this time. Brawls a bit boring to me lately.
Fox, Peach and Sheik are the ones I'm going to train more so (against CPUs SIIIGH).
What's (without reading elsewhere) some of the AT's I should be incorperating into my game?

L-Cancelling
Dash Dancing comes naturally.
Jump Cancelled Grabbing as well.
There are a zillion things you can learn with wavedashing/landing.
Then there's a lot of character specific stuff.
Come to Tempest, we'll teach you.

I wish I got into smash tourneys before borewl came out.
I like it, but simply watching Melee is more fun so learning it will be awesome.

nova don't give up. I started playing melee last year and you need to put in alot of effort, but just keep playing people better than you and it just comes to you. practice simple things like learning the physics and mechanics of the game agianst CPU's, but dont get disheartened when a melee veteran absolutely stomps you, because it WILL happen. just keep on playing, I'm one of the top competitors in qld now cuz i kept at it.
No better state to learn melee at than qld. Melee is big here and everyone will be keen to play you and teach you.

Agreed with Robsy, playing against CPUs is only 'so' fun and helpful, better to play people, better or worse or equal, you learn things as you go, as is with Brawl and any other fighting game - playing only those better than you just puts you off.
Alternatively, watching videos can also help. Just keep remembering what mind-games/combos they do during your game and it'll eventually stick, I think.

I got no one to play anymore who's MY character in Aussay, maybe I'll just stick to Mewtwo only.
Agreed with Robsy, playing against CPUs is only 'so' fun and helpful, better to play people, better or worse or equal, you learn things as you go, as is with Brawl and any other fighting game - playing only those better than you just puts you off.

kas when youre new to the scene and people like you and ryan know so much **** about the game, there is alot to catch up on. I still learn new things all the time, especially about DI and SDI and priority and stuff.
just dont be upset when u get slaughtered is my main point, especially if u main a char that is a punching bag for every other melee player out there. (Dont main falcon. unless u like busting ***** *** combos that make you feel cool. then main falcon).

but yeah, there's tons of players in qld who will be willing to teach you at tempest while they're not playing matches. ask vyse to point you to the more friendly ones if you get stuck finding a melee buddy =D (which i doubt will happen)

he's still bad though. Not really but it's too hard to win in australia with characters that arent marth / fox / falco / sheik cuz the only people to learn against are better than you and main a better character. lol.

I USED to use him and do RELATIVELY well with him, but I don't really play him no more.

It's a bit ridiculous, though, because people complain about projectile spamming yet if Link gets too close he just gets destroyed.
Basically you have to put up with constant*****ING to play Link, and I cbf doing that.
It's bad enough with ANY character, god.

I use Link. But he's pretty bad because EVERY top tier character has auto-combos on him. Fox/Falco/Shiek/Jiggs/Marth/Falcon...it's hard to be Link.
