Zournaments won't really be too big for a while. Assuming the tournament is all Brawl, with maybe a Melee / Mario Party setup or two when the tourney is close to being done, we should have about 6-7 setups throughout the day, right? Maybe more if I bring in a power strip or two, and some other people bring TVs and Wiis. Having a 30-35 man 'regional' in that kind of environment should be fine, imo. If we ever break 40, then I guess UCCS would be a good spot. We'd have the numbers to cover venue, and significant reason to move to a public area.

Dylan: It's your job to put of fliers / tell people about the Smash community at CU. College kids are really into this sort of stuff, mhm. It'll be good advertising.

Meno & Lunchmeat: Same goes for you, except replace CU with UNC, duh.

Josiah / Dan: Put up a few fliers around Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Meno's the art man, so he could whip up some informative fliers really quickly. You two just gotta take 'em to Kinko's and paste them at various hubs around town.

Everybody else: If you have any friends that are casually interested in Smash, bring them to a smashfest or tournament with you. I plan on doing that with a couple of friends soon (aka whenever the next fest is).

Okay! I just have to keep Steam from being an ******* to them so they actually want to come back.

Remember Steam sometimes we may get scrubs and they generally like to complain about anything and everything and call things cheap(which is ironic for someone who "plays only for fun". You just have to be patient and not insist on hammering them in teams repeatedly with me as your teammate and gaying them with gay characters. I think we should learn from how Meno and others in the north scene treat new people...If we(I mean the springs) scare people away all the time because we always are hammering them then what good comes from it? The scene suffers...for all we know that ffa w/items noob that shows up might start taking the game competitively and become a great player for Colorado.

So bottom line: When that scrub who shows up is dissing you for playing a "gay character" and using "cheap" tactics. Win him over with impeccable kindness.

Y'all looking for a fun game to play? Of course you are!

http://www.carpefulgur.com/recettear/

Guy from another forum who sums it up nicely said:
There has been a movement to get this Japanese indie game translated into English and given an official release, complete with the full backing of the original developers. It's a game where the main focus is operating an item store for adventurers, selling standard and not-so-standard RPG equipment for the purpose of paying off a loan so your house/store doesn't get taken away by the repo fairy. You get items from suppliers or dungeons and sell them to customers in stores, haggling until they pony up or walk out. It's unique and surprisingly addictive.

There is a demo on the website right now that takes you up through the first week, and they recently worked out a deal with Stardock to sell their game over the Impluse platform early next month. They're working on other distributors like Steam, but for now, if you want to see other obscure yet fun Japanese games get localized, check it out and buy this game.
I just (barely scraped) through the demo, and I really enjoyed it. I'll probably be getting it once some available cash comes in (and the game is officially released on the 10th next month...right before NDK, ****ers.) Game is quite quite fun!

Play Recettear, it's a good game.

I can maybe look at putting flyers up at CSU, i'll have to talk with the SLiCE committee but I don't have my Wii up here so I can't really play people atm.

Also yes I was salty last night in Blazblue, tims room lagged like a mother****er and it pissed me off to no end.

Also, who's going to NDK? I'm pretty sure a few people from CSU are going and I may be housing a couple down at my place because it's so close to the venue, so there may be a chance for a smash/blazblue fest. Maybe.

I'll be there with some setups in my room. Still trying to get a room there though...

On a lighter note, won a TV first day of college, so I have one more setup I can bring for a total of 3.

But Beeeees! Now that Steam isn't gonna brawl anymore we still have to team up for a Cutthroat Tourney or something.

But...Steam isn't quitting Brawl...Also after being part of the highest placing Colorado team at Supercon, I have decided to make him my permanent steammate. We have good synergy. Also ROBxLucario teams **** quite well. sorry Lvl 1-1 :(

Also I am not going to cutthroat tourneys anymore. For a little more than the gas money, venue fee and cost to enter a C3 tourney, I could go to oos tourneys which as an added perk will benefit me more as a player as well.

Yeah because using 203974 different characters is gaying the carp out of them right? :I

No...but picking characters like Falco and DDD just so you can chaingrab them after they complain about it is. Also talking to them like they were dumb little kids was kind of insensitive. I was just saying we don't have to prove anything. So next time this happens lets get the scrubs excited about the game like at the end of last night rather than what transpired at the beginning of the night. Me and you teaming up in friendlies with scrubs just so we can beat the enthusiasm out of them is pretty mean and pointless. And yes Steam...you were being a little mean(and condescending) but hey everyone does something mean every now in then...To rectify this situation we should get them excited about the game.
Who knows? maybe they will shed their out-of-game arbitrary rules and start enjoying the game competitively.

I guess also the attitude is what really did it. No offense man but you came across sounding like a douche, I know you aren't one so next time maybe we just not team up and clobber them in like 5-8 consecutive matches. I mean you really think they have fun with that?

Well if you think that you are then try not to be...Before you came along the Springs was almost active enough to have its own scene separate from the rest of Colorado,(Mcspringsfest had easy 12-15 people every friday night!) but most people lost interest with the game or quit(not that you had anything to do with its undoing because that was before you) Maybe we can make an active scene again in the Springs.

fixed for you/
And yes you never know. Some people truly enjoy playing Brawl. You would be suprised, some people even enjoy it more than BB/streetfighter/ and B-. Some even enjoy it more than food. But that isn't healthy.

Some Most people just don't take B- seriously. They would prefer a game with more of a community and years of metagame that have been developed...not created.\
Not dissing B-. Its a good game. Just that I enjoy vBrawl more. (Also I am only slightly insane and don't really enjoy playing with items on.) So your sweeping statement is a fail.

I blame steam for every single person that quit smash.
He got me to quit. It was harder for me to quit smash then it was to quit smoking. Yet he was able to get me to quit.

people that enjoy brawl more than B- and food are either insane or play with items on.

I like vanilla Brawl a lot actually.

Also, you guys teamed up against nubs? Everyone knows you spread the talent evenly.

Don't post flyers on city/public property because you'll be ticked for each one:ohwell:.
What days are the tournaments going to be and what times, if you know.

Or don't have hacked wiis.

Wow, so I type up a decently long post talking about the steps we need to take to expand our Smash community, and it gets buried by a couple of dolts fussing over past events, which itself eventually just degrades to name calling and bickering. Great ****ing work, Colorado.

Jo, you really need to shut up for a while.
