I think Movie Sonic in NASB would be really cool - partially because they'd do him more justice than Smash, but also because NASB is a game that was basically made for Sonic, especially Paramount's wisecracking "Westernised" Sonic - super fast, super aggressive, filled with the kind of Western characters Sonic's design was inspired by, and attacks that revolve around dancing or throwing props are the norm.

If I did a "Smash Infinite but good" creation thread, I probably would've made it an in-universe sequel to SMSB and have a lot of the same qualities like the emphasis on stages and acceptance of kinda batcrap crazy ideas.

I've never really agreed with the philosophy of "permanently retire a character because their actor died" - that being said, if Danny DeVito dies before the Mario Movie 2 enters production, they should just not include Wario in any of the movies. I think this is the one scenario where a celebrity voice is objectively preferable.

I feel people tend to exaggerate just how dark Mother 3 is - like, I certainly think it's one of Nintendo's darker offerings, but I also don't think it would get an M rating like people say it would either. It's more the controversial elements that are an issue for a potential localisation than the dark elements - in particular the game's blatant pro-communism stance and everything about the Magypsies

I don't know how Infinite manages to be both, the only creation thread with more than 2 hosts and the only creation thread to be an utter management disaster - unless staff have dropped out since DLC started and it's just Venus now or something.

Imagine explaining what just happened with my Fraymakers event submission in the context of actual game development
"So, this one guy - kinda infamous, big Clippy fan - suggested we do a spirit crossover with Fraymakers and everyone liked the idea. The boss somehow signed onto this without realising Fraymakers is itself a crossover and that his idea was to have spirits of duos from the game - now we've just spent more money than we used to get Geno on 6 PNGs."

One thing I wish more platform fighters would embrace is competitive-friendly stage hazards - stuff like Randall on Yoshi's Story and Whispy on Dream Land 64. Sewer Slam in NASB is really cool, even if its sludge hazard is a little too RNG based.

While I prefer no unlockables at all, I do like the idea of a crossover allowing you to unlock franchises instead of individual characters. So, like in a Smash game you'd start off with every single Mario character, item, and stage, then instead of unlocking Link after 10 battles you'd unlock Link; Zelda; Toon Link; Temple; Gerudo Valley; Bunny Hood; e.t.c. all at once.

Early US Pokémon advertising is so fascinating to me - like, they fully embraced the whole "game hunting" thing and centered the ads around trapping Pokémon instead of befriending them. I do wonder if, had the anime not existed or been released outside of Japan and these ads were how US kids viewed the Pokémon universe outside the green pixels, the series would've gone for something edgier and less friendship-themed like these commercials going on like how 90s US Sonic marketing influenced the 2010s games, or on the opposite end of the spectrum the games would remain as is and there'd be Western fan outcry over the promotion of Pokémon friendship and care like there was for Wario's fart jokes when they finally started coming abroad.

Does anyone remember Puddi Puddi? The Japanese flan commercial that was a meme in 2012 or so? Because as a kid there was one part of that video that kinda creeped me out - when the last piece of a pudding is eaten at a party and the "puddi puddi!" voice clip is played with an echo effect right after. For some reason 10 year old me interpreted that as like a "face in the clouds" sorta way of implying I just saw one of the puddis from the animated segment die and that they're at rest.

I feel like you probably could've found 4 official alts that are possible to make as simple texture swaps for most or even all the NASB characters, but a lot of them would have to be shading differences taken literally (especially for Jenny and the R&S characters), taken from extremely rare merchandise (especially for SpongeBob, Turtles, and Garfield characters), or unused concept art designs. There'd also be a lot of "angry red" and "illness green" alts.

I do kinda like the idea of Melee becoming a seperate, more competitive and Nintendo-centric series from current day Smash like how Final Fantasy 7 or Street Fighter 2 are for their series, released concurrently to the more big festival-like main releases - no way in hell Sakurai or Nintendo could ever pull it off well though, not to mention the major fandom division it'd cause if pulled off well
