E3 (and in turn major hype culture) seemingly dying feels like release from a prison sentence (or at least what I imagine that would feel like) - it's not all big and celebratory like the end of a war, and there's a lingering piece of guilt/embarrassment, but it puts you at ease like nothing else could.

On one hand, I do think critic reviews are majorly flawed (even if not as much so as audience scores) since professional critics will often have to cover works outside their genre preferences, but on the other I do not understand why fans of "dumb fun" movies like Mario get so hostile about low critic scores. The only people a low critic score will draw away from a movie like that are people who probably wouldn't like it anyway.

I thought the Mario movie was OK, not great but nowhere near bad - just a mindless kids' flick that's hard to really talk about critically as a non-child. Barely any plot beyond "Bowser bad, stop Bowser", but the appeal is moreso the characters themselves and how they interact with one another. As I said earlier, despite being the character I was dreading the performance of most, DK was my favourite part - Seth did a really good job with the character and I love his dynamic with Mario, even if his laugh is as grating as it usually is. I also love the incel-y vibes they gave Bowser lmao - his motivation is "marry Peach" first and "take over the kingdom" second.. There's a desperate lack of Luigi.

While I do love Pizza Tower and Antonblast's soundtracks (and hell, the Earthworm Jim games' soundtracks too, since those were really the first to go for that wacky cartoons with hardcore music contrast), I hope most future games trying to do the off-model cartoon look don't attempt to replicate the techno style and instead go for the sort of quirky sound you'd expect from a comedy cartoon in that style.

Small EAC headcanon - the new stages don't have Omega or Battlefield forms, but do have Smashville and Small Battlefield forms which the base game and paid DLC stages don't have, adding extra stagelist options for Quickplay with their own unique set of aesthetics separate from the Omega and Battlefield stages.

I'm generally not one for source-accurate moveset revamps, I've made that very clear, but giving Ganondorf Peach's float would be kinda rad. Addresses one of his biggest weaknesses without completely eliminating it or removing any of the remaining Falcon attacks which have become iconic to non-Zelda-playing Smash fans over the last 20 years. Even if Ganondorf couldn't float in the games it would be a really cool inclusion as an original magic ability.
