pre-shoutoutz

texas/southwest is the coolest group of smashers iv ever met outside of the east coast, and they're probably even cooler than anyone outside of PA in my book lol. dojo, santi, hylian, infinity, lee, your all too awesome. whenever i finally conjur up enough money to go to an out of region tourney by flight, texas is my first stop.

get that picture out, it's stretching the whole page

I decided to leave the fellatio slander out of it because it detracts from the actual point that smash players really love to act like entitled punk *****es, which summarizes the WHOLE event aside from the plain fact that chibo's an organizational putz.

also, rykoshet tells it like it is, ****

This all sounds like good fun and all, and I've always wanted to attend an in-person tourney, but seeing how everyone's been acting as a result of a few mess ups here and there, and hearing the rioting on the live stream, it's all a bit discouraging to me, it seems like it could scare away people who've not yet been to in-person tourneys.

People are flaming each other, making rage posts, etc.

People who are lurking threads to get an overall feel for tourney's could potentially be scared off from attending them in-person, although needless to say, I won't let this affect my view on tourneys. (Or atleast I'll try not to let it affect me.)

It all seemed like good fun, even though I watched the stream late Sunday night, but watching mostly money matches was almost raging me a bit, and they raged a few other people, cause in all honesty, they weren't interesting.

It seems the smash community isn't as nice as people have said to me, when something goes awry in an in-person tourney, and that people really turn into jerks because of it.

CHIBO WAS WORKING HARD!? I never saw anything of the sort. It took him 6 hours to start a **** tournament and he didn't accept help at first. On Sunday Alex was doing a much better job and I helped him out. While I was trying to get matches started along with many others I saw chibo sitting on his *** watching a money match. I'm also glad that when he was so "busy" that he had time to walk over to puff and shake his hand after he had just got done running around the venue saying "I beat atomsk" like a 5 year old with turrets syndrome. Theres probably more **** that I can think of that I wont even get into. Idiots, If this is your idea of a good host then you go to his events while others save their money unless he steps it up.

On the plus side I met some cool people but ill wait for a result thread for that.
you see this ppl. this is 1st hand insight on what really went on in the tournament. your right, i did notice him sitting down on the chair alot during the tournament. I guess he couldnt stand cuz he wuz so sick. not to mention if ppl playing friendlies wuz such a problem, he should've gotten ppl on standby and then had 1 of his helpers find a tv that wuz playing friendlies and then remove them. simply going up to a tv and telling ppl to get off the tv cuz its a friendly isnt DOING MUCH for the tournament. you need a tournament match on standby in order for that to work. When D.A. threw tournaments at NYCLAN we did exactly that. as soon as we noticed a friendly being played on a tv we told them to shut it off, or we'll shut it off for them, then we called out a match to be played on that particular tv. and that wuz it. if you didnt have the man power to run a tournament like this then you simply should have set a cap of the amount of ppl that are allowed to come. and its as simple as that. he wuz a horrible TO and those ppl that didnt even GO, but think he's a good guy cuz they know OF HIM or ran into him in a past tournament, need to stop making excuses for the man cuz you werent there.

I know this is somewhat delayed
But ive been terribly busy

I'll make this quick. If you were one chanting, you really should be ashamed.
For those of you who have never ran your own tournament , let alone a national tournament, you have NO idea how much work it is! Now, yes its true that i was unable to attend this event, which is terribly unfortunate because i think i could have helped alot, but you have no right ot bash chibo. If i am correct CoT4 was the second largest brawl tournament of all time (in the US at least) maybe melee too? Thats incredible! Running that? NOT EASY
Lets jump back a year and a half or so, im sure some of you remember Viva la Smastaclysm, want to know how stressful that was for me? I spent months planning that, drove hours to pick up and drop off people at the airport, and spent hours setting up and breaking down. What happened, somebody stole 1k out of the pot, forcing me to short the venue on the money i owed them, and even pay out money from my own pocket! now whats wrong here, I spent my own time, and money doing something for the community, and the community walked right on me (the community can be one person)

Stealing Wii's needs to stop, i will be proposing a wii check in system, that will not allow players to leave with wii's without checking out with a TO at the door. All wii's at events will need to be marked. This is just insane.

But of course it gets worse
Now when i heard chibo had to get escorted, i got rather upset, the man who is working his *** off to give you, the community a good time, is scared for his life to go outside?
Come on guys, this is unacceptable.

Dont do this again. We are a community that is respected by many. Evo says we are a model community, and MLG supported us for years. Please, please don't change their opinion.
And old school players, you cant blame this on the new players, its everyone.

On a happier note.

Solid Jake, I don't know how you can say that if you weren't there. Obviously when you were running a big tournament you did all that stuff, you did a good job. Chibo undertook the responsibility, but didn't meet the demands. When you start a tournament SIX hours late, you know something is wrong. He screwed brackets and pools up constantly, and I barely saw him trying to bring order. When i saw him he was chatting or watching/playing a match. There were SOOO many other great TOs there, many of which offered their help, and from what I hear some who offered were turned away. When Atomsk brought these problems to him, albeit a little over-the-top (I do heart you Atomsk), you know what Chibo said? "I just don't give a **** anymore!"

I'm sorry, but if you don't know the full story you shouldn't be condemning us all for being angry over these things.

Solid jake he wasnt scared, drexel security seen how stupid they were acting knew chibo had the money, they forced him to to leave at that moment and be taken home. Some of his stuff was still there. Than they finished the tourney at his house.

@punishment your baking jake for not being there when you obviously havent read past pages. Majority of what you said is incorrect. Based on how you said it you seem to be under the influence of Enemy controller. Dont be drugged get facts dude.

I'm finally back, and I have to leave for class in like 20 minutes. Soooooo much crap went down at CoT4, it was ridiculous. I have no idea why, but I had to step up and calm down the entire riot while somehow organizing the singles bracket so we can finish the tournament, and I still had the energy to commentate for like hours without any video feed at all. I'm glad some people think I did a decent job at commentating without video, since I really tried to do my best in the given situation. I really hope someone recorded the audio and sends it to me (and if anyone recorded the chat, too, that would be awesome).

I'll do shoutouts later. I'm just too exhausted right now.
*bows*

I've never seen so many idiots in person before. That was sad completely sad.

Dksmash started it, i have no respect for him. However dk didnt have a gun, he didnt force people to riot. You idiots followed him like he was the cool guy in middle school, **** grow the hell the up. That was one of the saddest thing Ive ever seen in my life. Ive lost respect for so many smasher.

Im not gonna lie, im a kid, 16y/o adolescence who freaking have test the next day in school and I have PSSA tomorrow. I spend a sunday night out know I have to ride my bike home for 30minutes, knowing when I get there I have to take out the trash, take a shower, get in trouble with my parents and still wake up to go to school the next day. I sacrified my entire sunday night, my friday and saturday from my job so I can afford things I need because my parents barely support me. I sacrified this to hang out with people I think are cool, people I actually kinda look up to because I have lack of friends since majority of my time is brawl, school, and work. I did that to hang with people like ninjalink, cactus, chibo, texas people, canada people, and regional people who I thought were so cool.
AND YOU PULL SOME **** AS ****ING THE MOST DUMB **** I'VE SEEN ALL YEAR. Come on!!!!! freaking dance in a circle screaming “money back”¿?¿?
People in SBR participated in it, you people are so sad. Your pathetic, and your grown. This coming from a child. Grow the **** up.

I'm done

Edit: Because Im deprived from using the computer in my house, i bought wii internet channel and typed this all up on a wiimote.
This is one hell of a post.

With the massive amount of people there, I'm a little sad for not meeting/establishing friendships with enough people. It's what I get for being a nobody in a national tournament scene. I did try to get friendlies in with different people, and I hope I acted cool to everyone. For those who don't remember playing/seeing me, I was the one with the Ganondorf pimp image on my shirt, used the "Manly" tag, and primarily used Ganondorf.

If even one person who played me thought, "man, that guy plays Brawl like a real man," then my ambition is complete.

Shoutouts to come in the results thread, but GOTM and Ultimoscout are awesome people.

Dude I was there for most of it lmao. I'm friends with a lot of EC but when Atomsk was telling Chibo problems, when Chibo wasn't doing what I felt a good TO should do, I was there.

I'm not saying what we did was totally right, but I'm also not saying it was completely uncalled for.

You know what I was there and I will say what I said before. What happened was a shame and I can only speak for myself and , at most , crismas. Yes things were not handled correctly and Chibo may have taken the reigns a bit to unwisely but, at the same time, I do not hate him for what happened nor do i dislike him. He still did something none of us ( inlcuding me ) has done and that is generate hype like no one has ever seen.

I cannot and wont defend him but I will say that I will still go to his tournaments and I am saddened by everything that happened on both ends. I will not point out names nor will I bash people. They did have a right to be upset. Could things have been handled differently? Very much so and a lot of things could that whole weekend.

BOTTOM LINE IS THAT WE CANNOT LET ONE EVENT RUIN THIS COMMUNITY WE ARE THE BEST COMMUNITY OUT THERE...LETS MOVE ON AND LETS , FOR ONCE IN THIS ENTIRE THREAD, DO SOME SHOUT OUTS, TALK , AND GET HYPED FOR ECRC EVENTS AND GENESIS. COT4 IS OVER AND DONE WITH...TIME TO MOVE ON.

From the Peachy boards:

Might been the worst tourny I ever been too. Here is what happen.

the tourny I should have made it into brackets. I fight this one guy, He beat me the first, I beat him the second. The third he picked meta and picked nofair. The it went to the last stock. The guy planked me for a whole min till time ran out. He can NOT do that. So I went to the loser who runs the tourny and he being a lazy ****, said it was legit. I have people who saw the matches. He with all that him and other people who were not there agreed that he gets that win. This also happened to Ninjalink in brrackets against Dojo's meta. Tsomething that was illigeal went on and he gets away with it. If he would have gotten the DQ for that match, I would have made it into brackets.

But that was not the worst part, I load my bags on the bus. Then go inside to see if the bus was heading to N.Y. Look back and the bus was leaving. I chased it but it was too far.I go back and tell them to stop the bus. Lady said some crap and said she was calling. I waited and it never showed. My wii, cloths and my stitchface pillow. I have one last shot. Thebus was not even going to N.Y. it went to DC, I am gonna see if a smasher from DC can get my stuff, and next tourny I do too I'll get it back from them.

So I was stuck in the city. called ninja and stood where he is was and going back with him and the rest of N.Y. I'm hoping my bags are at DC station. I have a few smashers who can get it.

so I lost my stuff, had a horrible nite and got cheated, illigeally cheated out of brackets. Seriously, this stupid game is not worth all this ****, even for my nintendo character.

I would like a full explanation of how I wasn't dealing with problems at this event because I feel everything you are saying is 100% false.
Surely there are some things I could have done better, but your making it seem that I did no work and did everything wrong.

Ive heard enough stories
im not saying anybody is wrong or right for being upset
Because from what many have said, yes, the tourney probably could have been run better
But im saying a public act , chanting outside, is just too much

Regardless, its over, just hyped for the next 2 events.

Can someone give me the gist of what happened during the riot? Fear, Kadaj, Famous and I had to leave before it occurred.

Yeah, we can be, because in was there. first off eat some of this for mind

#1 - Chibo messed up brackets?
Well, i guess samurai panda and alpha zealot and chibo dont know how to run tournaments either do they? Hell, they even went to m2k when they didnt know where to put someone, secondly, when ya'll are *****ing at him for taking too long why you *****in when you get what you wanted, your ****ing pools and brackets half *****, maybe next time pre-reg like normal people and stop *****ing when you don't do **** to help out.

#2 - Chibo was playing a match
So who gives a ****, ****it, can't he play too? Most of the time when he wasnt playing he was checking brackets and walking around trying to make sure **** was running right.

#3 - Chibo was late sunday
Yeah, but what the **** did it matter, when they were trying to tell people where to go in what pools some *******s even had enough nerve to tell dotcom they didn't give a **** and kept on doing their own business. There is NONE NO REASON to put the blame on anyone, sure, maybe chibo seeded too many people, maybe it took to long to get started, but seriously people, you didn't ****ing help much.

There's so much more **** i heard people saying at this tournament, but, with guys needing to be called 50x to get to their brackets, people not listening to when their pools were called *i dont know how many people i had to lead to the proper table/t.v. because they werent ****ing listening to directions, which just pisses me off. Sure, i may just be the short kid with the lisp who was there but my god people, a ****ing riot? Get real. If everyone just helped a little bit like telling people where "saidpersonwas" (chudat knows what i mean with lucas) pools and brackets coulda gone faster and easier. Nuff said.

Well, on a side-note, since their was a riot does this make gaming an official sport? Also, i got in ahella good amount of friendlies myself when there were no brackets going, sure, maybe it's not pools or brackets, but half the people *****in, did u even make it to brackets?

I'm gonna be as honest as I can. Ill admit right off the bat that I'm brand new to the smash community and I cant currently fathom what Chibo and other TOs go through.

I saw things (I believe) he did right and wrong, and I think we were all a bit hasty in blaming him for what happened. He said he tried to get the owners of the venue to let us stay, but they were the ones being *****. Chibo continues to look out for us and people tell him to suck a ****, and eventually things come close to a riot with the cops taking people away. Whatever mistakes Chibo may have made, did it really have to come to that?

I think Chibo did a pretty good job considering he was hosting one of the biggest tourneys ever, not to mention being sick, and he was helpful in helping out me, the newbie (So was everyone though). But I would have done three things differently:

1. Post the pools and brackets on a wall instead of calling out names. No offense Dotcom, but when names are just shouted out, theyre very easy to miss, and take a long time. I wasted half an hour trying to figure out what pool I was in, turns out I was in pool 3. How hard would it have been to simply scotch-tape the matchups on a wall and let us go read them? IMO that would be much simpler.

2. Divide the work. This has been stated many times. From what I understand, Chibo did have people helping him out. But I think things would have gone smoother with a few assistant organizers, or even a few co-organizers. Correct me if I'm mistaken here.

3. Don't use a venue with such an early letout time. Yes, it's a beautiful venue and convenient location, but when you have 200 or 300 people, there's a lot of room for random **** to happen that may cause huge delays. Again, dividing the work load may have reduced this problem a little, but it's always good IMO to be prepared for anything.

Again, I'm new, I have one tourney under my belt and I'm sure everyone here knows more on this matter than me. This is simply my opinion, and I've tried to keep it at a neutral perspective. Overall, though, I had a blast at COT4. Maybe it's because I'm not as competitive as some of us are, but the point is that I came, I had fun, I met fellow smashers, and I walk away with nothing but good feelings (and a neat nickname lol). And Chibo was the man who made it possible, so lighten up on the guy for not doing everything perfectly. It never would have gone where it did if we all hadn't expected nothing less than perfection.
