I think I uhh... might have contributed to giving Games Done Quick a mascot by accident. They recently introduced this character/logo/symbol/thing on the left for their Awfully Silly block, which I'm like 80% sure is a modified version of Weasel Willy from Don't Buy This (one of the VERY few public domain video games), who I made an upscaled version of the sprite of and posted on Wikimedia Commons among a few other sites (not that I was the first person to dump the sprite ofc, just the first to upscale it and take it out of a screenshot or sprite screen context). That's kinda neat.

Sonic being unpopular in Japan is a pretty funny pub-trivia fact that is interesting to analyse and puts a lot of stuff into perspective (while making others stranger), but I don't really get why non-Japanese Sonic fans really care about it on an emotional level. You're in one of the countries where Sonic is popular, you probably already have Sonic fan friends from the countries where Sonic is popular (most countries with common access of video games), it doesn't really effect you.
