My experience with a random tournament was really fun and hella enjoyable.

Nah single is massively time consuming full stop and we want to leave earlier than normal. 2 doubles tournies + friendlies will do just fine.
And doubles is sooo much more fun in everyway.
I still want low tier teams

im cool for not having singles; id like to finish the year on the high from robocop. and yes, doubles is way more fun. what about three tourneys for the three tiers, with an overall champion awarded at the end? doubles is quick anyway.

I like having PR players not using their main. But stamina teams sounds best, definitely.

At the same time people's names should be pulled out of a hat or something to make the teams random, just so people can't take all the metaknight/marth mains

usually i think if you teamed with or vsed someone enough you could play each other's characters pretty well

but me and jei have very specific roles
i'm sure he could handle the stay away and mush c-stick
not sure i could take 1v2 the entire time with pit

<3 Doubles. If you have the "use eachothers main" thing though, my main is Snake, not Sheik. Nobody uses Sheik.

What if it was done in a method like:

Team A picks character A

Team B picks character B

Both teams must use both of those selected characters. That is true ditto doubles!

This way both teams get a fair call on which characters are used for the match.

Random Character Teams: Random Character each game, one cancel per team per game.
Main-Swap Teams (Teammate): Use the character your teammate mains.
Main-Swap Teams (Opponents): Uses the characters your opponents main.
Ditto Doubles: Both teams use the saem two characters.
Power-Balanced Random Teams: Teams are randomly determined at the start of the bracket, and are paired based on skill to create even teams.
