@Marteh: if you want a lift, PM me and I'll give you my address so you can make your way up here (or you can catch the train and I can pick you up from the station - so not driving all the way to Kwinana just to come back the other way lol ^^")

@G: I'm not even gonna try and spell that off memory :p Anyway, that'll be fine - I can fit 5 people in the car, 6 if someone hops in the boot (but they'll have to duck if we see a cop car - the codeword will be "Panda")... Though you may want to bring some CDs/iPod with you, unless you want to listen to Welsh Rock/Metal with a twist of Jamaica??? Either/or some indie stuff that "no one likes" (or so I'm told :p)

I also agree with Trav's suggestion for the tournament layout_ It'll be interesting to see if you end up competing in L4D_ Either way it's good to have you on the crew_ Numbers are slowly growing so we should have a solid squad for SQUAT (4 confirmed so far, 2 more i'm aware of)_ Keep those subscriptions rolling_

Not surprised about Splice's age in contrast to his skill_ Just look at some of our better players in Perth and their ages range from 15 - 19 i'm pretty sure_ I hope we get a chance to meet you_

So blue names are the new cool huh_ Love seeing Jupz get all high and mighty about his title heh_ I suggest pranking him_

The Brawl events seem to attract the most players, so I'm in favour of separating doubles and singles to spread out the insanity... As for the other events I wouldn't have a clue on how to do that (didn't stay for crews @ Jupz' T.T), so I'll be indifferent xD

How about set-ups??? Are they all going to be along the one or two walls or just be evenly spread out around the perimeter??? (I think I'd prefer the latter, as it gives more space for crowds to congregate if one of the matches becomes really good :p)... Also, I'm thinking one or two main stations (larger TVs and/or projected images for crowds to watch, with the option (or rather, space set up) for commentary as the tournaments gets to the more exciting match ups)... If we have two projectors handy, we can use one of them to project the TIO screen on until the later stages of the tournament, just so people aren't crowding around a tiny monitor :p... Not sure if there'd be enough people to warrant that measure, though???

EDIT: I'm too fresh to the scene to go to Squat, but I'll be cheering you on from here xD

I like the idea of skype too

Can you do group voice chats with skype?
You can do conference calls up to 24 people I believe, though you can only do video calls one-on-one I think.

I reassured her that no one there would do anything stupid.
Lol

Mic when you getting back? We miss you.
Gonna be back early morning on Mon the 19th. For the record it's highly likely that I'll be busy on the first 2 sundays back, if anything's being organised that far ahead.

Convention centre would be great but i suggest perhaps we approach gaming distributors as possible sponsors to perhaps strike a deal with the convention centre_ We can possibly find out if any of these companies have contacts or are willing to organise something with the convention centre_ Hey if we need to advertise or promote **** then so be it if it means reducing costs or helping out with tournament needs_
We should probably loo around at a few places and get prices before determining to go with the convention centre. Though it would be kick *** to do it there.

We need to make this big so the convention centre is our best choice overall and should be our primary target_ I was actually contemplating trying to get in contact with the guys from 'good game' to see if they wanted to do a story on the brawl scene or perhaps even be special guest commentators **** i dunno_
Would be cool, but concidering they're based in the east... :c

That said, Rocky got lucky with coverage, Hyper Magazine and (at least one?) TV station too.

hey hey, just because swordsaint and shaya are idiots doesnt mean the rest of us are ;)
Lol

Yo Perth dont worry, Dekar trolls everywhere, not just you gaiz ;)

<3 Dekar
Was going for him and Em in teams ^^

Am i the first person to two stock Corpse in any match ever ? =D /being cocky
Haha, man, the first matchup with you guys in winners was INSANE. He ***** you, then suddenly you're ******, then sam again, then you, was astounding!

Welsh Rock/Metal with a twist of Jamaica???
What the hell?

Oh and Elton, took a picture in Melb for ya, but you have to wait til I get back to upload it!

Good stuff guys. I reckon we should talk to the energy drink companies or EB games or something and tell them if they sponsor us we can put up massive posters around the venue advertising their company? Most companies seem to go for that.

And IMO the plan should be this:

Friday: Side tournaments + sponsored events (meybbb??) since friday will be the first day and some people might not be able to make it and we can then cater to the majority of people with still leaving an incentive for people to get here 1 or 2 days before.

Saturday: Melee Doubles + Melee Singles

Sunday: Brawl Doubles + Brawl Singles

I like the idea of getting a commentator from a company who can shoutcast the whole event but seeing as were not gona be filming and putting it on a website or anything we should just stick to guest commentators throughout the event.

Oh just a quick thought while it's fresh_

I'm contemplating on starting a new thread during my holidays for a sort of 'meet your players' situation_ Basically it will involve people firstly PMing me with who they think should be interviewed and then i create a poll_ Highest votes is selected and then we have a set time and number of pages for people to ask questions to the person_ I will then compile the questions into a formal format and send them to the person to be answered by a certain time_

When they send me back their answers i will post them in a seperate thread and link to them or possibly look at using the code format to keep all the conversations in the same thread_

Anyone like this idea_? I'll start it on saturday if everyone aggrees_ It's similar to the one already for America but it'll be an Australian version_

EDIT: Erm Jono i'm a film student heh_ Trust me when i say we will be officially filming all the events, having a side section to talk to the camera etc_ We will be filming free of charge, courtesy of SAE and my fellow school members ;) As for recording matches, i'm sure we can organise something_

Jupz, you'll have to wait until he's actually here to kiss his ***. :p

But still, it's sweet that you're coming. It'd good to have another person for us to lose to apart from Sam.

Marty we can still do the speed run on the tourney if you want. If we don't complete it just save it and we will complete it next tourney :p. I don't know though depends what ever you want to do.

Man our scene has some really cool guys in it that are useful at one small section. Like how bob will do filming and how i will make some posters. Basically we are all awesome.

Shaya is coming yay. He would most likley sweep the floor here. Main men in our scene you should know of are Sam, Richard and Vlade. I like to group them as the 3 amigos.

So you guys know, if you do need help with the funding, I could make some posts on OzHadou and try and get an SF4/SF3/TvC/whatever tournament in the same rooms, which would increase monetary income, but so long as the tournaments aren't run at the exact same time, wouldn't increase the people in the rooms by too much.

Also, I'm really desperate to watch some people play SF4 live. There's like one arcade machine in Perth. :p

EDIT: Wait, when are we running this? Next year July? If so, then TvC will be easier and SSF4 will be out, but still fairly new so a tournament of either of them would be fairly nice.

I think that depends on weather they're willing to give us a dedicated TV to do it on :p, and Im sure we can get the game passed in 9 hrs :p

I guess yeah we could do it in 9 hours, I did it in 12 before and that was searching around for treasure and all that.

But if you do want to play it at the tourney just tell me. We shall play and anyone else who wants to aswell can.

Pete's idea is good. If we do the sign up thread we can see how many people we have then decide if we should add in somthing what pete said to get more people to be able to pay for the venue.

Would be good to catch you before SQUAT Shaya_ Hope you have enough money to get over here and to QLD cause i can guarantee you it won't be cheap_ You should crash at mine anyways just to spite Jupz and besides i have no parents unless you require parental guidance, diaper changes and the occasional bottle feeding in which case i pass_

Pete i like your suggestion_ No feedback on my player interview thread suggestion_?

I am the only person in australia who has taken a full best of 5 tournament set from corpsecreate.

Just realised that July might be a no-go, I think I have a music tour at that time.

I suppose we could just reschedule it for next holidays, since a people seem to want to go to US during July anyway.

I'd love to see some SF4 played - personally I'm not too great at it, so I'd love to see how people use each of the characters (especially the crazy running Mexican guy :p Can never figure him out lol)...

As for other possible venues, it might be a long shot but could we try any of the Unis??? I know Curtin has built a brand new "Stadium" which I've seen being used for like graduations and tests and stuff (and it has sorta like a built-in "stage" thing, which we could use for presentations XD)... I don't know the policies of them renting it out, though T.T Other than that we could try some of the hotels around the CBD???

Bob: that idea is pretty good ^^ I'd read it :D (could make it a youtube project if your interviewees are willing enough to take the time to video their responses?)

Bob again xD: how much would it cost to rent the film equipment??? If it's pretty cheap, maybe we could do a test run at one of the minor tournaments so that a) we can see how easy it'd be to film everything, b) come up with the best way to film what we want (stationary cam vs roaming), and c) teach a few others how to use it, so that you don't have to bear the whole burden of videoing EVERYTHING (unless you want it??? :p)

Bob i don't really get your thing. Do you interview like a famous guy in the smash scene in Australia and people ask them questions and they give answers?

You are good at doing stuff so i would go with it if you have the time to.

I think Richard might be able to do the same Vlade. I seriously think most of us give up while vsing sam since we know there is no use. I give up like 2nd stock then 3rd stock come in hard. lol.

Woah 35-40 imagine your time on Twilight Princess then MTGod :p.

Yeah, I think he meant that the public votes for the person they'd most like to see interviewed, and then when one is chosen, they submit questions to Bob who will then pass the best ones onto the interviewee...

I think I did pretty well vs Sam... for the first 3 seconds... in other words, before he pulled out his first bomb... then it was pretty much me dodge rolling to stay alive, which worked for about 20 seconds before he realised that was really the only manoeuvre I knew :p But now I've discovered the magic of down dodges!!! Watch out, guys xD

Woah 35-40 imagine your time on Twilight Princess then MTGod :p.
Surprisingly, that only took me about 20-25 xD I think it was the horse ^^" Bah, Persona 4 has by far my top game time at 130 hours xD (on third playthrough, trying to get to like the 4th layer of secret stuff... Seriously, that game has WAY too many endings T.T)

Games that I spent the most on, this is just guessing
Tales of Symphonia - I guess about 150 hrs
Majora's Mask - 120 hrs maybe?
Secret of Mana - 70 hrs

Sounds like good guesses to me :p

How I adored that game, I really should play it again and pass it.
Edit: Just realise those aren't my top

Animal Crossing: Wild World - Around 1000 hrs Id guess
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town: Same

And **** I'm dying for a Marth ditto with Shaya.

Love your time lost to AO Sam_ My biggest loss was 3 years to WoW_ Spent 6 months of like 12 hour days + on that beast_ Those chains have long been broken_

MTGod the film gear won't cost a cent_ All i have to do is book the equipment out from my school and hit up my classmates to come help out etc_ I'd love to have my Redcam by then but i highly doubt it_ If you'd love to know the awsome power of Red then i can talk your ear off about it sometime, otherwise look up www.red.com to behold it's power_ It's been used to make a few movies and Peter Jackson highly endorses it_

<3 your over 9000 devotion to Anarchy. :p

I'm roughly the same as you for those two games (FFX & Lufia 2). My biggest two would be Phantasy Star Online (GCN) - about 700 hours. And Tales of the Abyss, 863 hours exactly (carries over time). The Ancient Cave in Lufia is just..... like.... indescribable how much time I put into that. :p

I should get you into that hard boss hack for Lufia (if you like hacks). It's well done (although only the bosses are harder).

I shudder to think how many hours me and Trill have burned on Tales of Symphonia. Probably close to 600 between us.

I personally would of done about 500 on FF7, hundreds of hours on Suikoden, Breath of Fire, Chrono Cross+Trigger. The amount of Multiplayer hours dumped into Mariocart 64 and Golden Eye would be pretty ridiculous as well.

Though there's a little PC game called Freelancer that my Xfire says I have spent 6000 hours on, but having said that I only used Xfire sporatically whilst playing the game :D

OH!!! And we need more confirmations for Friday night, should be a good night make sure you get there!

OH and we need more confirmations for friday

speaking of long hours spent on Video games -

Bjay spent like 500 hrs on Pokémon Diamond for the Nintendo tourney which he almost came first in on the last day. Then he proceeded to lose that cart... Very unfortuanate.

Oh snap!!! That's precisely the reason that I don't invest too much time into things unless I have to (I got three back up copies of most of my Uni assignments xD)...

I can't believe how many hours people have spent on their games :O I was going to attempt to get to Prinny Baal on Disgaea, but then I read that you had to get to level 9999 to do it and I pretty much gave up (it took me like 50 hours to get to level 100 lol)... So yeah, for some reason I could never accumulate more than 130 hours on a game, though on back inspection I have quite a few games with close to that amount (ToS, Dark Cloud+Chronicle, FFX, P3+4...) that I just forgot about how much time I spent on... Time flies, huh?? Still need to finish Star Ocean 4 - I bought it, got about 20 hours in and then the Uni Semester started :(

I'd love to play some people in a Shadow of the Colossus speed run :p That was an awesome game xD (Or Fahrenheit!!!! That game is hilarity on wheels xD)

****, these holidays is going to involve a lot of going back and playing these old games xD

BTW did anyone else here about card games on motorbikes coming to the Wii??? Anyone???

Holy moly... I keep expecting it to sprout legs and run around disintergrating people :p Nice camera ^^

Free cameras
Well that just makes everything much simpler :p Hooray for free stuff!!!
