Ankoku, do you use excel for this? And what is the 160 for in your division of base stats?

Also I don't think this data is completely viable because you don't take in account how many of each character, mained, was at the tournament. ie - 16 person tournament, top 8 was 8 different characters, but the bottom 8 were all the same character as #1 was.

...but I do realize it would take an incredible amount of time to figure out who mained who at what tournament. And apply accordingly.


I'm pretty good at statistics and stuff, so I'm just telling you my observations.

The more a character is played, the better chance it has in making the Top 8.

not really, if a tourney has more than 16 people in it, most likely character selection wont have a bearing on who gets top 8.

at some point player skill has to become a factor,

as ive learned from the SBR, its pointless to put all your stock into what this list says.

if M2K was the only metaknight player at a 50 man tournament, what do you think metaknights chances of getting top 8 would be?

Metaknight's chances would be slim. I see what you mean.

But, what if at a 50 man tournament #1 was MK (the rest of the top 8 different characters) and the people who tied for 9th were ALL MK as well.

I really just wanted to know the reasoning behind the point system and stuff. Imo, I think the points should change, depending on the size of a tournament.

Besides, that tier list isn't even a good noob tier list.

Ike should be top tier
Yoshi's about 15 spots too high
No comments about how Wolf's blaster, foward smash and down smash are broken and his tier should reflect that.
Captain Falcon should be... oh no he didn't... he did not just misspell Captain Falcon's name... he's so going to get it.

At least he left sonic out of that tier list. Can't give him any fault for that.

In a statistical point of view,yes this is true and for any low # tournies(less than 30) top 8 should only matter, however when we reach 75-100to up to 300, people that place close to top 8, llike 9tth and 13th via a double elimination bracket should be noted but in less regard than top 8.

Example: ZEDD was practically unknown, went to 2 tournies before which show mediocre/bad placement, in the norcal tournament scene when CGC @ SFSU V happened, which was last week. ZEDD then gets 13th, which was the highest an unranked player got at the reigional, and by no means was it luck he got 13th, he played challenging opponents and simply was being smart about how to play as his character.

O and has anyone posted the results for CGC V yet? they are if no one knew:
