I've talked to Tim and friends about it and I think Dan sent a message, but we actually have something just like that. Our best bet is to find a venue ourselves and hold a tourney(or multiple ones there.) at the very least charge 5-10 dollars for the venue fee(as opposed to $30-40 with situations very reminiscent of price gouging.)
Grass-roots tourneys, I like it. TC said something about holding tourneys at CU some time ago. I don't know what happened with that. ?I don't know about you but I think Colorado is pretty tired of C3's overpriced venue fees. (Although there could be some who have a different opinion) Our best bet is to find a venue ourselves and hold a tourney(or multiple ones there.) at the very least charge 5-10 dollars for the venue fee(as opposed to $30-40 with situations very reminiscent of price gouging.)
I might be able to 2-3 weeks from now. You see I will start training for a new job next monday and I am off saturdays. No guarantees that I can go. Also if I can go I might have a wii I can bring as well.I've talked to Tim and friends about it and I think Dan sent a message, but we actually have something just like that.
Dano is currently working at the soon-to-be defunct Psyche Deli - the manager said it'd be alright for us to host a small tournament there for free. It gives us a free venue and it brings in people to the restaurant. A win win! It's kinda small though - like three TVs max.
We could get a sandwhich and drink for $5, which is kinda good.

When would people be able to make another tournament? This weekend? 2-3 weeks from now?

fix'd (If anyone edits again, I rage)I'm pretty sure we're all madly in love with you, Mike. Jussayin'.
Anyway, yeah, I was talking with Dylan a few days ago, and told him about my plan. Here's what I thought would be a good idea:
- There has to be at least one source of fests for each 'region'. (Northern Colorado, Denver area, and Colorado Springs and down). Tim's place was the obvious idea for Denver-area, Dylan said he could volunteer to do stuff at his place in Longmont (if not him, then UNC would be our spot), and Colorado Springs has the McDonald's stuff.
- There needs to be a consistent schedule. Denver and NorCo smashfests would probably alternate every 2 weeks (so that would mean one event per month at Tim's, one per month at Dylan's, etc.), and Colorado Springs fests would probably stay the way they are now.
- Zournament would be our big tournament dealio. It'd probably be held around 4 times a year. Colorado Springs is actually a really good place to hold the big event because:
1. We have a well-known venue to kick back in, and it automatically comes bundled with a TO that knows how things need to be run.
2. It's easier for New Mexico and other states to drive in if they want to show up.
3. The projected venue is closer to COS than, say, Tim's house is to DIA. Makes it much easier for OoSers to fly in. If they decide they want to fly in through DIA, they'd just ride with us down to Colorado Springs.
- Other locals are totally cool, like Dano's sandwich shop tourney. If somebody wants to host a tourney on the week of one of the smashfests, the fest would just be cancelled. If Level Zero wants to host something, same deal.
What do you think?
