Been trying to play this game again, but the PS3 pad is ******** and I can't do much with it and I can't really bother getting an arcade stick either T_T

I'd be mad salty if one person decided to drop 50k just to take over smash and sg. Where's the community in that?

Lol at those Melty/3S/Injustice numbers. On SRK they said apparently a bunch of Japanese players were planning to get it to $50k, but people are expecting another game like Divekick to randomly come out of nowhere. I'm admittedly conflicted between the 3 games in that I'd almost rather all 3 of them got there at some point or got Top 4 of the 2nd/3rd place games streamed. Like...for Skullgirls, they seem to think "we'll still show up and do a side tourney" and with Super Turbo, there might still be a Tournament of Legends. However, Smash really seems to (from what I've seen) feel that this drive is all or nothing and that if they don't win then they're not going to run a side tournament.

It's not that smash won't get a side tournament. We're trying to get into evo main roster entirely for recognition purposes. A side tournament doesn't get nearly as much exposure (it won't get an official stream or anything). The years smash has held a side tournament there is an example of that.

There's no reason for any of the pros to come out to the tournament either if it's simply a side tournament. A regional TO could host an event with one day of notice and more people would go to that than evo. It's not like we'd get any exposure anyway (and it's less expensive).

Skullgirls is looking to evo as a way to bolster an active tournament scene (which could happen with a side tournament anyway) and ST is already well respected in the first place.

I feel like SG has the most riding on this. SG rarely gets streamed, so I bet most of the FGC haven't even seen SG post-patch yet. Plus it's a possibility that getting into Evo will allow a publisher to help fund them and deliver more content or a sequel.

Melee already has recognition from real fighting game players, imo.

I love ST, but I do hope one of the other two games make it in.

Also, when's that Melty Blood snipe

Too poverty.

I agree with Minato. ST and Melee have had their day, and while they are both great games, I think SG should be the ones to take it. It would be a great opportunity for the game.

Yeah, whether Smash may like it or not, they already have had their time in EVO, and with that same game, so it's not as if it's Smash Bros 4 trying to make it in. Couple that with the likelihood of another ST Tournament of Legends regardless of whether it makes it in or not, and I'd agree this is more make or break for SG.

I'd argue against what Minato said but I'm heavily biased towards Smash and I don't see how EVO would affect SG nearly as much. I dunno if we should get into that discussion here.

No one really considers smash's time at evo to be good either I think.

When KOF was at EVO last year, pretty much everyone I know who plays FGs went out and bought a copy. Don't know how many of them stuck with it, but it still shows off the game, and since SG doesn't have any known prominent players, it would be a good time for them to show what the game can do.

And I don't think anyone here would put you on blast for rooting for Melee, haha.

A lot of people I know bought it too. Only some stuck with it sure, but with how crazy hype that Top 8 was, it shows sometimes all a good game needs is a little exposure. And man...I can't believe I'm being super-supportive of SG when it seems like less than a year ago I was against it.

*brofists.*

I concur.

But I really have nothing against Skullgirls, or even Super Turbo. If either of those games get in, then great, that's wonderful for them.

Haha, yeah. And then I wound up going from trying a match to playing it for 45 minutes straight. Reminds me, you should totes come out to UMAD in June.
I definitely want to. At this point, I see no reason why I can't, just got to save some money for the train. I find the Maritimes are getting more and more major tournaments, to the point where I just can't travel to all of them.

UMAD looks like it'll be awesome though, and I had a great time last year. Gonna make it if I can.

If Melee wasn't on the list, I'd definitely want SG to win. I've always wanted to go into the game (I bought it right after the patch) but my smash scene suddenly picked back up so I'm focusing a large amount of time there instead (I just had to be a spacie player didn't I =/).

The one thing KoF had different than SG is that there were actually players attending events and such. It had international reps didn't it? It's unfortunate SG doesn't have that kind of dedication. (Doesn't help that the X360 version still hasn't patched the game from what I've heard?). Not gonna lie, that 2 person donation tournament has me very skeptical on the amount of people actually willing to travel out for the game.

If only I had more time to play more games lol. Fighters are so time consuming /o\.

How're peeps finding SFxT v.2013?
Yoshimitsu is really good now in my opinion. Not top tier, but not terrible. His srk. Sword swipe being an anti-air is a godsend though. He's a favourite of mine, but I hardly used him in Vanilla SFxT; he's now my second most used after a day XD.
I was looking forward to the patch, but hopefully this'll increase activity in the game, as it's definitely deserving of attention now lol.

I would have liked to see SG, even though I can't imagine myself ever playing it seriously, I really respect that game.

I haven't really payed attention to anything Smash related in years, so it will be cool to see some Melee.

Over 200k total, damn that's impressive.

I haven't played SFxT since its first week.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, but team games aren't really my thing.

So I guess you haven't really tried out TTT2, huh? Though I don't blame you if you haven't, that game makes my hands hurt like hell trying to learn it.

And Melee, huh? Well...I just hope they don't screw it up, is all.

Congrats Melee. Also, amazing job from everyone that donated to any of the games. Mike Z's speech and announcement at the end of the drive made me sad not seeing SG win though, but at least it was Melee that ended up winning over them.

Pretty good, been messing with the cast and trying to get a feel for who I want to use. Game's a lot better now and more fun (especially with the changes to rolls and throws).

Melee's been at Evo before with Smash ruleset before, so it'll be fine.

Yeah, I know Smash has been at EVO, but I've been hearing a lot about how there was some giant issue with things those years, though whether that's SRK blowing things out of proportion like usual or not, who knows.

And Soul Calibur V is really good for sure, even if I haven't unlocked people yet. Though I have to admit, that as a Kilik and Xianghua player, Xianghua's kids feel like...I don't want to say "watered down" or "lesser" versions of their parents but well...

I only play Viola and ZWEI; the only characters I care about now that they made Kilik a Edge master sort of guy. As for Tekken, I've always been a Lili/Hwoarang guy in Tekken. Some Lars.

I also think EVO will be fine. I think the only issue is friction among other fighters in regards to Melee, but I don't see that blowing itself up. We're used to it.

Still, is Melee still guaranteed the 8th spot at EVO even if the donations haven't been officially verified yet?

Hwoarang, huh Sakurazaki? I admittedly gave up on him quickly in TTT2 because whenever I'd try to do punch strings he'd just stop and do that weird taunt and I'd eat half a life bar. Bouncing around a bunch of teams in that, just like in SCV I don't think I'd be able to find a main yet.

And methinks I'll be on P4A later today too. With my printer working, maybe I can some actual Narukami combos...while remembering to NOT try to do everything at once, picture when they could be useful, and not neglecting fundamentals.
