Hey man, we agreed ages ago that glitches were ok, and aside from TP we didnt skip major stuff anyway. However I agree we need to switch things up or at least get on the same page if we are gonna treat it like a race next year.
All in all I think this year was pretty successful for Sydney. There were some last-minute logistical nightmares but in retrospect I think they were for the better since I was forced to focus on the essential as opposed to rushing the ideal. We all were adequately practiced which is the biggest difference, and sleep was managed well enough. Unlike last year the stream ran beautifully and thanks to Gords' laptop did not drop a frame all weekend despite constantly encoding at almost 4mb/s. The only thing is the amount of space we had made things uncomfortable at times but all in all everything went quite smoothly.
It felt like Perth and Sydney switched roles this year. Last minute organising, no practice and an extremely unreliable stream are all problems Sydney had before. Honestly I think practice was the biggest difference, not the use of glitches (sydney used glitches last year too and we got slammed). No-glitch OOT is like 5 hours anyway and I'm 100% certain TP should not take 10 hours with good planning so imo its not a major issue in terms of the future of this event. But on the topic of preparation I do have to apologise to Marteh for telling him we could share a site for team info but not having the system set up in time. **** hit the fan bro, what can I say?
The real question now is, where do we go from here? The way I see it we could go the USA route and just add more games, more time, more stuff in general, OR we could change the goals we're going for in the first place (100% or something I dunno). It depends on whether we want to integrate with the USA team more or less imo. There was talk on streamchat of flying over and doing it alongside them live. I think that's a great idea in theory but I know for certain I will not have the money next yeat due to Japan and I know some people here will not be interested unless they also went for smash or something. I dunno, just throwing around ideas for now.
Anyway, Sydney times:
Skyward Sword - 9:40:44
Twilight Princess - 10:56:59 (5:05:26+5:51:33)
The Wind Waker - 8:08:43
Majora's Mask - 7:05:34
Ocarina of Time - 4:20:29 (0:22:05+3:58:24)
REMAINING 4/48 TIME - 6:38:08
TP froze at the end of the first attempt because Gords' Wii ejected the disk, and our last save was like pre-Morpheel so we were like **** it.
With OOT I went over my Bombchu fail limit early and didnt save at all so I had to reset to the beginning.
My laptop is in hospital right now so I will start uploading recordings as soon as I get it back, probably in a day or two.
