Things you can't counter

Alright, I use the counter as much as possible, because I love it. The counter is my mother and father, my cat, and also my sixth-grade history teacher.
I even use it in real life. Someone tries to punch me, I pull out my sword and block it. Someone calls me a shut-in loser? I just block it with my sword, then shout something in Japanese and hit them.

But the more I use it the more I realize that, unlike most moves in the game, it doesn't work against a number of things. Thus: I'm compiling a comphrensive list of Things You Can't Counter. To begin:

-Link's bombs
-Samus' Zero Laser
-Spikes
-Food

And so on until we list everything uncounterable. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Uhh... do you mean that you won't hit them back if you do counter it, or the counter won't work at all and you'll take damage?

Flaming someone just cause he spams counter is just downright awful. The guy can do whatever he wants, if he wants to spam counter, let him.

You might want to add PKT tail, as Marth counters but gets stunned anyway (not a good thing) when it is under him, or in very rare case, triggers the counter and turns the head towards Ness or Lucas for a free PKT2.

The first hit of multihit moves will still hit, but if the move is still active after Counter is over, the remaining hits will do damage.

The counter is a great move, and there's no reason not to overuse it, it you're good at it. Stop assuming he is a bad player when you don't know his ability to use the counter.

Would the perfect match NOT be countering every attack your opponent throws at you, and killing them from the damage dealt from said counter? I think not.

But anyways, counter really isn't a move to be abused. If your opponent is THAT easy to read, then you should be able to beat them without counter anyways, or you can probably find a better move to use in it's place where you can actually do a tech chase of sorts(or at least keep pressure constant). Counter has uses. Counter is not even close to being one of Marth's most useful moves.

But I say counter can be useful when used right, like using counter for on a normal hit is useless due to you can't combo out of it, but it can be used as a last resort for stopping a smash or delaying a fall.. Not to forget the usefulness of using it to stop projectiles (even though dodge's can do the same)

actually, you can counter ikes ftilt, i do it to my friend and it really pisses him off when i have like 300% damage and it kills him. The only thing's I have not countered so far are grabs, final smashes, and stupid mistakes.

and counter is so underused, it has such high rewards and yet is is vurtually unpunishable, anyone who can counter properly would force the opponent to fight with only grabs, projectile spam, and falcon punches

Yeah, play someone who grabs or knows how to time a Smash. If you get caught on a counter with Dedede or Ike smashing, say goodbye...

And your not forcing them to play only with grabs and projectiles (and seriously, projectile opponents don't approach Marth), your forcing them to **** your *** so hard it hurts.

Once counter can be predicted, your done for, but if used spontaneously, its really good. Not a move to spam unless you want to be grabbed and smashed to death.

OBJECTION!!! Only for charged smash attacks? This is risky because they can vary the time they release their smash attack. Its safer to whip out counter when you know your opponent is going to try and attack. You can even throw out a move with some lag from a short distance just to draw your opponent in for a counter (risky but rewarding). Counter is perfect for making your opponent try and grab more and attack less. Essentially counter is best when used for mindgames and ****** ppl for using their stronger attacks.

You can counter the lava on norfair though. I personally love countering lava. Gives me a sense of awesomeness knowing that a man with a sword can counter a force that burns away anything lol. But you can counter the lava waterfalls on norfair just not when the lava comes up from the bottom of the stage and takes platforms under. You might be able to if you stay on a platform but I think it doesn't work.

Lol you cant counter the counters counter because the 1st counter will take to much time to effectively counter the 2nd counter, which would make a third counter not possible, it is of course possible to make a 3 counter string with 3 or 4 ppl.

BTW bananas are they counterable, because they are projectiles and do damage (think not and I dont play against diddy's)
Mario's side B I think that isn't counterable and if it is Marth turns around so the hit will not connect

Illinialex thats my point it should only be used scarcely and with great prediction. I rarely use counter only like twice or less in a battle and maybe even less.

Okay, both bombs can be Countered without you being punished.
