    Hey just a heads up, in the Sonic and SB Replaces threads there were more frequent updates the past week, but that's solely because of Spring Break leaving me with little else to do. Once school starts back up tomorrow, both threads will likely only be updated once every few days.
    And, again, sorry the whole music/spirits thing in SB Replaces is kind of a mess right now. I'm trying to find ways to improve the system.

    but then I remember that Mario Hoops 3-on-3 exists and suddenly there's nothing I want more than an absurd amount of unfitting crossover characters in a Mario game.

    I made an Instagram post with me and three of my friends in it, and I included a second image that was the exact same but it had text that read "We are going to to beat you to death" and it got taken down for enticing violence.
    I mean there's still pedos on the platform (whom I've attempted to report to no avail) but no let's take down the sixteen year old kid's post of him and his friends having fun

    Despite not liking TLOU 2 from a story aspect, I would be fine with The Last of Us getting adult Ellie as a rep - she can physically do more than her younger self and is just as badass. Would still prefer Joel and Ellie as a stance fighter, though - having Joel as the weightier mentor character helping out the faster, more agile but less experienced Ellie would be really dope.
    And yes my disliking of TLOU 2's story has everything to do with "that scene" in the prologue, I don't care if that's a childish criticism I still hate it

    Its not the fact that he died. Its how he died. It would’ve been better if there was some sort of catastrophe after Abby finds out who Joel is and Joel has to sacrifice himself for Abby and her team so that Abby is conflicted on the fact that she absolutely HATES him, but he still sacrificed himself to save her. Leaving Joel to just be beaten to death in the most painful way possible just doesn’t serve the character justice…

    In retrospect, I am a little sad we didn't finish the theme song job for Infinite a while back. I had an idea in mind for a "Super Smash Band" to perform it, consisting of Koji Kondo playing the piano, Josh Mancell on the drums, Jun Senoue with guitar, Lyn performing vocals, and Toby Fox arranging.

    Every time someone says something really, really dumb in the Infinite thread, I have to physically restrain myself from typing up a storm of counterarguments because I'm not part of the thread anymore and going back just to disagree with one person in particular could definitely be seen as trolling. Also there's just no reason to, especially when people in the thread can be downright exhausting to debate with when their stances shift after every point made.

    I’m sad you haven’t participated much, Janx. Especially since you really helped me out at the beginning. I will say that I’ve sunk more of my time and energy into this project than anything before.That being said, I feel like I’ve sunk far too much of myself into this project that it’s , to an extent, negatively impacted my personal life. I’ve long considered closing the thread due to misgivings on what the thread has become and, if I had known how much trouble it would be, I probably would never would have started. However, closing up shop now would end up invalidating over a years worth of work and collaboration. I’ve even been asked to close the thread by several people due to the issues stemming from it it or to “allow other creation threads more visibility.” but I’ve rebuffed them; maybe due to pride or dedication to it. I’ve considered handing the thread to someone else but I’ve grown to become dependent on the thread as it actually helps me compartmentalize things. It’s the one thing I enjoy in my life right now.

    I’m still quite proud of the thread and what we have achieved in the thread but I do understand why people view it as “toxic”, “cesspool”, “hellish” etc. Considering how much time and energy that I have put into this project and how much I will sink into it this coming year, I’m invested on how to make it better. This sort of stuff is never communicated to me save for occassional long winded debates in the thread or offhanded comments here in the profile posts. I’ve done my best to run the thread, especially since it’s back to my leading it rather than a group, but obviously I can only do some much and it’s hard to predict what will happen when I start us up on a job. Perhaps I’m the reason for the threads toxicity so knowing how I could potentially personally improve might help in the long run. I can’t bar anyone from participating in the thread nor do I want to but I’m dedicated to improving the community and culture of the thread and open to ideas, criticism, and suggestions. My goal was to create a fun and engaging community-driven project the benefits our site and its members. I feel that if people thinks the thread is a cesspool of toxicity, I failed to deliver what I had intended. Considering how much I failed on things over the past year in my personal life, I can at least do right by the thread and help it succeed.

    Well, I'm not going to explain the specific incident that pushed my buttons yesterday (as that would feel very much like tattling), but I think part of the reason I stopped was simply because it felt like a lot of work. And don't get me wrong - I love having a good work ethic about things that aren't really work, and I literally have a volunteer job here on SmashBoards. But it was exhausting having to type up so much for one character or stage, and Spirits were really exhausting to make too with the template and all. I found it much more comforting to submit content to threads like Mario Smash, where all I have to say is "Hint Block from the Yoshi series. He would attack like that one Rivals mod of the tutorial character. Fairly iconic and would be a funny inclusion." But in the Infinite thread, it's very clear that more words = more chances of winning, and that might've changed since I fell off of it, but it was definitely one of the reasons that I did.
    My final issue with the thread (at least, final issue that doesn't concern a specific user or group of users) would be how reasons for excluding things is always either too heavily based on the previous games or not based heavily enough on previous games. Saying CJ shouldn't be allowed because drugs and murder when Joker is literally right there, or not allowing accessories as Spirits (except for ROB expansions, those get a pass because there's a precedent for it). Oh yeah, and having a Discord for the game definitely wasn't the right call, I believe that's what led to a lot of the bullying towards users like Wario, and no matter how many times the Discord tries to promote less toxicity it never really works. Talking **** about people behind their backs (especially when its my friends) is definitely something I find nearly insufferable, real life or otherwise.
    I'll give the thread another shot though, since R&C content is seemingly wrapping up, and as you've said the thread isn't going away anytime soon. And there are a lot of cool people there that don't get enough spotlight with all the negative talk the thread gets. Plus, there's always the saying that "If you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself," which is especially true in a democratic environment like Infinite.

    I feel like the entire "type more words will get you a win" mentality has largely fallen by the wayside. We do get some lengthy submissions but those tend to be made in advance as the person who submits them is personally invested in that character. I personally have made a lot of small, less wordy submissions for characters in an effort to try to encourage more shorter but dedicated content none the less. As for Discord, I don't run it. I did make one at the start but this current one was made more quickly so that's the one in use. In retrospect, I should have pushed for the one I made as I could of had a more direct handle on stuff going on it it. I hear you though on any sort of "back talk" going in the discord and I did make attempts to pacify/reduce it as much as possible. I haven't been the best on that front though on a consistent basis. Anyways, I am always open to hearing how to improve the thread. I do hear a lot of people dunking on the thread and that's fine and dandy. I would appreciate feedback on those who do dunk on it so I can at least improve even if just a little.

    As for the complaints about accessory spirits and such, I delegated a lot of this to a group of people as I had no way in handling the Spirits. I suppose one could say that "if you couldn't handle it, why do it?" I wanted to but my life was at a transitioning point and was in upheaval. I usually went with what they felt was best and trusted and still trust their judgement. Had I been more involved, I probably would of been ok with it but to honor their original intention, I will (probably) still enforce this but I do intend to pull back a bit as we get Spirits coming in. DLC development has more control and direction to it compared to previously so its easier to work around with what we have. I have tons of regrets and ideas how I would of ran this project. The lack of planning and direction at the beginning hurt the game as well as not providing a clear and concise statement on "what's realistic vs what's unrrealistic" is what hurt the project later on.

    Anyways, thanks for letting me know. It really helps to try and make the thread the best it can be.

    If I had a nickel for every time a girl messaged me asking if I wanted to hang out, stood me up, then messaged me out of the blue a few months afterwards asking if I wanted to hang out again, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot and it's not that weird that it happened twice, since I probably just messed something up without realizing it

    Personally, I'm in a bit of a middle ground on it. (I'll start by mentioning that I'm autistic too.) I think FazDude's point on people being aware of autism is a good one - autism isn't exactly something that people aren't aware of, but the ideal situation in this sort of period would be to be able to quell misconceptions. Contrary to what "patronising advert number seven" says, we're uh... people.

    Even so, I understand the concept of why it exists. A part of it is because of it's role as a UN event, meaning that it's partially not aimed directly at first world countries and, partially at least, is to genuinely make people aware of autism and neurodivergency as a whole in education and the like.

    Even so, there's problems. The main thing that annoys me is that us folks with autism are seen as kinda... unable to speak for ourselves? Like, I lowkey hate the fact that so many resources to do with autism are directed toward parents and carers... yikes.

    Oh, and on the whole debate between puzzle pieces and the symbol of infinity? I don't understand the appeal or meaning behind either and personally don't particularly like them. Idk they just seem weirdly childish and I feel that's a small part of a bigger problem.

    Let's just hope PETA doesn't say that milk causes autism again lol

    Both Wario cubed and KneeOfJustice have some valid points. Now that I think about it, neither the puzzle piece or infinity symbol are very good symbols for autism; People with autism aren't "incomplete", nor are they filled with infinite potential that NTs don't have. They're people, just like anyone else. Do they have challenges that NTs don't? Of course. I don't think autism should be villainized or anything, but I don't think it should be glorified, either. The puzzle piece and infinity symbols do one or the other, and that's a bit of a problem, but not one that I feel is worth fighting over to the degree that it has been.

    Anyway, I do agree with KneeOfJustice in the sense that autistics aren't really given room to speak for themselves, which isn't really fair. People with autism can have social/communication challenges, but I do think those that can speak their thoughts on issues relating to autism should do so rather than having NTs run the show while using people with autism for pathos points.

    Overall, I'm going to restate my first reply to this status; Autism awareness isn't the problem anymore, but acceptance. We neeed people to fully understand the condition, both the positive and negative aspects, and we need people on the spectrum to speak up about it.

    (also thank you for reminding me about that peta ad; now i remember why i hate their guts so much)

    I can see why that is the case. Plus, aren't the meanings of the puzzle piece and infinity kinda contradictory to each other? With the puzzle piece possibly meaning that autistic people cannot do much and the infinity symbol possibly meaning autistic people have unlimited potential while neither are true? Personally, I am autistic, but I feel as capable as anyone else out there, and I feel that any other autistic person are capable of the same. I do wish they would change the symbol now. Still, autistic people get too much hate for untrue reasons, due to popular misconceptions. We are not dumber or incapable compared to normal people. We may have social and communication issues, but we are just like everyone else, and should be treated like everyone else. Still, I don't think the puzzle piece or the infinity symbol accurately describes autistic people.

    I have a 40k word goal for this month, and my novel is getting to a really slow part, so I'm gonna start a Silver fanfic to keep my motivation (and word count). Might even have a second STS article this month if both get too boring.

    If it weren't for Mechagodzilla's appearance in GvK, I probably would've submitted him to the Fortnite thread already. But that would inevitably lead to someone getting spoiled on his appearance, which I would not wish upon even my worst enemy. MG's reveal in that movie was easily the most excited I've ever gotten in cinemas, and I'm not even a Kaiju guy. I just read about him in Ready Player One, not really having an image to go off of apart from what the book described, and the Monsterverse interpretation beautifully captured everything I imagined him to be.
