Is it known that if you full hop fair, you always get silent laser if you buffer it on the way down?

Only reason I ask is because I've never seen another falco use it and i like using it
It's known and Falcos don't use it because the Fair leaves you vulnerable because of it's long duration + low priority, and it's much easier/better/safer to just learn the timing for the SHSL.

I'm having troubles against dedede...........

It's getting to the point where my Snake is doing better than my Falco against him.

Seems like you weren't playing a very great Falco. I have trouble sometimes with Fox, but that's because I have no information about this matchup at all. It is a bit tricky to try to spike Fox out of the CG, anyone know of any other alternatives?
Run off RAR Fair stage spike :)

What's the matter?

Laser laser cg when possible watch out for bairs jab like hell iap like mad gg.

You being too aggressive?
yeah I'm told to camp more. I get grabbed a ton, got techchased pretty badly too. And he can predict me ledge-dropping and stage spiking me. Sometimes my phantasms gets punished by bair, grab, or u-tilt.

Honestly, it sounds like you need to advance as a player, and not just with a character. You can have the most technical skill ever, but if you haven't developed your ability to bait, trap, evade, and mindgame, as well as read your opponent quickly and react efficiently, then you probably won't get as far as you'd like. Most of this comes with experience, and you should notice over time that your thought process will be swifter and more precise. You'll be more confident.

I suggest to stop playing him for a couple of weeks and play everyone else you can, but DON'T PRACTICE ANYTHING (new to you I mean). Play everyone seriously, but instead of being aggressive, try to notice patterns in someones play style, then patterns in that characters playstyle, and finally patterns in people in general. This is how you develop your actual skill level; playing consciencely as opposed to going through the motions.

After you feel like you've built yourself up to the point where you're confident enough in your ability to read and diversify yourself, go back to your friend and see how you do, you should see a major difference. Good Luck :)

What! That doesn't help at all.

If the falco screws up somehow (I know Falco's chaingrab is amazingly easy to do) what would be the best way to DI out of it?
Falco's chaingrab is not amazingly easy to do on all characters, cough buffering.

The best way is away and airdodge iirc.

IAP= Instant Aerial Phantasm, that's when you jump and immediately use phantasm, it replaces the ending lag of grounded phantasm with landing lag.

so I gave you advice, via extensive post, and you reply to his >.>
Sorry, thank you very much for your advices. I actually played against him again today and did much better than last time, the only consistant problem i have is killing him, dedede lives for far too long.

Don't worry so much about killing. In this sort of matchup, it's your percent you should focus on, not his. Trying to force the kill is a bad idea and can get you hurt/killed.

On another note, I'm pretty sure a roll away after D3's Dthrow makes it near impossible to follow up with anything.

That reminds me, I recall that by DIing up and a direction i can sometimes airdodge b4 i hit the ground so i wont be techchased, is this damage depended and/or viable?

Hey guys. Nefarious B posted a link to this video over at the ZSS boards:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b5ND7CfmBc

When I saw this, I immediately remembered another situation in which I saw something similar about a year ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FLq2Kl4jH0

Start at about 1:35. When Claw throws the suit piece, the reflector comes out but Falco is knocked back and takes electrical damage as though he'd been hit by the reflector. Back then, I was pretty sure Claw threw the suit piece under the reflector, bypassing it and killing him (good aim, or some such nonsense).

Now I think there might be a certain frame period in which the reflector fails and backfires against strong hits, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't chasing a unicorn before I started investigating. Even if I found something though I don't think this could be used by a human being (like the SDI shielding bug/AT/whatever, too fast for humans).

EDIT:

Jupz said:
All that happened is that Falcos hurtbox extended when he kicks out the reflector but the reflectors hitbox wasn't out yet.
Guess that solves the mystery.

I have yet another question. When you go for the pivot grab how the hell do you slide so far and so fast? I tried to do it but failed as it came out to slow. Can you guys please explain how you do it and in case you don't know what I'm talking about watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRyxwDndHBU&feature=channel_page

Skip to around 4:02 - 4:04 and you'll notice that the Blue Falco slides really far and pivots grab the Meta Knight immediately after a Dthrow. Can you guys please explain to me how's this and how to do it? Thanks. :)

How do I be less predictable with Falco...its the sole reason I'm losing to a certain player, he predicts me too much, he even said it.

There's no way to be less predictable with Falco, you need to be less predictable as player.

Growing as player is something that comes with experience, you should try to notice where he predicts you and counter his countermeasures, if you succeed you should watch for his habits and punish those as soon as you notice them (i.e. after he missed a dolphin slash he always spotdodges or something)

I tell you that everything in Brawl is punishable, and you shouldn't question it at all.
you must open your eyes :o
The thing is I always come close to beating him. In theory if I can get to a point where he can't predict me, I should *in theory* own him.

Basically keep camping and wait foryour opponent to mess up. When they do that (depending on the situation), you can:

  • DACUS in for a kill
  • Usmash OoS
  • Use any number of opportunities to land a Bair (It should be fresh from the lazorz)
  • FSMASH Kill off the ledge/predict a landing
  • Utilt (@ high enough %s)
  • Dsmash
Uair is also a great move underestimated by many.
