If I remember correctly, Microsoft had a shortage of XBOX 360s, and people who reserved it had to wait. If the "No reservations" rumor is true, it could be that Gamstop/EB Games isn't willing to take such a chance.
I'm ecstatic you understood. Customers got pissed because some had to wait till March to get their 360s, Gamestop doesn't want the same thing to happen again, so no reservations.

I live only 40 minutes away from Nintendo World Store in NYC. . .and since I'm almost sure they're taking pre-orders, all I have to do on launch day (or night) is line up with the countless other Nintendo fanboys and brave the 40 minute commute home while avoiding the random encounters with Hoodlums and Unsavory Characters.

. . .although, travelling home at 1-2 AM in NY isn't that great of an idea. . .

Then I imagine Nintendo will release it a few days before Thanksgiving, what they did for the DS.

Considering GameStop isn't getting its kiosks until late October to early November, I'd expect a mid November release.

I may be recieving the Wii for Christmas so, in my case, the release date doesn't matter.

Do they always get the kiosks before release? I've forgotten now. I'd imagine they would, which is bad news for those of us (all) hoping for a release in the nearer future.
The 360 kiosks hit mid October last year if I remember correctly, while the system launched on November 22nd.

Visiting from above.
I'm not counting on an October release. That'd be awesome, but you can pretty much expect Nintendo to launch hardware in November. The N64 and Gamecube both launched in November (if I remember correctly anyway) for 200$.

I went to EB today to pick up a birthday present for a friend. While I was there the manager asked me If I wanted to preorder any Wii titles. I asked him If they would be taking preorders for the Wii and he was almost positive that they would be. He said that the problem that with the 360 launch was that they started taking preorders before they were told the total amount of consoles they would be recieving. He told me that once he gets a release date and the amount of consoles at launch, he should be taking preorders.

I remember right, the N64 actually released for $199.99, with the games being sold for a whopping $69.99!

Is Super Mario Galaxy a launch title?

If not, I'll probably just wind up getting it for my birthday or Christmas.

jolly old england. hohoho.
weeee, my friend got this quote from IGN forums:

I absolutely SWEAR to you all that you'll be getting the price, release date, list of games that will launch with the system, and a list of what comes with console itself on the 14th.

You know the drill, though. I can't spoil who my source is as he would kill me. I've known him for 9 years, and I'd trust him with my life. He got into Nintendo (or more accurately, NST) in 2000, by taking the classes at Digipen and getting on from there, as many Digipen students do.

I've seen how many people are complaining about how if Nintendo doesn't spill all on the 14th, they're going to be extremely upset, complete with the "Nintendo is stupid" rants and sudden lack of faith in the company. I can't sit back and let you people get upset over a lack of information at conference that is still six days away. You will get the information you want on the 14th.

The price will not disappoint. The date will not disappoint. The games will not disappoint, obviously. What comes in the box might disappoint a few of you, though. Nintendo is going to pack in the console itself of course, with two Wii remotes and two nunchuck attachments. As far as my source knows though, you won't be getting the classic controller packed in. Nintendo will also be deciding on the 13th, the day before the conference in other words, whether or not to add an SD memory card to the list of things included in the box.

To make up for the lack of the classic controller at launch, Nintendo is planning to pack in Wii Sports. The whole point behind the Wii is to get everyone in the family interested in gaming. Nintendo figures that two Wii remote and nunchuck controllers and Wii Sports will be an immediate hook for the audience they're aiming for. Many people remember those NES sports games as some of their favorite NES games. (RBI Baseball, anyone?) Nintendo is hoping to snag older fans back with this Wii Sports title. They're also hoping that older non-gamers (specifically, the parents that had kids that played games during the NES era) see the ease of the controller, remember that their kids played the NES versions, and gain an interest in Wii Sports themselves.

If you don't believe me now, you will in six days. So sit back, play your Gamecube for a few final memories before you pack it away and replace it with the Wii, and be ready for the 14th. You'll all be very happy.

If true, I am happy with the launch set up :) If the price is less than 160 pounds I'm most likely gonna buy the console at launch with a bundle like that. Otherwise it still depends on other launch games.

EDIT: hmmmm, I'm not sure if this quote is true. I don't read ign forums, I haven't seen this posted anywhere else and my friend doesn't remember where he got it from >.>

One simple word...link?

To Cashed: Yes. Dramatic effect.
Was there a point to posting about my post and not discuss about the topic at hand?

Yes: Moderation.
Yeah it sure has it's perks doesnt it?

Let us stroll back on topic shall we? SuperBowser's info sopposedly posted my Matt C. from IGN looks tempting, but It should definately be taken with a grain of salt. "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see."
