Does anyone really use Zelda?
Hmm........
Well, I sure as hell don't, and I've never heard of anyone being good with Zelda. If anyone wishes to prove me wrong, I'd be curious to maybe see a Youtube video of Zelda kicking someone's ***.

So, it's possible (anything's possible) but in short, no, nobody really uses Zelda.

Lol, I get wrecked by marths single forwardb into uptilt. Maybe cause at high damage im always trying to DI up and in for survival of other moves. Regardless, if marth is skilled and doesnt want you in his personal space, you aren't getting in his personal space easily or often. I find many of my kills on marth come from bad spacing on blocked fsmashes that lead to a kick outa shield. If marth never fsmashes (besides after you land an upb or out of a throw) not only will the match take a lot longer... but I would be struggling for ko's. I've heard mow messes up marths but I havent seen it personally, id be interested to know how he goes at it. But for me marth is almost certainly my worst zelda matchup, only somewhat close to a fast and grab-happy captain falcon.

P.S. Space animals, samuses, and other projectile heavy characters I find pretty fun to play against.

I feel 10x more secure as shiek vs falco or fox. When I'm Zelda I have to pay crazy focus on the matchup. Pretty much tunnel vision. I don't need to try an powershield when i'm sheik But I do when I'm Zelda. I don't have to worry so hardcore about spacing when i'm shiek as I do when I'm Zelda. I have way more stuff to worry about when I'm zelda than I do when I'm shiek, Marth, Jiggs, maybe even fox, although my fox loves to suicide.

But! That's why I like playing Zelda ;D. It makes me work on things I didn't think to work on when I was Shiek Fox Jiggs. I still gotta look for spacing hardcore on marth though. Because I NEED to powershield Falco, I learned it on Zelda. Now I can kinda apply it to marth and captain falcon. But the timing feels different for powershield...

...Nobody I know. They pretty much only use her after knocking the percentages up with Shiek for a KO.

Nope. Balance is the key. I switch between Sheik and Zelda to change playing styles and comboing purposes. It can catch an opponent off-guard.

I love using zelda she brings the best out in me. ever since I got melee ive used zelda (and the others but mostly her). i like the new chalengies she brings as a character. Even though she is low on the tier list I personaly think she is a good character as long as you know how to play her and be good at it

I would have to disagree. If anything Zelda has farther reach (per say) then shiek and her grab has an unusual distance and priority. Against the space animals i usually own them, even when falco's shl-ing me. Cause, honestly, that's the only thing that might set me up. Fox's shine IS powerful but he has to get close and Zelda has her grab cheapness and her smash ruthlessness.

Zelda's Grab sucks and it's slow you have no idea. 2nd I can L-cancel any aerial with shiek and a jab or grab after that is faster than any of Zelda's Lcanceled aerials to a move. I'm sorry but you are playing horrid FAlco's and fox if you think Zelda's grab is cheap.

I agree with Zone 100%. Zelda's grab game takes alot of skill to use in high level play. Sheik on the other hand is all about the grabs. Very large contrast.

I'm not saying shiek sucks i'm saying zelda is underestimated. The speed of her grab doesn't matter if you use it properly. If you're going for chain grabs, then you fail. lol. You can grab an approaching fox or falco before they even hit you; assuming it's a head on attack and not a properly executed shfflc. If there's a hitbox with grabs, her's is like a running marths...unusually far in front of themselves. That and all her throws are useful.

Elana has her timing on grabs down to just about perfection: If I don't space properly, I know I'm in a grab. She's finding ways to get around my jabs to prevent shield grabbing too.:urg: She just knows what she's doing with that thing.

Don't get me wrong. She'll be the first person to complain on how much her grab sucks.

That's assuming you know they are coming right at you and not doing a fake dash in to bait you into an attack. A missed grab being one of the biggest openings for them to hit you. You have to assume they attack way too early for you to grab like that. Way too early to be sure you grab them. They can wavedash backwards. Dash dance away, waveland away. And you really can't afford getting hit by a space animal. Falco or fox can combo the crap out of Zelda.

IMO you're better off jabbing Dash attacks.
Out running aerials.
Uptilting down+airs (Trade hits)
Than you are to risk trying to grab a move coming at you. which may not be a move at all, but a bait to trick you into opening yourself.

Only time you can be sure you are grabbing, is after Smash Attacks, Downtilts, or dash attacks that end infront of you. Or if you combo them into a grab.

That's because, in my examples Ganon is more safely shield grabbed than a Spacie, Shiek, or any of your choice of fast characters. Besides, I suggest you just trick her into coming at you for once and jump backwards and foward C-stick her approach. Try throwing that in. Since I try and space. That usually gets ganon out of my range If I expected a shield. and after my move misses, Ganon usually hits my feet and sends me flying. Yea watch out for kick out of shield >.> it's pretty easy to do that to ganon.

But my beginning point is. I was more comfortable with shiek still even vs a Ganon. Mainly cuz I can chain grab them to death >.>;. Ganondorf can chain grab me to like what? 40%? that's a big advantage in the match up. And it also depends on the level.

All I care about is Zelda in Brawl, and how much better she will be. Any thoughts on how she can be improved?

My idea:

Zelda's B moves should be reworked, and her tilts need some help. Her F Smash is good, D Smash and U Smash need some help. Keep her Fair and Bair, and give her a better Dair to defend herself, like the Uair but downwards.

Zelda doesn't need alot of speed, but needs reworked B moves, and A moves. Give her more power and range to make up for speed.

It's pointless to contemplate this IMO. It's already been sorta proven she has the same moveset as before. Possibly differen't timing and dmg on some moves. But it's still repeated moves. perhaps the physics for upsmash and forward smash won't suck so much.

Yeah, she's already caught on to my retreating Fairs. ;) Elana is a smart one, she is. Very smart player.

WTF Foxes have you been playing? Good luck getting a grab on a good Fox... If they're good enough, getting close enough to shine you won't be a problem.. :p Falco's shl is probably my last concern in that matchup (yay for powershielding!), everything else he has is so much gayer..

For Brawl, i'd just give her upB little to no, landing (not initiation) lag (like mewtwo, or maybe a bit better) and I dont think you would need to change anything else. I'd like to see some hot zelda teleportation combos.

*cough* but if you wanted to go crazy, you could give her light arrows for forwardB (I never actually played TP myself is this legit?) and make dinns fire downB (do the other zelda powers even appear in TP?) and make it more like a spherical aoe around her body (like I think it was in OoT which I also, consequently never really played myself) but it looks like dinns fire is already in and the same as it was before... meh

LOLOLOLOLOL! Made me laugh.

Yeah, I was hoping that the landing lag of wind would be improved, but evidently not, for those who have watched the subspace emissary clip. That made me so upset. I didn't care about how cool the entire update was, or that Peach had been shown, I was so pissed. I stick to Zelda, because I played her before imbalance was even a question for me, but now that I am more smash aware, and conscious of the ****ing a move like that will cause the character, I feel I will have to dump her. I can only hope now, that it was a gross cinematic exageration of the move, but I doubt that. ...And Din's fire looks just as useless as ever, but I can't tell. Maybe it's faster and more moveable now- all it shows is her body doing the motions really. I really want to doubt that both these moves will be as crappy as before, because Sakurai keeps saying things about making smash a competitive game, and righting the wrongs of melee, and giving characters a new playing style, etc. HERE'S TO HOPING THAT ZELDA PWNS IN BRAWL!!! :bigthumbu

I know Sakurai's going to tweak her moves a little, but I can't think of what he can do to make them better but not overpowered without removing/replacing them.

Actually, while we're on the subject of Zeldas moves, what's going to happen to her down B. Link has been given the Twilight Makeover, and same with Zelda more or less. So...what will her Down B....be? lolz

No Sheik *prays* so what could it possible be? It would be nice if she had a bow or something.

I would prefer is they split Zelda and SHeik. I try to use Sheik as little as possible when playing.
I feel like Sheik may be the "better character" bet Zelda is the most fun for me.
The only time I have a problem with Zelda is when I am fighting a character who has speed.

Except Link's existing moves were just altered slightly to suit TP. I hate to say it but I'm starting to think they'll keep Sheik a part of Zelda. And I don't know how you change her moves to suit TP when they weren't hers to begin with.
