My great grandmother got part of her nose removed at one point and so she couldn’t smell but there was apparently one thing she could smell: ****. The poop from a baby’s dirty diaper. That makes me wonder: what if there was someone who was born without the ability to smell and one day they just go outside and suddenly can smell poop? I’m sure they’d realize “oh wait is this smell?” but still that must be a weird feeling

I think some of the tonal issues in terms of how smash 64 characters appear in later entries (Mario not seeming happy, DK being more animalistic, Luigi being portrayed as way more cowardly than he is in the mario games) can be explained by the fact that it makes more sense in smash 64. With limited expressions and the fact that game actually feels like a kid playing with toys those issues with expression don’t feel like issues in the first game. As soon as Melee made the games more realistic and accurate to the source material is when is starts to feel off.

I can’t explain it but something about the pick up and play nature of handhelds makes it much more bearable when there are some frustrating issues with game design. It doesn’t necessarily make it more fun just a bit less frustrating. That’s why I’m hoping for DK64 on switch soon.

My biggest issue with the Kirby games (older ones, those are what I’m more familiar with and I haven’t played forgotten land) is that it’s way of letting you dynamically make it easier is to avoid the game mechanics. You can just fly over many of the obstacles or enemies meaning you’re not really engaging with them and lots of boss battles are trivialized by the copy abilities too. It’s a game for children obviously but that doesn’t mean it should have no challenge

Tried making a semi-serious data east vs jaleco roster but it didn’t work out because there was way too much of an imbalance in how many characters both sides actually have. A fighting game for one of those companies could be cool tho.

Mixed on Prime Remastered for purely personal reasons. It looks absolutely beautiful and it completely blew me away with its visual style but I’ve already played Prime twice and never any other of the games so I really want to try 2 or 3 and don’t see what the point is in replaying 1 personally when there are two other similar games I haven’t played.

I’ve always wanted to name a villain character Lord Nightwater. It sounds cool and intimidating at first but when you think about it it brings to mind the extremely weird taste of drinking water when you wake up at 3AM. Maybe for like an Eggman or King K Rook type villain I dunno.
