I really don't understand why Yoshi games tend to be so easy - yes, Yoshi is cute; cuddly; and marketable, but he also has a really complex set of skills designed for puzzles and precision, easily the most elaborate skillset of any of the 4 Mario 2D platformer protags.
I wish I mad musical talent so I could arrange a beautful, Jurassic Park-esque orchestral cover of the Yoshi Clan.
If a character's gender is left up to interpretation, I generally see them as male if they have feminine qualities and female if they have masculine qualities.

It is REALLY hard to come up with a plot for a mascot platformer without a ton of "and then"s. I cannot think of a single good in-universe reason for my protagonist to scale and run around on an active rollercoaster or sprint around an exploding train.

As we all know, the connections between Ripper Roo, Jesus, CatDog, the Ant Bully, Jeff Andonuts, Eric Cartman, and clip art sunglasses penguin are very tight.
There's no mole or vacuum cleaner emoji but there are aeroplane seat and photorealistic lungs emojis - the weirdest part is that the official Emoji website has mole and vacuum cleaner emojis listed, but those aren't actually emojis and never have been.

As someone who loves Wario Land, I bring forth a desperate plea:
Please do not turn Wario Land into the next "bring back this series NOW" meme. Nobody will want to play Wario Land if you act like that, and Nintendo may end up making a half-BUTTed game solely out of obligation.
So, which repugnant, weird, irrelevant mascot will be necromemed to life by a small, mostly ironic fandom next after Johnny Turbo, Bubsy, Johnny Test, Freddie Freaker, and the Noid? I'd say Gex but I imagine Square Enix would want to distance themselves from platformers after the Balan disaster. Coconut Fred or the Nutshack wouldn't be surprising.
The Noid's live action redesign is pretty good, I just wish they went for dot pupils instead of the faux Pixar look that's all the rage nowadays. I'd also prefer the N to be on his chest instead of crotch, but that's not too big a deal.

If we're to get more indie reps in Smash, they should be obscure or lesser known - the whole point of the indie scene is to bring attention to the little guys, so why go for the skeleton who's appeared on WWE or the knight who's met Kratos when you can get a scrappy underdog?
