Looks like I'm not alone in this.

Now if spunit would let us try out his code...

Oh yeah, I agree about removing the Super Foot Stool Jump. From what I understand, nobody uses it in any form of Brawl and is a very clumsy mechanic in general like fast fall c-stick. However, I don't think it is worth removing if it alters normal Foot Stooling.

Yeah I agree. Though I am pretty positive it is its own entity, simply because of the stupidly huge height it gives you in comparison to a normal footstool which is like what? The same height as a full hop?

All I'm saying is, kupo should add it to the OP for future codes to do and then when someone has the free time, they can hack it up and I'll be all smiley face. :)

Actually, my friend and I when we first noticed this a long time ago were trying to implement it into our gameplay, but we ended up not doing so.

Btw, it's funny to watch Fox Super Footstool Marth's F-smash. At the same time, it's really ridiculous.

Diddy's use it. I've seen ninjalink use it a few times. It's pretty much pointless tho. I dont really care if it goes or not, if we can then sure y not get rid of it.

Whatever you do to it make sure it doesn't affect ZSS's footstool hop out of down-B. Although situational, it can be a nice recovery tactic.

While we're at it, lets make everyone star KO to help with Jiggs' rest and so people don't get screwed over the top when someone goes in front while the other dies off the back. 8D

Lol. Don't tell me you haven't had that happen before....

GPDP: yes, yes there is. Check the agenda code.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any recommended values yet.

Gamers Universe

Okay guys, so today was the first time ever that I met up with people outside my group of my friends for Smash. I went to some place called Gamers Universe (or something like that) in Massachusetts, for a fight night. People were playing Street Fighter 4, Brawl, and some other fighting games that escape me. So, being that this was my first time in this sort of setting, I came prepared. I brought my Wii, my wires, my controllers, Brawl--- everything I needed. This place was great, they had like 8 60inch plasma screens mounted on the walls, around the room, and then a few tables of smaller flat screens. So I introduced Brawl+ to everyone! I asked if they had heard of it,

one Brawler said "Isn't that some hack to make Brawl Melee?"

"No, not necessarily" I said "Brawl+ aims to take techs from both 64 and Melee and make the best, most competitive game possible."

"But can't you wavedash?"

"Well, no. There is such a code, but that's not part of Brawl+ --- the community decided against it."

So, I set up my Wii and had a go. At first, they didn't really understand it, they didn't get hitstun, they thought their controller was messed up (probably because they were stuck in hitstun). However, as they were playing, I was pointing out all of the changes, from lagless edges, to lag reduction. It didn't take long for them to love Brawl+. In time, many of them left their setup, with vBrawl, and sat around Brawl+!!

It's safe to say that the success of Brawl+ was definately tied to the fact that it still plays like Brawl. Sure there are some things to get use to, such as hitstun, but otherwise, it feels like an improved version of the game they already knew. The addition of wavedashing would definately have alienated them-- as some of them took more time to sway as it is. If HAD were to have been implemented, even if it was utterly perfect, it would still make some of these vBrawlers refuse the transition into Brawl+.

They loved the new found viability of their characters, namely the ones that were pretty terrible in vBrawl. One of the guys said "I don't know what it is... I can't put my finger on it... it's just more fun.." They now want to hack their Wiis, so that's awesome!

BTW, I used Brawlplusery beta3 (the current set). I also didn't bother with the momentum code, as it's not perfected yet.

-----------

As a side note, I played Falco, Sheik, and Captain Falcon. Since Brawl+, they have been my mains. Ice Climbers, they having been my mains for a while, took a back seat in Brawl+ as I was so excited about other characters, namely Captain Falcon. Pulling out the ICs again was no easy task. It definately showed me that I'm rusty, that I have a lot to work on. It also reminded me that the ICs have it really hard, that they don't need their CGs changed. I was able to CG, but often times I'd mess up at some point. Either way, it's so fun to play them, but it definately takes quite a bit of work to master them.

orca, what did i say? :p
haha! You're right! I'm just so excited it went over well! I'm going to my first tourney next week (well the 28th). It's at the same place, it's called MassMadness, or something. Either way, I don't think Brawl+ will be featured, as it's not mainstream yet, but I think there will be a group of Melee fanatics. Eitherway, I intend on bringing Brawl+ again. I'm not sure if I'll partake in the vBrawl tourney--- unless I master the ICs again in a week. I may just play a bunch of friendlies with people, showing every1 Brawl+. :)

At least I can admit when I'm wrong. I'm not all bad, right? :D

Thanks! Yeah man, go for it. It really does feel good to introduce people to a better game. I get a high level of satisfaction just letting other players try Brawl+, while I explain to them the many changes. Explaining the changes as they duke it out helps them to appreciate Brawl+ more. :) They loved ALR!

If I can't go to Cape's shindig, I'll meet you at Mass Madness and we will Brawl+ together. Where in Mass are you?

Holy God, really!? There are other people in Mass---from Smashboards? that ... omg this is so cool! I live in Wakefield Mass. Mass Madness is in Framingham (if I'm not mistaken).

Wait, Cape lives in Mass too? Or?

Where are you from, we'll definately have to play/meet up! This is my first time truly becoming involved with the community, and it's really exciting! OMG.

Wait. Cape's having a shindig and I'm not invited? lol.

EDIT: I'll definately have one of my good friends come too! He plays Brawl+ with me all the time, and we live / breath Smash. We really don't play anything else. He's good too, out of my friends, he's the only one who can beat me. We're pretty much equal-- especially because we know each others style so well. This will be his first time in said setting too.

0.1 Friction and 80% jump momentum is absolutely amazing. The one thing that was keeping Brawl+ from feeling ideal to me were the jump momentum and slidiness. Now the controls feel tight and responsive thanks to the friction, and Captain Falcon FINALLY feels like his old self. I'm not sure if the jump momentum code should be applied equally to each character (Sonic is funny) but the Brawlplusery has implemented character-specific physics changes to a large degree so that shouldn't be an issue.

Orca, everyone is invited. Its this weekend:

I replied to you in the thread you linked me 2. :D

Now I wish I lived in Lynn again.

*Born in Mass*
Wow man! That's only like what, 15-20mins from me? That's wild, so you live in Texas now? Wow!? You moved quite far away, why the move? Did you want to?

Well, hmm. I'm not the most... bright when it comes to that sort of ordeal. Wakefield is just north of Boston. Like 12mins or so from Boston. So, perhaps that's a better comparison. We can meet at my house if you want. I'm going to take the day off from work.

Do you have aim? My aim is Delkin525.

Added the code. No update in momentum :(

Oh and I was playing today and after a couple of hours, the screen was stuck on the blank screen after "GAME" and my controller kept rumbling. Someone mentioned this earlier I wanted to say I had it happen to me today. When I went to reboot the game, the first attempt wouldn't get past the loading codes. I took the sd card out, replugged the wii and it worked. Its very strange

Spunit seems to disappear at the most inopportune times, it seems. Oh well, he probably has other things to do at the moment. Still, I really wanna test his fixed code.

Nice brawl+ testimonial, Orca :) Glad to see it's taking off over there. I want to host something in Orlando as soon as a few things are tweaked and implemented into the plussery codesets (momentum+friction for the most part). Dark Sonic where you at? :p

Thanks man! Yeah, I can't wait for a few more things to be worked out-- as you mentioned momentum / friction. I'm also looking forward to beta4 of the plussery. :)

Man, I wish I was in Florida right now!

What did you change with this code? Was there a glitch with the other 23 line code?

I removed lines that may or may not be unneccessary in order to conserve line space.

ohh ok i'll try something then. The sliding is ghey.
So far I've been running with .7 to stop the sliding on characters like falcon and sonic, I've also tried all the way up to 1 but its way too robotic feeling and looking. Some of the animations/moves seemed to be designed around some sliding in mind.

BUT One thing to point out that it also gets rid of boost smashing if you're used to that, I don't really have a problem with the lack of the tech though, instead you just run forward a bit more.

probably also screws up dacus but not sure

Guys, I wouldn't go beyond .1 with the friction modifier. Even Luigi loses all semblance of slipperiness then.

I would add something much smaller, like .04 or something like that.

Or we could go character specific with it and make it only affect characters who it NEEDS to affects (ex: Falcon)
