  • Pokemon doesn’t really NEED a Light Type, and let’s be honest the only real argument people make in favor of there being one nowadays is to change Necrozma to that type, but for as long as Necrozma, or rather Ultra Necrozma specifically, is not a light type then there is a bit of a funny fact about the Psychic/Dragon Pokemon.

I first learned of this fact from a YouTube comment that said “Shoutout to the being of pure light that’s weak to Dazzling Gleam.”

I have not thought of Necrozma when it comes to the Light type, but I would still like to see that type happen in the future, whether Necrozma gets it or not.

The most I can think of in terms of how that type would work is that it would be super effective against the dark type, but dark type attacks would also be super effective against it.
Nathaniel Bandy has a video on his channel where he undergoes a challenge of trying to beat Super Mario 64 DS without ever using Mario.

And I had brought up that video in a Twitch call I was in once, on a Twitch channel linked to a Discord Server I used to be in, and people were surprised to hear that it is indeed possible as Nathaniel completed the challenge.

One of the people in the chat asked what happens with the cutscene of Mario flying out of the arena upon collecting the star dropped by the final boss since Mario never gets used in this play through, and I answered what I believed was the case based on the footage shown in Nathaniel’s video.

My answer was “Let’s say that Luigi is the one to defeat Bowser. Once you go up and collect the star then Luigi just kinda stands there while a model of Mario loads in and flys away.”

That caused a number of people in the call to start laughing because they thought that was a funny troll move by Mario. One of them even asked an artist from the server who was watching the stream to draw a picture of that.

Which they did. It was a drawing of Luigi looking sad on the final battle arena as Mario is flying away and telling Luigi “Thanks for killing Bowser. Buh-bye!”

Thanks to that drawing. I think I should have used Wario as an example to describe that scenario instead of Luigi. It was already a pretty good drawing as is, but I think it would have been funnier if it had to use Wario.
From a certain point of view it's kind of ironic that Pokemon Black and White are held in such high regard with people thinking there's not a lot of issues with those games.

Considering that in the japanese versions that games region is called the Isshu Region.
For April Fools Day this year, blockfort.com did a Top 10 of Mischief Makers in gaming. As in characters that fit the role of a prankster or a rascal.

Professor Theo from the N64 game that’s actually named Mischief Makers did actually make the list though.

……….And his spot was Number 10.
    Pop Quiz:

How do you trigger a Smash Bros. fan who hates that Wario farts in the game, but also has King Dedede as their main?

    FazDude FazDude

I was asked to relay a message to you.

Lately the mining business has been seriously tanking, so your ex wanted me to let you know that she’s calling for alimony.
You know what would be a really bad idea?

If the only returning veterans for the next Smash game were the original 8.
I just learned about the delay on the pre-order date for Nintendo Switch 2.

And given that the reason for the delay means it’s possible for the price of the system to go up in the US because of politics instead of Nintendo’s own decision, first of all that being a possibility left me feeling stunned, second of all I cannot say I’m a fan of this possibility. I mean I can think of worse things to happen than a price increase for a video game console, but the fact that it would be something Nintendo would have to do because of politics when it’s very clear that they didn’t want to do that in the first place? That’s just a very irritating situation.
Back in 2009, a smashtuber with the username of pizzadudemanguy was asked about the idea of Rayman as a playable character, to which he answered that Rayman was not one of his top choices (at least at the time).

If memory serves, the wording he used for his reasoning was "In his recent games he's been drastically overshadowed by the Rabbids, who have now become more popular than him."

And it's that part about the Rabbid's becoming more popular than Rayman that I want to focus on here. That statement is not true in the modern day is it? I certainly hope it's not.
In the comment I just left on one of Champion of Hyrule’s posts, I used the term “3D DK Game”.

But since 3D ends with and DK starts with a D, wouldn’t we be able to refer to them as 3DK games?

I have a vague memory of some small studio or something named 3DK that might cause a couple issues with this idea, but that memory could be a Mandela Effect and if it is, then I want this name of 3DK games to become a trend.
I think I’m probably a little slow in realizing this compared to some others, but you know how Yoshi, DK, and Wario technically represent (or at least have their own symbols for) their own game series in Smash even though they’re Mario characters? And how some people believe this same thing should be done for Luigi because of Luigi’s Mansion?

Given the massive roster in Mario Kart World and the number of unique character choices in it that feel more “Mario Kart” than they feel like any other Mario game, then adding one or two of those characters could allow for a Mario Kart series symbol in the same vein.

The cow is a good example of a character they could do this with.
Remember Starlink: Battle for Atlas? And how the Switch version of that game had some neat new Star Fox content?

Well let's say that one of the "Star Fox" stages in the next Smash Bros. is pulled from Starlink instead because of said Switch exclusive content. On a scale of 1 to 5, what would you rate such an idea in terms of iconic status?
The Switch 2 Direct was pretty good!

    - June 5th release date. I did not expect it to be that soon.

    - A lot of 3rd Party titles shown. Some of which are ports sure, but either way there will be a lot of game available at launch.

    - Silksong actually got a release year. Color me surprised.

    - Gamecube classics are finally a thing. Sweet.

    - I don't take issue with the idea of Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Switch 1 games, but Forgotten Land is the only one I'm thinking I want right now.

    - Mario Kart World looks incredible. And thank goodness they dropped the number motif in the titles.

    - Looks like Sakurai's next project was a sequel to Kirby Air Ride. I'm sure that made some people happy.

    - And new 3d Donkey Game. Now that I didn't expect, but I certainly welcome it.

    - Tears of the Kingdom is in fact getting a Hyrule Warriors games. Freaking, YES. I am so happy about that.
If I am correct, Bomberman was the first of those cartoony, kid-friendly video game mascots to be turned into a dark and gritty version. This happened when Bomberman Act Zero came out. And now here we are in the modern day where the only other one of those mascots to have this happen to them is Pac-Man. Since that's what he is in that upcoming Metroidvania titled............you know, I don't actually remember it's name.

In any case, what if Sega uses the concept of crossovers to make this happen to a 3rd mascot? Which one? Billy Hatcher. They'd make a Billy HatcherXBayonetta crossover where the only creatures Billy can hatch are the the demons that Bayonetta can summon.
“Furious Fire is the best music track in Donkey Kong Country Returns. Change my mind.”

This is a challenge that I personally should not try to pose to anyone. As of right now I do believe that Furious Fire is indeed the best music track in Donkey Kong Country Returns, but I also haven’t played returns so the challenge to change my mind on this runs the risk of being too easy for people.
There's a youtuber by the name of The Green Scorpion who's primary channel focus is Video Game Top Tens.

And something kind of unique he tried once (and only once as far as I'm aware) was a face-off countdown. A double top 5 where each entry would face-off in "who would win?" battle setting. Number 5 on one list vs. Number 5 on the other, Number 4 vs. Number 4, you get the idea. And just to point this out, there were no animated fight scenes or anything because he lacked the ability to makes those or the funds and resources to commission someone else to. Also this was a video game countdown. So video game characters only.

The face-off was Top 5 Pirates vs. Top 5 Ninjas and the entries and fight results were as follows:

Number 5 - Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat) vs. Ridley (Metroid) - Winner: Ridley

Number 4 - Strider Hiryu (Strider) vs. Vyse (Skies of Arcadia) - Winner: Hiryu

Number 3 - Joe Musashi (Shinobi) vs. Cervantes (Soul Calibur) - Winner: Cervantes

Number 2 - Grey Fox (Metal Gear Solid) vs. Gangplank (League of Legends) - Winner: Grey Fox

Number 1 - Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) vs. Balthier (Final Fantasy 12) - Winner: Ryu Hayabusa
I once saw someone state a case of defense for Ai art by saying that people need to accept that Ai art is here to stay and will not disappear from the face of the earth, and there’s nothing anyone can do about that.

Now being realistic here, that is technically correct. Ai art will not vanish. But the person who made this claim pretty clearly failed to realize that just as no one can do anything to change that, so too can they not do anything to change the fact that there will always be people who have a problem with Ai Art. And for good reason as we all know.
Me - Mario Tornado or FLUDD. A debate that has sprung up many a time in the Smash community. But regardless of where you stand on it they could technically make both sides happy by giving Mario the Mario Tornado back and making a new character of Sunshine Mario where all his specials are the 4 different FLUDD Nozzles. Bing bang boom. Problem solved.

Logical Reasoning - Not quite. If that would work then this argument would have never become so prominent in the first place since Dr. Mario still has the Dr. Tornado even with Mario having FLUDD.

Me - That’s besides the point logical reasoning!
Another part of that weird dream I had that I mentioned in my previous post was that Geno was playable in this new Smash game and one of his abilities was turning into a minecart.

If Geno is announced for the upcoming Mario Kart and turning into a minecart is how he drives around, then I’m starting a business as a psychic.
    June 22, 2023

This was the night where I had a dream about a new Smash Bros game that had a lot of weird things about it.

One of them being how the art style looked a lot like Super Mario Bros Wonder. But the models for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong did NOT look good.

Which makes this a really freaky dream to look back on considering not only the art style for the upcoming Mario Kart, but the fact that some people do not like how Donkey Kong looks in it.
When Death Battle needs to go into things that are spoiler territory for me, I sometimes skip out on that episode for a while because I feel like I don’t want to be spoiled, but there are also times when I feel I don’t care enough and just take the spoilers in order to watch the episode.

Jotaro vs. Kenshiro was an example of the latter. On Kenshiro’s side, there is a spoiler it goes into that happens around the range of the last 30-40 episodes, possibly even less, and I had not yet reached that point when I was going through Fist of the North Star.

A former friend who had already seen Fist of the North Star all the way through was taking me through it on my first time watching it, so we kind of had an agreement that I wouldn’t watch episodes that were new to me on my own. That played a role in my decision here because neither of us wanted to wait to see that Death Battle.

But make no mistake, it is a notable spoiler. So if you’ve never seen the Jotaro vs Kenshiro death battle ninjahmos, you’ll probably want to wait awhile if you ever decide to see it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there very few notable vampires aside from Dracula?

I know of Carmilla, Nosferatu, and maybe there’s a case that can be made for Alucard in this regard, but isn’t that it?

To be clear, I’m talking about more in general, public domain if you will, vampires. Like how there are many different pieces of media that have their own depictions of Dracula. So someone like Rachel from Blazblue does not count for what I’m asking about.
In the Dragon Ball Z Abridged video known as Buu Bits, the Supreme was listing a couple minor examples of being evil, and one of the examples he gave was leaving your shopping cart in a parking space.

To which Goku responded with “Oh that’s super evil. The cart return is like….right there.”

And honestly, major props to Goku for saying that. That statement is a huge mood.
I remember a good number of years ago (Smash 3DS and Wii U had not even released yet) where I saw a video someone made of their Top 10 Favorite Fighting Games.

They had what they considered to be the top installments in the big names when it comes to fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, I think a Soul Calibur game was on there too, you get the idea.

But the game that took the number 1 spot was Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3. The reason? For as much as this guy enjoys fighting game, he get's pretty annoyed with spamming and button mashing. And according to what he said, the gameplay of Budokai 3 not only makes it impossible to spam or button mash, attempting to do is a bad idea. I forgot what he said in terms of why it's a bad idea, something about it utilizing too little of what each character is capable of I think, but that was his stance.
Movie sequels are often viewed upon with caution, a trend that has become the case with Pixar movie sequels as well.

But one example of an exception to this was The Incredibles. That was instead a case of people actively hoping for a sequel based on how the ending of the first one left a decent chunk of room for expansion.

However, I kind of feel like Incredibles 2 once it did actually release did not end in the same way. Meaning it's ending didn't really strike me as having a lot of room for a sequel in the same way the ending to the first movie did.

Which makes the confirmation that there will be an Incredibles 3 all the more surprising to me.
    Rain, Snow, and Hail.

It’s the case for all 3 of them that it sucks to be out in it when there’s also some Wind blowing, but which one of the 3 is the worst in this regard?
    Scenario:

Sega releases another one of those Sega All-Stars games and this time it’s a game inspired by/similar to Smash Bros, and each version has a system exclusive character. Which character would you choose to be the version exclusive on the Nintendo console?

Here’s the catch, you cannot pick a Nintendo character that has been playable in Smash Bros. before.

I guess it'd depend on what kind of "vibe" the game has overall, to be honest. The All-Stars games have a slightly different vibe to how they approach SEGA's history compared to, say, Smash with Nintendo's; so if we're keeping with that, it could quite easily lean into console war territory, or could just be a third-party character with prominent appearances on both companies' platforms.

A thought that occurs to me on the SEGA-owned front is perhaps an SMT pick of some kind, given the series' shared pedigree with Nintendo's platforms while still being a part of SEGA's history and library. Of course, the problem there is that you don't want to overly bloat Atlus representation, but while I could totally see a Persona pick being featured across systems, a mainline protagonist who isn't Demi-Fiend could work pretty well (I & II were cult SNES releases, IV and V were more recent Nintendo-exclusives.) But then, Demi-Fiend's a fan-favourite...

...or you could go with a "Jack Bros." team fighter consisting of Frost and Lantern. Considering Jack Bros. was the first SMT game released in Western markets. And that it's probably the biggest lasting piece of the Virtual Boy's legacy to this day.

KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 I think you may have misread the question. We’re talking about Nintendo characters to add. As in Nintendo owned.

SMT characters are not eligible for the criteria.
There is not a doubt in my mind that Tails is a great choice for a Smash Bros. Character.

But whenever I try to envision him in a Smash game, something just doesn't feel right. I picture the design and the default color scheme and for what feels like no reason, no good reason at least, something just feels off-putting.

A complete me problem, as I said Tails is a great choice, but he would be a character I'd really want to resort to alt. color palettes for to try and solve this personal problem.

If that would even work. I have the exact same issue with Diddy Kong and he has no alt. color palette that fixes this for me.
Personally speaking, I'm not too big on Smash Bros. Fan Games.

The main two I've tried are Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Bros. Crusade. Both of which use some neat ideas but in terms of actually playing them? I don't know something about the controls just feels off. I much prefer the way it feels to play an actual Smash Bros. Game.

That being said, I can think of a couple people here on Smashboards who would at least be happy that Anton is in Smash Bros. Crusade.

I think a big reason for SSF2 and SSBC feeling "off" to a lot of people comes down to the keyboard controls? But I'm agreed on their neat ideas; I still find Black Mage's inclusion in SSF2 to have been a really cool move...

Also, maybe Anton's some kind of Crusade mod? Iirc Crusade has a pretty significant modding community out there.

I’ve tried both games with a controller as well. Even then something just doesn’t feel right.

Also, I looked more into it, and yes, it’s a mod for Crusade. Didn’t realize that at first. My bad.

I played a ton of SSF2 in the past, purely on keyboard, but I never was able to get used to how Crusade handles. I don’t know how SSF2 handles on controller.

In regards to the debate of which game is better between Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing, I most often see people say that Diddy Kong Racing is better in the modern day (which I agree with) but there is one point I saw made once in defense of Mario Kart 64 being better that I want to ask what people think of here.

That point is how the designs of the tracks in Mario Kart 64 were more wild and crazy with a bunch of hairpin turns and what not while the tracks in Diddy Kong Racing were basically just circles.
