Juan (Hbox) pointed out something very interesting about yesterday's results (gsg2).

1. Jman
2. Lucky
3. Zhu
4. Hbox
5. Mango / Fly Amanita
7. s2j / Falcomist
9. SS / HugS / MacD / ???

1. Jesus
2. Joey
3. Julian
4. Juan
5. Joseph / Jeremy
7. Johnny / Justin
9. Jeff / Hugo / Mccain / ???

HOLY ****BALLS.

Do J people have an unnatural tendency to be good at smash or are J names just very common...? dun dun dun

I think I might compile a list of names for bracket results at gsg2, and if anyone else is curious, they can do the same for some other (preferably big) tournament. I might not be the right person to do this though, I'm really bad with names in the first place, and probably don't know many of people outside the regulars...

but yeah, let's do this?!

Heh, names that start with 'J' are common Zhu :D In my highschool is was a running joke that all of my friend's names started with a 'J' (John, Jonathan, Justin, Jeff, Joseph, etc.) And if you through some hispanics into the mix than it's too easy XD (I'm not racist I promise :p)

I'd go to the census bureau's website and find their list of most common names by percentage and add all the 'J's up and I bet it will be a significant percentage of the population :)

incidentally all of my friends were also born in July. heh, weird..

oh, so to answer your question I guess I'm going with probability :) though I think it's both..

Ah yeah, Axe is ridiculous, m2k is m2k. We also got Javi / Juan (chops), I feel like there were a bunch of others but I'm really tired still so I'll think about it later.

lol I remember someone pointing this out a while ago, but I never knew it was an epidemic of these proportions.
J people should be banned or have their name changed.

after brief estimations from US census bureau I got that at least 15% of the male population's name starts with a 'J'. I added the percentages up for about 30 of the more common 'J' names.

It's not a big enough percentage, I'm thinking it was both probability and mostly coincidence.

If there's no such thing as coincidences why have a word to explain it? It seems to defeat the purpose of having a word if all it does is explain its own non-existance lol
This is all obviously some sort of vast smash conspiracy.

Hbox isn't taking the credit for this one, this was noticed in the "common knowledge people don't know" thread months ago. Just sayin.

Your input on this discussion disgusts me.

I mean many of us noticed this years ago, it's just there haven't really been any results with top 9 all with J names. I remember talking about first letter crew battles and how stacked J would be. Second place probably goes to A cause of Armada / Amsah / Adam / etc, but other than J, there's no clear winner.
