these are vids of a set in winners bracket at the fredericksburg gamepad tourney last weekend. this has got to be the best run tourney i've been to. you guys need to go to the next one! we had over 40 people and we got through wit single and friendlies before 9pm! and we started late. you serious? anyways, this is my birthday present to Malcolm since he hates the peach matchup, but I think it's "sweet".

Actually i've played the same group of 30 ppl at least 1 time a week. They know Sonic

I purposley SD and cancel at medium distances to bait responces ( I'd much prefer the grab)

Anything can be done to exploit weakness. Be it whst you'd do or not, I've developed it into my own style. I do it diff depending on the matchup. D3?? punish spotdodge/help avoid the CG? Better believe it, xD

Edit: Same group sinve June 08. Countless tournies/smashfests.

They all recognize diffs in spins and ball fofms. Its more of "I can use it in what most think an ill way to mindgame" kinna tjing.

2:10 , 4:05 on the first one was STEAK. LOL. but you got impatient at the end it seems, then all he needed to do was nade camp since you never picked them up enough...



i think you use DSmash a bit wrong though. and you can punish those airdodges more. Sonic can **** snake if he can take advantage of him in those situaitons. also, there is nothing wrong wit you picking up the nades. you have an awesome glide toss, you know.

Im noticing that the Snake matchup vs Sonic, is more even if not slightly in Snakes favor, when played against a good sonic, and its happening more often nowadays. If he isn't up a few tiers then i dunno what to do...

Those matches were from a tourney with 6 snake players. Nope is I believe now considered the best snake in the MW. we faced each other at another tourney a week after these videos and it went to last game last stock both over 100%

I usually don't fight too many good snakes but I really enjoy the matchup a whole lot. Also, I watched this guy play a bit and he likes to pressure the shield if you have a nade in your hand. At the last tourney we went to he got a shield break on me then did jab > ftilt > utilt ouch.


They should be uploading my matches against a wario player in which I spin charge into his mouth over a dozen times but still win because I predict his aerials.

Overall, as I've said, I felt I played much better this week in comparison to my last tournament on the 14th of February.

I'll step it up for the next tournament on the 21st of March... :D

i love watching espy's sonic. he punishes so well. and thats how a sonic should fight a snake: get him in the air, then he gets *****. because no matter how good the snake is on the ground, in the end, they all do the same things when they get sent airborne.

- I noticed you get caught in his jab traps alot. When you get pressured, try to do other things than rolling. Also, don't just hold shield (shield break bait), but don't just roll, either. You can shield drop + run, or just jump, and it sort of nulls some of his jab followups (alot of which depend on your roll's vulnerability and slowdown)

- Pay attention to his C4!! :[ I don't know if you saw them, but sometimes you'd be walking and suddenly - "NOW!" and you'd die.

- Learn Brinstar! Lava got you a few times, though I'd understand if you were pressured. Watch the bridge for when it's not going to let you run over it. If the bottom right side isn't separated yet, you can start a left-facing side-B on the slope and do an invincible spindash roll approach on him. Then there's the D-throw shenanigans on the bridge.

These were tournament matches, I messed up pretty bad and shortly after the match learned to glide toss and remember to think about the timer.

I've only recently started to get back into Sonic, I actually started him using him very early on when Brawl was just a few weeks old in the US but he kind of fell by the wayside when I got enamored with ROB, and only just like...in the past couple of weeks have I become confident enough in him to feel ready to take him to tournaments instead of just wishing that I would. Only recently did I read up on him and learn how to do some of the advanced tech stuff you kids and your technology figured out.

I watched the highlighted match. You started to get more creative after the first stock, a few comments though.

1. 0 tilts - sonic has great tilts and you didn't use them a single time. Learn some combos INTO those grabs you love so much (primarily dtilt for that).

2. Don't be so linear. Everytime you were away from Mario you either went straight in with
a)dash attack
b)spin dash roll
c)grab (that you usually whiffed)

-The mario spot dodged and you really didn't accomplish anything. Try faking attacks more, running past him if you know he's going to spot dodge and then do a reverse grab or just turn around and grab (Cause sonic is that fast and you should do this if he's going to let you) or start a forward b (spin dash hop) which will definitely hit and set up some aerial pawnage.

sonic has good tilts, but i wouldnt classify them as great.

ROB, Marth, and D3 have great tilts, and i wouldnt put sonic in that classifcation

but thats just me...
