The question I need to ask is who do you think would be Playable first

Toad, Waluigi, or Geno?
Waluigi and Toad fans (and Geno fans, kind of) seem convinced that their character is stuck in the current role they have and that Sakurai has no interest in promoting them to playable status. But I actually feel pretty confident in both of their chances for the next Smash.

Waluigi is practically the next Ridley in terms of popularity. And Captain Toad is being pushed more and more by Nintendo to the point that Sakurai will surely recognize his importance as a Nintendo icon. I still believe that if Sakurai were to have added just two or three more Nintendo characters to Ultimate’s base roster that Captain Toad would have surely been one of them.

So call me biased, but I think Toad. Captain Toad to be specific.

Today is a monumental day for the series as it came out today Japan time!

Who would think the series would reach the point it has today?
And to think that, if all goes well, it could only get even more jam-packed from here on out. Still holding onto hope for some of my pipe dreams one day! (At this point, I've been obnoxious enough for you guys to know who, and for that, I apologize).

Alright, a question for y'all:

What stage you want most in the game? Mine is Casino Night Zone from Sonic 2.

jcl9SV3.jpg

The funny thing is, i've never been a big Sonic fan, but i used to play Sonic games a lot when i was a kid and i always loved this stage in particular: the music, the layout, the BGM's, it's just perfect to me, can't explain why.

How about yours?

either bowser's castle or chemical plant, both of them are great and I really wish they were in the game.

I wonder how Technology in 20 years would Affect Smash. Depending on if it could make creating the actual assets to implement characters in the game easier, we could see roster Sizes that dwarf even Ultimate's

Then again, with an increase in technology, there's also an increase in expectations, so perhaps those expectations might limit the amount of characters we could get 20 years after

This also takes into account if Smash continues in the same form it is today. Depending on where Gaming is, and what other mediums might take over, could dictate what happens to Smash in the future. It's possible gaming dies 20 years later, maybe if virtual reality becomes a big thing and actually affordable for the Casual audience
Who knows? I mean, with technology coming a long way with deep fakes, motion tracking, AI doing alot of work from learning how to do fluid movements to making random stories to being capable of making artwork people only thought talented artists could ever do...like the possibilities are pretty limitless. MUGEN-made-easy and Smash Bros. characters taking alot less effort may not be a far-off dream.

That said, despite how rapid technology is developing, I guess the only thing that will affect it is what happens in the future. Like.......this year really did a number on people and recovery has only begun. We now have to hope that the recovery goes smoothly.

Ooh, songs I'd love for this stage are:

  • Casino Night
  • Casino Night 2P
  • Spring Stadium (3D blast genesis version)
  • Balloon Park
  • Casino Street (medley)
  • Twinkle Park (medley)
  • Boss theme (Sonic 2)
  • Casino Park + Bingo Highway
  • Robot Carnival
  • Spring Yard Zone
As for stage:

Stardust Speedway.

If we're going off of stages already repped in the game, I'd love to see Poké Floats come back, and I think Volcanic Rim from Street Fighter 4 and Grima's Back from Fire Emblem: Awakening would be great choices. Disregarding those, I'd have to show off entire .pdf documents just to get my point across, so I'm not gonna do that. Sorry.

I would love a Tetris stage. It could be incredibly unique and is probably the best way to represent Tetris in Smash. I imagine something like Mario Maker where it can show up in different visual styles. Have a classic Tetris version, a Tetris Effect version, etc.

But if we're talking about stages for characters in Smash, then I would love to see a Deepsea Metro stage from Splatoon 2. Mostly because Subway stages are rad.

Tetris, easily. It's pretty much begging to be a stage.

Bonus points if they make look like the NES Nintendo version. Ideally, I would've prefered a game boy style, but we already got Dreamland GB so...

Any Bowser-themed stage.
There's really not a single villain stage in smash, isn't it? The closest thing to a boss stage for an existing playable boss fighter in the game is Norfair and that's pretty vague.
I'm thinking that the last 3 DLC fighters will be 3rd party reps.

(I'll say it again: First Party aka Nintendo reps don't bring much hype and would be kind of disappointing.)
I really hope so.

Dunk on the funny blue puppet man but Geno is probably the closest chance we'd get to a Bowser's Castle stage (it would be either that, Forest Maze or Star Hill.)

Any Bowser-themed stage.
Is it not just a shame that the closest we have to a Bowser's Castle is in a gimmicky Paper Mario stage transition that's based on fricking STICKER STAR of all iterations. There are so many great Bowser's Castle interpretations and Smash chooses Sticker Fart.

I think recovery can go smoothly, We as a populace of the planet just have to band together to the best of our ability

But wait, actually if Technology advances that much, is it possible that could actually spell trouble, because if games become much easier to make, there be more games, perhaps competition to Smash, and if the AI is really that good, People might lose their jobs. Though at the least it could lead to legendary rosters

Hopefully I live that long to see that day

I guess we found your next prediction then. Meowser for Ultimate :4pacman:

Is that the stage where you fight him in FF7? I really don't know.
Sakurai straight up spoiled the ending of the game just to explain the stage. That's pretty much giving it away that yes, it's heavily linked to Sephiroth.

They also slapped a ship from TTYD on that stage too, just to rub salt in the wound.

I feel like Byleth makes everyone think that. I would wager that Waluigi would get people just as hype as most third party characters. In fact, Western audiences would probably be more hype about Waluigi than they were for Hero or Terry.

They can be hype.

Problem is that Nintendo tends to pick the ones that the general people hate, like "Overrepped Emblem" and "limb game that died years ago", as the Smash fanbase oh so "kindly" refers some franchises as.

People would pop off for a Gen 8 Pokemon, a Zelda rep that isn't a Triforce trio or Waluigi.

City Escape from Sonic.

Would be cool to fight on top of the G.U.N. Truck itself as it goes on a rampage.

Dead Bird Studio from A Hat In Time.
A film studio that already has a lot of verticality to work with? Putting Western decorations on one side and disco decorations on the other? Cameos from DJ Grooves and the Conductor (with the latter being really easy to get new voice lines for)? Yes please.

My most wanted before was Garreg Mach my Most Wanted now is The Galar Wild Area, Imagine how cool it would be to travel to the different areas and see a bunch of pokemon in the back, and maybe even a Dynamax battle as part of the stage.

Not really sure how someone could say first-parties aren't very exciting after the base roster. Simon, Richter, and Ken were literally the only third-parties who were added, but that didn't stop people from going wild for Ridley and K. Rool.

Like someone already pointed out, it's just that our most recent first-parties haven't been the best choices. Piranha Plant isn't for everyone, Byleth is from a franchise that people were complaining about even back in Smash 4, and ARMS is relatively small compared most of Nintendo's other IPs. There's still plenty of good options left; it's just that people are convinced that most of them won't happen. That, or they compare them to one of the larger third-party additions and act like no one would care.

I think saying that Captain toad is being "pushed more and more" and is a "Nintendo icon" is a big stretch. His only appearances in the last 5 years (not counting ports) are in Mario maker (as a skin), Mario odyssey and in Mario kart tour. That's not really a big push, especially for a franchise that have like 5 games each year. If he would start appearing in more spin-off like sports games or MArio rpg I would have agree, but that's really a small list.

I would love to see Courtroom No. 4 (the courtroom that gets blown up in Dual Destinies), but that's partially because I really want to see Phoenix Wright join.

A courtroom would be the obvious choice for Phoenix, but I think Courtroom No. 4 in particular would be super interesting visually and could incorporate the intact/blown-up versions when hazards are on.

As for stages that aren't tied to one of my most wanted characters, I really wish we had something that represents 3D Sonic. (Yeah, technically Lost World is modern, but Windy Hill Zone is so Green Hill-ish that it really doesn't feel that way.) Whether that's City Escape, Asteroid Coaster, Eggmanland, heck I'd even take Crisis City or Sand Oasis. I just want a stage from 3D Sonic that isn't Green Hill 2

Well I totally agree with the second part, I can't see someone like Cinderace getting a more excited reaction than Incineroar (who already got mid level reactions). Catch me sleeping if that happens. However about ARMS, I think hate is a bad word that was used but I think the sentiment stands that there's hype for ARMS because now 2 years later since its release, it obviously didn't drum up as much longlasting hype as a game franchise + the Assist Trophy petered down the hype a bit. I think however the ultimate thing that killed the ARMS hype was its reveal.

I just wanna say for the record that I think the ARMS reveal trailer was the WORST reveal Smash has ever done. No not Min Min's reveal trailer, I think that one is pretty good to be quite honest. The initial reveal that a character from ARMS would be joining was painful though. I don't think it even got people talking about ARMS as much as it was talking about the validity of spirits and so on. Also it just kinda ruined the surprise. Perhaps it was COVID or they just didn't want the Byleth backlash and it was planned all along to be like that.

Yeah so I have a strong grievance against how that reveal was done to be honest haha and this has no resentment to Min Min herself moreso how Nintendo chose to announce her eventual coming.

Treasure Tracker (a game that was ported to three different consoles) is one of the few games to get avatar icons for the Switch. Tropical Freeze, Luigi's Mansion, Xenoblade, etc. still don’t have icons. He’s also a part of Nintendo’s new theme park and is getting more attention in Bowser’s Fury. He’s gotten a fair bit of action considering he’s only existed since Galaxy.
