  • Can you imagine a world where Nintendo and Sony went through with the Play Station collaboration, and as such characters we associate with Sony in this world have been in Smash since the first instalment? Would their series be deep in character additions, leaving people asking for Papu Papu or Moneybags?

Parappa vs. Jigglypuff vs. Rhythm Girl vs. Rabbot from Jumping Flash! :)

Wait, was there a rhythm spin-off to Jumping Flash? I know that game did get spin-offs, but I didn't know it had any connections to the rhythm genre.

No not really, I was just thinking about a random character who I'd like to see fighting the other characters. You can easily replace Rabbot with Hiro from Bust a Groove if you're going with the rhythm game/music theming. ;)
I think the weirdest name Nintendo has ever given a game is "Yoshi's Universal Gravitation". It's a standard name for a Japanese release, but they kept that name for the European release for some reason.

This game in general is kinda weird as, apart from a few rather cool one-off characters, it's so forgettable and bland that you can remember it for that alone.

I misread "Gravitation" as "Graduation" and thought there must have been some weird ass Japan-only simulation game where Yoshi goes off to college and you help him get his degree.

The actual game sounds even more disappointing after the fact.
OK, hear me out on this, I know it sounds like a meme but I promise you'll be on board by the end: Game and Watch Battle Royale.

The game contains all 60 Game and Watches, as well as the Nintendo-related instalments in Nelsonic's Game Watch line and a new, more culturally respectful role-reversed version of Fire Attack. You can play them as intended, trying to top your own score, or go online to play against 99 other players at the same time trying to rack up the highest score in a random selection of 5 score-based G&W games, like a mix of Tetris 99 and Fall Guys
I would pay £30, maybe even more, for a complete Game and Watch collection on Switch (with all licensed games (Mickey Mouse, Popeye, e.t.c.) and all reskins (Egg, Mario the Juggler, e.t.c.)), especially if it included the SNES-era Nelsonic Game Watches as well.
Imagine you're a literal goddess, respected across the land - you get invited to a prestigious fighting tournament, where you are allowed to use your powerful abilities to their fullest extent.

Then you get yeeted into submission by a pre-pubescent spider monkey in a gamer hat.
the only feasible ways to bring back the National Dex would be either a VERY long development time, or (to a lesser extent) sprites, preferably both.

I mean, not like SwSd is going to be balanced at all for competitive play after Crown Tundra to be honest. Balance is the least of their concerns despite how much they say it is. If they cared about balance, we wouldn't be getting Mons like the Tapus and Lando-T back.

"very long development time" Then do it. Let the fanbase play spinoff games if they desire a new Pokemon game every year.

The spin offs are actually quite good
Mario Kart 9 should follow the CTR:NF model - frequent free updates backed by optional, non-intrusive MTX. Also, CTR brought back a lot of obscure characters (Yaya Panda, Rilla Roo, e.t.c.) and MK could really benefit from something similar, given how well it worked for them already with Birdo and Daisy in Tennis 64.
One of my most wanted 3rd parties for Smash is PaRappa the Rapper - but a problem with him in the realm of Smash is that he's a character who openly opposes violence, as opposed to say, Isabelle, who is just a character who doesn't engage in violence. I think a good solution to make him seem more in-character would be to make him the only character who acknowledges Smash as a sport (outside of victory screen claps at least) - his eyes would never go angry, his taunts wouldn't be taunting as much as him expressing admiration at his opponent's skills, and on his victory screen he'd gives his foes words of encouragement (while still doing a victory dance of course).
    Crash 4 redesigns IMO:

    Improvement:
Coco (this one comes rather close, she's cuter in N. Sane, but About Time is a lot more expressive)
Dingodile (absolutely the biggest upgrade, body positivity icon.)
    N. Tropy (it's just the N. Sane design but more expressive)

    Downgrade:
Crash (don't like the fur, or lack thereof)
    Cortex (eww, round head...)
    N. Gin (the biggest downgrade of them all, I usually prefer more expressive designs, but having a ride range of expressions just doesn't fit Gin.)
If something came out in 1999, it's less from the 90s and more from... the 90, singular.

I was born in 1999. Does that technically make me a 90s kid or no?

    90 kid. You're not a 90s kid, you're a 90 kid.

@GamerZardEX Yep, you're a 90s kid. I was born in 1996, but I'm still a 90s kid because I was born in the 90s and I grew up around 90s culture in the early 2000s. The N64 and the Gamecube were my favorite gaming consoles growing up in my early childhood and I loved watching cartoons like Teen Titans, Spongbob, Fairly Odd Parents, Courage the Cowardly Dog, KND, Billy & Mandy, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!, Jackie Chan Adventures, My Life As a Teenage Robot, Jimmy Neutron, ect on Cartoon Network/Toonami, Nickelodeon, Jetix, and the WB.
SmashWiki lists Roy as a semi-clone and Doc as a full clone.

    SmashWiki is run by idiots.

I say this as a long-time SmashWiki contributor.
OK, let's settle this once and for all: which super-powered animal team 80s cartoon had the best theme song? I can't decide between Avenger Penguins and Street Sharks

A penguins story is a beautiful anime and I expect it to be treated as such

I'm not talking about the beer war penguin anime, Avenger Penguins was a kids' show about biker penguins - which also has a brilliant theme song.
Rise of the TMNT was a victim caught in the crossfire of unnecessary Thundercats Roar and TTG hate, change my mind.

Seriously though, comedy reboots are not the enemy, this is:

The Crash 4 redesigns are growing on me, but I still prefer the N. Sane Trilogy designs. Anything's better than tattoo'd Crash and square Coco though.
I love this ad because it begins off genuinely serious and harrowing, then it's like "nah, it wasn't her mother or anything, it was just Crash Bandicoot. Don't pirate our games" - but like, the ad's score makes it seem like it's a big twist, and it's worse that Lara Croft died than what you were expecting.
If Alex Kidd DX could start off as a fangame and get licensed as an official, paid product, then surely they could do the same for Sonic Studio. That game's quality and understanding of the source material matches even Mania.
The ads for Struggling on NintendoLife are genuinely making me a little queasy - I have a high gross out tolerance and I'd have no problem with it on the side of an article, but maybe that's not the best game to give a giant banner ad...
I never got the significance to Waluigi being made to be a tennis partner. Most Mario characters were created for really insignificant reasons - Luigi was a palette swap they just so happened to give a name as opposed to "Mario (II)"; Yoshi was pretty much just a power-up, and Diddy was even less significant: a life bar.
If Nintendo need a tennis partner for Pauline, Stanley would be the best candidate. Cranky could work too, but that'd raise a lot of questions that benefit nobody to answer - except Kotaku since they'd get a lot of clicks.

I feel like Cappy could also make a good doubles partner, seeing as how they both have a big role in Odyssey

I'd continue the arcade theme for a Pauline partner, but Cappy and Tiara could make a good duo. Conveniently the Broodals are even-numbered so there's no problem with giving them doubles partners - though that does leave Nabbit in the dust.

If they make them doubles partners and show them together in cutscenes, everyone would just assume they’re in love.
Therefore, there would be a “Did Pauline dump Mario for Stanley?” theory
So we get a cringey Kotaku article either way
