So... I just started my first legit game on HeartGold...

I get my pokemon, and I go into the grass. A lvl. 3 Pidgey appears. Here's how the battle goes:

FLAMMIE uses Leer!
Enemy Pidgey uses Tackle! Critical hit!
FLAMMIE uses Tackle! It missed!
Enemy Pidgey used Tackle! Critical hit!
FLAMMIE fainted!

Sounds like me and Starr's pokemon battles

Bees sent out Umbreon(leftovers)
Starr sent out Magnezone(scarfjerk)
Magnezone used thunderbolt--Critical hit Umbreon is paralyzed and may not attack.
Umbreon is paralyzed and cant attack
Magnezone used thunderbolt--Critical Hit!
Umbreon fainted

Or my favorite when I missed 3 times in a row with Will-o-Wisp
80% accuracy my ***!

luckily for me my lucario's hold item is DI

Lucario's brawl aurasphere should never miss like in the pokemon games.
Yes and Extreme Speed should actually do damage
However...Lucario with a recovery move that damages his opponents would be GOD TIER!

Lucario is already god tier. what are you talking about? If lucario's recovery did damage gimping would be harder sometimes.

Lucario is hard enough to kill. The only reliable way ROB can kill Lucario is gimping. I need to do that more of that in that MU. >_>

I barely made it out of pools at SMYM 11, beat a Jiggs in a stupid campy brawl-like match (thanks Tony!), lost to a cfalcon, beat Seanson in Yoshi dittos (wtf?!), and then lost to my friend's GaW.

Just thought you guys should know.

But seriously thanks for the Jiggs experience, the timer was actually in danger of running out. I won with like 30 seconds left and 40% more damage. There were no combos, only occasional hits.

Now this is my kind of game.

Yo, this is DancingFighterG. Hey guys, with the coming of new players for this part of the season I decided to give people more time to come up with teammates so that whatever team qualifiers for SuperCon on our side is ready to go. With that in mind I'm going to move the team qualifier that was scheduled for Cutthroat Ranbat 5 to King of the Springs and just to singles at Cutthroat Ranbat 5. We will still have teams at Cutthroat Ranbat 5 but it won't be qualifier. Just FYI..

I am probably not going to be able to make it to Ranbat 5 in April. Its on the same day as my friend's going away Birthday party.

However I will find out today if I work this weekend. I should still be good for Splat-fest.

Some guy named Jayce. I dunno what his board name is.

I played Jman and Kels in friendlies before the tournament. Both ended up in the top 3 so I got lucky at which TV I sat down at. I am getting better at the Fox matchup, but its still stupid.

Also (Pika)Chad beat Darkrain. He is now (Fox)Chad though lol. I play this guy at basically every TN tournament, so hopefully I'll get better at the matchup.

Ok mike/moblin, I sent it to ye. Tell me what you think, what needs work, etc.

I guess I'll do my super late real talk gaming life post now that I have returned from winning at weddinging.

So, when I was growing up we had gameboys. The awesome old gray bricks of justice. I think we got them when I was...4? But anyway, that's what we had, one for each kid in the family. Mostly played skate or die and mario land, but I was terrible at games so I made my brothers beat them so I could see the endings. We also had tetris, but mom just beat us all easily in that forever and ever.

Things went that way, until I started playing super nintendo at a friend's house. We mostly played the versus in mario bros, rock and roll racing, and mario kart. Then DKC came out and I started begging for a snes. That christmas I ended up getting one and being super happy. More and more I played games, getting into rpgs. We had some fighting games but we just mashed buttons in them.

In middle school I got made friends who were into games for the first time, and we started hanging out playing them together. Pokemon, mario kart 64, and smash bros. We played the hell out of smash 64. And then everquest came out.

I'm pretty sure I played EQ more than I've played any other game, for 5 years we played that ****. And I sucked at it pretty hardcore. I died so much, it was terrible. Between that and melee, high school was set for games.

Then I went to college and met tons of gamers at Digipen. Played new ones I hadn't heard of, and started doing well in games. It was also where I played d&d for the first times, which is super fun. It was there that I learned of "no items" smash, as well as the advanced techs. I was super scrubby and dismissed all these things. But when I started working at nintendo, I got more chances to play itemless with the other guys working there, and came to really enjoy it.

And now I'm here!

Tiiiiimmmmmm speaking of DnD, we are taking a break on that campaign because we fought a mummy lord and i got one shot by finger of death due to missing my d20 roll by 1.........

but apparently even though we all died the campaign will still continue with those characters after a break

right now we're doing a campaign with Jason that we JUST started our characters and we haven't done anything besides that...so if you're up for it still you can make a new character (this time it's a bit different on how it's decided)

Jason has you roleplay as a toddler 8-14 and he basically has you roleplay decisions and bases those decisions on some comp program that decides when that rp part ends; what class you can choose from.

so you don't really need like a 1page bio on this character or anything-just make decisions based on what alignment/class you want to be and it also helps develop a deeper involvement in the character development.
So far i'm playing a Aasimar Paladin, Alex has a Drow Warlock(L/e this should be interesting) , Paul's a Half-vampire Cleric ( LAWFUL GOOD LAWLALWLAWLAWL) and Kevin is a Rocksomething race that has things and is a c/e Barbarian...lol so ya this is gonna be fun to roleplay so you should get in on this ((pssstt we need a rogue/ranger *smiley face*)) oh and if you don't want to make a race with a level adjustment you don't have to, we all just thought it would be fun.

Hmmm, alright, when is the next meet? I'll look into it and such.

Also, did you get a chance to go see the place, or do you want to do that this week?

I've been putting this intro to gaming thing off for a while because it would take way too long so I'm going to do with just some memorable stuff.

Power rangers fighting game. My friend would choose the Megazord all the time and won against me. Got a SNES I think when I was like 6. First game for it was some star wars game. I remember you pilot a ship on top of the death star and I would remember the level code cause it was the most fun. Later on, I remember playing Dragonball GT. I was always playing it at my cousin's house cause it was a tight fighter.

The only other thing I could really remember now from my childhood regarding games was that I was playing Super Mario World and I couldn't beat it. I wanted to beat the **** game so bad that I remember staying up until like 2-3 a.m. when I was like 5 years old and I clearly remember I didn't know there was a savestate. So I wanted to stay up and beat the whole game in one day until my dad tells me to go to sleep. I of course didn't want to so he did what he could do, trip over the power cord and kills the game. I don't remember if I was angry or not all I know was he tripped over the cord on purpose I'm sure of it so I'd go to sleep. I don't think to this day I've beaten that game although I have it on Virtual Console. I think I got farther into the game when I was 5 than however far I am now at SMW.

Then when I was like 9 I moved to America. I got a gamecube when I was like 10 I think and THE FIRST GAME I GOT WAS SSBM. Now this part here is pretty tight, I bought the game because I thought the box art looked amazing, yea check this ****:

Anyways I mean I just beat on computers and thought I was the best. When I was 11 I remember getting a PS1 and Digimon World 1. One of the best games ever created IMO, I clearly remember me skipping school one day cause I wanted to beat Analogman and I couldn't save in the middle of battle, or pause and cause my PS1 to overheat or something(I'm EXTREMELY careful about the condition of my games and consoles, so much that I refuse to let anyone borrow my **** cause I know they won't treat it as well as I do). So I skipped like a day to beat him.

Then GBAs became all the rage and I got Pokemon Gold. Played the hell out of it, my only legit lv.100 too, which was my Feraligatr. Had a ton of games but nothing else really pops up. So basically at this point I was just playing w/e, had a GCN, GBA, and PS1 games. Nothing really pops up. I think I was starting to get introduced to computer games more too cause I clearly remember Oregon Trail used to be the best thing ever.

When I was 14 I think, a nationwide gamestop SSBM tournament happened. I got news of it cause I found GameFAQS which I thought was pretty much the best site ever and I visit its boards everyday like I do Smashboards. I won that first tourney and I got introduced into Smashboards. Then I found the CO thread and you can see all the way back to page 1 or 2 when I think I started posting and trying to play better people. And I did. My parents didn't like the fact that I had to be taken so far just to play a game but hey, I love it. I love the community, I love the game, I love the atmosphere, I love all of it. And things was going great, not just in my videogame life(I attended TONS of tourneys and gatherings), but just in general. I met a lot of cool people, we hang out by playing the game and got pretty close. So all was good until sophomore year.

When I was a sophomore in high school I kinda hit a roadblock due to IB(you guys know this program) and I basically attempted suicide by ODing on sleeping pills. And you know why I ended up not dying? I talked to my online smash friends I met through GFAQS on AIM. I was much closer to my online friends than I was to my RL friends! I just talked to them and they eventually got me to call the cops. I remember getting into the ambulance, kinda scary actually, I was really disoriented for some reason. Next day I woke up in a hospital bed and I remember the first thing I did, was ask for a phone, and called Victor a.k.a. meleemarth that I was going to miss the huge tournament he was hosting cause I tried to kill myself.

Here is the montage video for the tourney I missed btw, the audio REALLY makes the montage and having YT take it down sucks MAJORLY. I'll see if I can get the video from runningbrave though:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3N0M5qDsCs

During this ordeal, I pretty much started to really understand how awesome my parents was. And I got to meet a psychotherapist like twice a week. Which was ridiculously awesome believe it or not. He's like a guy you can just talk to, about whatever. He had this aura about him that just made him feel approachable, friendly, easy to talk to. So I strive to be more like him, be able to give off that aura.

Now back to the topic at hand, like 5 months after, I went to OC3. I was kinda surprised my parents let me go after what I just went through but I think they knew this was what made me happy. Plus school just ended and it's summer break. I love the ****ing game, I just can't express it enough, I love smash. So I ended up traveling to California with 7 other people without parental guidance when I was like 15 which I think was a feat among itself. Although Erg basically went out of state for 3 god**** days when he was 13.

Then life went on, I got a DS, played more stuff on my consoles. And then came senior year. I was just so bored by all the classes except for philosophy, weight lifting, and programming. I ended up dropping out of high school 2 weeks before graduation since my attendance was so horrible due to playing DotA way into the morning. Basically everyone I played with(Yang, Mikezor, and friends on vent) was over 18 so they're in college and have easier time management. But I had to wake up at like 7 in the morning everyday so I ended up always going to the school parking lot, set up a bed in the back of my car, and sleep through the school day.

And that's pretty much it, got my GED right after I dropped out and looked for jobs and ****, then got to this point where I'm going to college and playing every game ever. And it looks like I got a job! And now I'm on the road towards doing what I want to do, program and make videogames. I already started my C# classes and it's awesome, the feeling you get when your program suddenly works is like no other. Videogames for life, bros before hoes, all that jazz.

Well this became more of a life story rather than my intro and transition to videogames. But I think it's cool to know. Smash and videogames are a huge driving force in my life, I don't know what I'd do without it and you guys...

Freaking wall of text, I didn't want to type a lot either, I wanted to type something small at first but then it just blew up :ohwell:

Ferdi edit:

Tim send me that story, if too big on a PM shoot me an email at fransiscusferdinand@yahoo.com

I'm pretty sure I played EQ more than I've played any other game, for 5 years we played that ****. And I sucked at it pretty hardcore. I died so much, it was terrible. Between that and melee, high school was set for games.

But when I started working at nintendo, I got more chances to play itemless with the other guys working there, and came to really enjoy it.

And now I'm here!
Hoo hoo hoo, Skate or Die. I played half of that game. Mostly the 'die' part :(. But how are you terrible at EQ?! D: So many years!

I understand ya when a game takes over your known life. Albeit it was only for a year for me (I miss you PSU </3,) I easily sank over 1.5+k hours into that game. I was one of the first to sign up for the game, one of the first to cap my level consistantly (the level cap kept moving up with updates.) Even now, I think I last played at the level 120 cap. Only 30 away from the current max. Still, **** is addicting. Yay for my college freedom at the time, unlike high school.

Rock and Roll Racing for top tier. The only game you can race and pick up sheer gold bars! (I used to call them cheddars.)

Freaking wall of text, I didn't want to type a lot either, I wanted to type something small at first but then it just blew up :ohwell:
So what? The wall of text was read, and it was a deep story I never knew about ya, Ferdi. It's wild that you can have almost a second family, straight up earned through games. But I'm glad you did. You hella cool, have tons of potential (besides fighters ;P) for everything. One of the most hype generating people. And you don't even gotta do anything besides play half the time.

I actually did not know you were American-born, either. Maybe I shoulda guessed with your RIDICULOUS full name, but that's cool. And I'll quote Tim from earlier today, "Ivan Ooze!!!"

I remember when we could pick a game's quality sheerly by the box art. Now, we can't trust anything. :( Either way, don't doubt yourself for posting a big wall'o'text. Especially when it was asked for. I wanna read this shiznoe!

too lazy to erase stuff in posts to shorten them, so deal with it.
Ya, WGT is world gaming tour GOGO tony!
Well, a lot of my lack of motivation for competitive gaming comes with wanting other life experiences at the time plus drugs alch (and WoW a while ago) =*(. but i'm pretty good and not abusing that stuff so ya.
I really really really hope that SC2 brings back my motivation for gaming cus, I know if i played and practiced that game like I did SC that I would go even farther than I had when i was younger.
And DnD is ummmm....different... DnD takes almost as much dedication as playing a game really competitively-if you want the best results out of it that is. And even more dedication if you go on a competitive level because you have to know BOOKS of knowledge off the top of your head to be very efficient and accurate.
Also I do think i started played red alert 2 and warcraft 1/2 before SC-which helped picking up SC much easier.
