Well I think the general agreement was you can use glitches/skips if you want, that's not to say you *have* to though. I'm certainly not going to pressure sydney people into that stuff if they don't want to, however I will be following the MST ruleset for OOT.

escro -- there isn't really a prerequisite hardcoreness, this is more of a casual event at heart. hell, the US team were the original people to do this and they choose to use only a limited number of the simple timesavers.

are the americans still raising money for charity?

Oh and by the way. I just found out my license got suspended so I won't be driving anywhere for this.

yeah they are still raising money. they've even got this whole system set up where they do different things in their runs depending on how much they raise and stuff, pretty cool.

preordered ages ago lol

I think we are set for players this time but if there is enough interest you should try and organise another sydney team. I dunno how tom feels about having too many people over but you could show up for moral support too. O:
edit: ima look into the possibility of having it at mine.

me? organise? lol good joke
tbh though, even if i were to be part of the team id probably end up being a liability as my zelda knowledge would be trumped by everyone else.
however, that moral support idea sounds fantastic. either way, if you need more players/people let me know. id love to come for whatever reason frankly.

ah, and where (like which store) did you preorder from? me being broke and cheapo asian i wanna get the best deal and try preorder for cheaper if i can...

thanks EA

I ordered from EB in town hall (under galeries victoria). Your best bet in regards to a deal is probably jb, I chose eb cause they actually had a price announced and wanted to pay it off in one go.

News for nsw players: This thing will be held at tom's for us. Unfortunately we can't have too many people over for space issues, so I'm gonna have to limit the spectators to just Luke (promised him he could come ages ago).

also, whatup gords

I'm assuming the full stream will be available to download later? I would like to watch, but I'd have to download it at night.

Well Sydney owned, lets be honest
Despite the many glitches used
However I think me being able to pass both MM and WW solo was a pretty good effort on the little sleep I had, and the rage was fun.

All in all was fun again guys, however we're thinking of not doing it next year/changing it. Everyone seems to be doing things differently or playing differently so no real point on timing it plus it stops chances of viewers, so we may doing something different next year.

Hey man, we agreed ages ago that glitches were ok, and aside from TP we didnt skip major stuff anyway. However I agree we need to switch things up or at least get on the same page if we are gonna treat it like a race next year.

All in all I think this year was pretty successful for Sydney. There were some last-minute logistical nightmares but in retrospect I think they were for the better since I was forced to focus on the essential as opposed to rushing the ideal. We all were adequately practiced which is the biggest difference, and sleep was managed well enough. Unlike last year the stream ran beautifully and thanks to Gords' laptop did not drop a frame all weekend despite constantly encoding at almost 4mb/s. The only thing is the amount of space we had made things uncomfortable at times but all in all everything went quite smoothly.

It felt like Perth and Sydney switched roles this year. Last minute organising, no practice and an extremely unreliable stream are all problems Sydney had before. Honestly I think practice was the biggest difference, not the use of glitches (sydney used glitches last year too and we got slammed). No-glitch OOT is like 5 hours anyway and I'm 100% certain TP should not take 10 hours with good planning so imo its not a major issue in terms of the future of this event. But on the topic of preparation I do have to apologise to Marteh for telling him we could share a site for team info but not having the system set up in time. **** hit the fan bro, what can I say?

The real question now is, where do we go from here? The way I see it we could go the USA route and just add more games, more time, more stuff in general, OR we could change the goals we're going for in the first place (100% or something I dunno). It depends on whether we want to integrate with the USA team more or less imo. There was talk on streamchat of flying over and doing it alongside them live. I think that's a great idea in theory but I know for certain I will not have the money next yeat due to Japan and I know some people here will not be interested unless they also went for smash or something. I dunno, just throwing around ideas for now.

Anyway, Sydney times:
Skyward Sword - 9:40:44
Twilight Princess - 10:56:59 (5:05:26+5:51:33)
The Wind Waker - 8:08:43
Majora's Mask - 7:05:34
Ocarina of Time - 4:20:29 (0:22:05+3:58:24)
REMAINING 4/48 TIME - 6:38:08

TP froze at the end of the first attempt because Gords' Wii ejected the disk, and our last save was like pre-Morpheel so we were like **** it.
With OOT I went over my Bombchu fail limit early and didnt save at all so I had to reset to the beginning.

My laptop is in hospital right now so I will start uploading recordings as soon as I get it back, probably in a day or two.

Can definitely agree to some kind of standard between teams. I dunno if I could agree to something glitch free though...that's part of the fun imo.

Well i can tell you one thing, I'm definately NOT 100% ing Wind Waker, you can forget that.

In terms of changing it up, having an Aussie team going over to America and doing alongside the US team sounds ****ing amazing, words here on smashboards can't express my enthusiasm for this. I could easily intergrate it into Japan/America trip.

Otherwise more collaborating with the other teams and if we are racing identical start times. I believe we should start the same time as the US team as well. This year the sydney team started about 10 before America and Perth started a day after Sydney.

I think more games is good as well as the 100% thing, however I'm agree with scoot using glitches and tricks is what makes it all the more fun.

I could probs think of more but rediculously tired atm

usa did not start 10 hours after us, they started about when perth did. sydney starting a day early was a planning mistake, we were all meant to start at the same time.

i had a long conversation with tom last night about ideas for future 448s. doing this on phone makes it hard to bounce between pages while writing a post tho so i will go through the pastebin when i get my computer back.

Fun is pretty subjective - I don't mind if you guys use glitches or whatnot, but I won't be using them for any runs I do. I got enough of that with Brawl lololololololol. Not that it matters if I'm in Japan next year anyway, but meh :D
Rage was pretty funny though. Pity TP was desynched otherwise I could have made a montage of failrage

well the way i see it i play zelda so much as it is that anything to make it more than just another playthrough can only be a good thing. on top of that i just love breaking apart games to begin with. i really cant see myself ever doing 448 glitch-free, but i am willing to tone it down a bit if it bothers people that much.

we came up with some ideas for that, more on that later though.

well i remember a count down timer on the US site saying about 10hrs when we started SS and thats why i thought the americans started 10 hrs behind us
also i know that a desynced start was an organisational error.

i look forward to hearing about this convo on the future of 4/48. i hope perth continues to be involved

Reposting this here cause it was mostly 448 stuff anyway:

gords it said 10 hours because it was set to countdown to 10am on the 17th but it didnt take into account timezones. basically, it was poorly coded.

no laptop yet, sony service are still waiting on parts. i have vids uploading on my brother's laptop tho. (update: last one will finish in like 5 hours)

I uploaded the recordings directly, no encoding. That is as high quality as you're gonna get outta youtube. I will give you the vids at gong tourney or something though if you still want em.

maybe more options will be available later. youtube always takes a while to fully process 15min vids, let alone 7 hour ones.
