I'm probably out of line for going ahead with starting this thread, but here it goes.

CAOTIC, Mic_128, myself and a few others (Shaya?) have put our heads together over an idea for an 'Australian Smash E-Newsletter'.

What is this exactly?

Well, it is as it sounds. A monthly/quarterly e-publication that we would regularly send out to a list of email addresses that could be added to this thread's opening post in a list.

This e-newsletter could contain.

• Information about upcoming Australian tournaments
• Roundups on tournaments that have transpired recently
• Information pertaining to the happenings of and about each state of Australia, smash-wise
• Interviews with influential players and members of the community
• Articles relating to important issues of and about the Smash games
• World News - News pertaining to tournaments outside of our country
• Random Character spotlight - And input from players that use said character
• Random Player Spotlight - A random person on the emailing list could be chosen for a random interview

There are still things that need to be figured out.

The frequency of publication (Monthly, Bi-monthly, quarterly?).
Personally I'm leaning towards bi-monthly. Six publications a year, although I wouldn't object to monthly either.

Who will contribute articles?
I'd like to think I could contribute articles. Mic_128 from Perth and CAOTIC from Melbourne?
What of NSW, and other states?

We'd also need a graphic designer, somebody to do the layout of the newsletter.
I mean I *could* do it in Photoshop, but maybe there's somebody out there who might like to design it?

What we need right now is for people to give their opinions and ideas.
AND to post their email addresses, so that we can start making a list that we'll eventually use as the mailing list.

The idea driving this is that there are many smashers out there that do not check Smashboards regularly. This is the solution that will keep players up to date with the happenings in Australian Smash.

Also, we need a name.

How about something like:
'Australian Smash Journal'
'The Smash Times'
'Smash: Australia'

This sounds like a pretty cool idea. i'd be willing to provide an article or two if hats okay.
I think we could get a fair few people working on this, and a system like a roster to determine who has things to contribute from each state.

im down for this, monthly works better for melbourne, only because our tournaments happen once a month and i dont always know what the dates for it will be 2 months in advance.

otherwise im happy to squash 2 tournaments into 1 publication <3, bi-monthly also means less work

Okay, I did a little update. I'll wait for Cao's UBER list to be updated before I go ahead with adding Melbourne.

Just a note:
I'm creating the list in such a way that anybody will be able to simply copy and paste the list for a mass mail out for any event or important update.

State listings is a good idea, or if the scene is large like Melbourne you can then divide that state into more specific locations.

this will be great for me and otheres who dont get much time to check and post on the forums but like to be informed about whats happening in the community. I was very dissapointed that i didnt find out about animania until it was too late. An e-newsletter would solve this problem.

If this is going to be monthly can i suggest that if you know of any events in time that you add it too the newsletter two months before the event. this way people will have anought ime to plan their time especcailly if the event is closely after the release of the current months newsletter.
Also, is there going to be a section dedicated to the GotGames progress as well?

Once we've got a good team of writers, we can start assigning whom to what articles (If you have a preference, then let that be known too).

Of course, Everyone who signs on as a writer is probably going to want to write about their state for starters. So how about we go from there.
