Interesting... I'll have to try this out. If I understood this correctly, this lets you change costumes in the middle of the match? Sweet.

I found something awkward.
It loads the wrong color icon (IE R+Y+down loads normal mario color but the fire mario icon).
Also it doesn't crash when used on alloys (it will make them only respawn).

If you model hacked the person (which is in the costume), and you use this...

...then the model would instantly change?

For example, if one of Snake's costumes had Captain Falcon's model,
could you change model instantly?

I assumed brawl made sense but the values for the costumes and icon portraits are almost never the same

Does anyone have a code for a custom CSS with ALL of the alloys that doesn't crash? The one I'm using only has the red and yellow alloys.

I have a CSS with all the alloys, but when i select them they're still C falcon, Zelda, etc. If you want it I can give it to you, but i just cant get the alloys working for me.

It doesn't crash, save for some occasions when there are alloys in a 4-player match. Works flawlessly otherwise.

Eldrian, would you happen to know a way so that the alternate file loader doesn't conflict with alloys? I turn on the CSS codes for alloys and it freezes at gecko. I turn off the alt file loader while leaving the alloys on and it works. Any idea why it would conflicting? I need to find a way around this so that I can keep vBrawl but be able to switch to PSA's while having alloys at the same time. I really hope there's a way around it.

Sorry, I'm afraid I couldn't say why that happens. It is well known that the Alternate File Loader's current iteration is quite glitchy. I don't use it myself. However, there is another way to have access to the alloys, which might work okay. That method is the On-the-Fly Character Changer (probably named slightly differently) which should be in the first few posts of this thread.

oh really? PW is working on some sort of clone engine that is similar to it right? Or so I've heard. But Would that on the fly switcher work for other models, say like waluigi over red alloy?

PW discussed quite a long time ago (e.g. prior to the release of the original alternate file loader) that he was working on "truly" adding characters - a method of changing the game's code such that it could be convinced alternate characters had been there all along - giving them their own CSS slots, models if available etc.

I have always been loathe to continue work on the AFL out of fear that PW's task is just prior to completion, rendering my work redundant. A similar thing happened with Dantarion's stage loader. The lack of debugging equipment was the leading factor, though.

I'm at home right now, but upon my return to university i will have primitive debugging equipment (i will be able to play brawl on my monitor, which i also use for my computer), which should be enough to iron out the glitches in the current incarnation of the AFL, which promises to be a tiny bit more stable.

I agree, I learned ASM, made a code, ironed out some bugs..then had PW outdo me :D

My code is still awesome for random textures for stages...but...not much else.
