Why do you play Brawl competitively?

I go to tournaments just to catch a fleeting glimpse of Banks. If we get to play it's just a bonus, especially if it's a tournament because that promises HANDSHAKES or POUNDS.

Also, I don't think I've ever met a Melee player who I didn't get along with. Seriously, people at tournaments are so great.

I wish I lived next to more smashers so we could be the best of friends. It'd be like the Fox and the Hound except we'd all be humans, there would be more than two of us, nothing bad would happen and there would be lots of Melee.

one of the highlights of my tournament experience is meeting and falling in bro-love with skler.

Well, that's kind of easy :lick:...I played Brawl after playing the other two games, Melee and SSB, and I've always been the competetive type :ohwell:. But its taught me lessons, like how there are time where even the greatest fall down from time to time :lick:...
I like your post Ninja :)

The reason I play is really for the traveling. I spent most of my life in NorCal, and it was nice seeing the surrounding areas.

But now, I have a job that always has me working on weekends. :(

But competition is always fun, from a local level, to an international level.

for fun, the competition, and the community. Smash has always been my favorite fighter, and the game I was always good at(Or so I thought anyway, lol). I started getting competitive in the couple months before Brawl's release, and promised myself I would go all out competitive when Brawl was released. At 1st it was mainly for the competition and the desire to get better, but now its for the fun and the community as well. The smash community is so freaking awesome. ^_^

I still have a barrier or two to get by before i can consistently make money at tourneys, but when i do its super fun

also what chibo said

what puffball64 said too, i used to hate giving MK all my money but now i love it. cus IM the MK

I think smash has the best community of any game ever. with a few singular exceptions but its generally awesome

Yeah, Im going to my first tournament in a couple months.

Im actually kind of worried because its a weird tournamnet

its single round elemination, and I cant play the same character more than once.

I cant decide whether to save my best for last or use him first, (wolf)

Beacuse i dont wana lose first round but if i save him thers always the possibility i could win with him later. It just means i have to put alot of work into other character which is gonna be tough.

Hope i do good though, lol.

I love competition.

I play Yu-gi-oh and Magic the Gathering Competitively, on a budget. Smash is better than both of those, much less costly, and I can actually play hand on rather than with cardboard.

I started playing just for the hell of it and went to Genesis as my first tournament and I got out of pools which motivated me to keep playing. I also started playing melee and I like it a lot

Mainly because it's fun, and I've just always been competitive by nature.

Brawl just happened to make me slightly better at Melee. As random as that is.
I think you tend to focus a lot more on spacing in brawl than melee since you just can't force openings in melee with various techniques. That's at least how I think about it for my gameplay.

I play melee for fun and I get better at brawl the more I play melee

I liked Melee and until about a month ago I hadn't the slightest idea of how to perform an L-cancel, wave dash so, I considered it to be too late to get into the whole Melee scene, though I can sorta do it now. I play brawl mostly because I was left in a cardboard box for the last three years with no means of escape and only a Wii and a copy of brawl, also the money is not bad either.

I thought I would place better since I was too late to the Melee party and got defeated.
Ironically, the result is the exact opposite.
If you look at my Melee records, the last Melee tournament I went to was at a local NYC tourney and got 7th using only Yoshi out of +64 people.

Playing the low tier hero doesn't seem to work out to well in this game, so I'll just use more Snake.

BTW, Yoshi is my favorite nintendo character and MGS is my favorite third-party franchise.

This MIGHT have to do with the fact that I have no one to play with and therefore have to rely more on tech skill.
