The NASB2 story mode is good if repetitive gameplay-wise, and I think it suffers majorly from a lack of character interaction (even if it is surprising just how much they squeezed in there coming off of NASB1), but these go so hard that it might actually make it the best story mode in a multiplayer game ever.
The idea of a character like Rocko or Squidward inexplicably gaining the ability to majorly damage a god in one hit because the multiverse is in danger is awesome and hilarious at the same time, and no amount of reused out-of-context episode quotes or weapon animations choppily edited to look vaguely like a punch changes that.
