Also, I love how derailed this thread got because everyone thinks their Kirby is boss. :D
True. My Kirby is boss, but everyone needs to stop flaming and stuff :o
ChuDat and that guy from Canada that I forgot his name (Percon maybe) are the only Kirby players with accomplishments that matter.
pwned

Though...what "matters" is a matter of opinion.

Also, Overswarm said I'm the best Kirby he's played.
He doesn't play any Kirbys though. He also said I have work to do D: which is true...though impossible since I have noone to play. Maryland/Florida/California people are so lucky -_-

Yah, thats basically what this thread has always promoted...

ron561 I can say that online doesn't count all i want because it really doesn't

And yes the input delay is that bad. You can play ssb64 online with as low as 2 frames of delay in comparison to brawl where the average is prolly 20-25 frames of delay. Brawl delay is stunningly terrible and is very much skill altering. I've lost to plenty of people online where I can almost guarantee you I'd 2 stock them everytime on console.

Until online brawl can get rid of input delay (which is impossible) and starts hosting tourneys for money it really won't matter at all.
LOL @ THAT.

Any George like you said, not everyone has access to a car and what not. Also time and money is a factor..I don't think someone would drive a long ways to get to a brawl tourney they might not even win.Might be fun, still gas is a bit on the expensive side.Especially when your a student

But like I said, the palm beach tourney scene is lacking. Most in person tourneys I see for brawl are usually up north.Tampa,Orlando,Gainesville to name a few.I check the south section every now and then to see if there's any thing going on in palm beach or near my area.

online does count somewhat. sometimes i play people online and i can tell i'm better than them. its not like i think to myself,

"oh, i beat this guy every single time online. but i bet he'd 2 stock my *** in real life!"

And yea, I agree with mr. carter. lack of time is the reason i dont play brawl tournaments. even if a tourney was like 20 minutes away or less, i still might not go, just because i'd rather party on weekends and normally my weekdays have too much schoolwork going on for something as time consuming as a tourney.

online takes little to no time. you can play a good opponent in like 15 minutes.

Thats fine. You guys can play as much online as you like. Just don't expect to ever get on a list of "top kirbies" if you don't ever go to real tourneys.

How well you do under online input lag is completely subjective. There are people like me who can play very well online with the lag I get (which is usually very minor when I play most east coast players) and then there are people like Affinity who get my same amount of lag but can't play **** under it.

Fixed that for ya
Hmm, I thought of adding New York City, actually. I used to live in Connecticut, it was just like 2 hours away from NYC. I wasn't into the smash scene then, though. Especially since I was like, 14 or younger when I lived there.

But yeah. I kinda thought NYC had a good smash scene, I just wasn't sure.

Saying online lag doesn't affect gameplay is a low-level way of looking at things. Even 1-frame of lag will make an impact on a player; to have zero impact you will need zero frames of lag.

Using the fact that a large number of people tolerate online lag enough to play or compete does not justify the fact that there is still lag. The fact still remains that a large portion of high-level players do not play online, or do not consider online play as serious, worthwhile, or competitive as in-person tournaments.

I think the majority of us already knew all this, though.

Like i said though t!mmy

1 frame of lag isn't enough to mean defeat for a person who is obviously the better player online.

If you feel like 1 frame of button lag is to much of a big delay and yet you still continue to sit through that game, that's your fault. That's the problem.I mean if your going to continue to complain about wifi even though you don't take it serious, just hush up about it and stick to offline.

I also don't understand how most people i see who don't take online seriously, continue to complain if they lose to someone they can "2 stock offline".

Nobody would ever complain if brawl only had 1 frame of lag. The problem ron, is that brawl has closer to 25 frames of delay which is ridiculous.

To say that 25 frames of delay does not have an impact on the game is completely foolish.

Not only that, in complete honesty wifi is not an accurate measure of skill unless both players r wifi experienced, even though b/c og the button lag everything is different, prediction plays a much larger key wher eit is more nominal but more importnant in offline play

I play Wi-Fi for fun, not seriously, I used to and I regret it, alot of the people on AllIsBrawl are just campers. Now when I play Wi-Fi its to kill time. All I can say is this. Smash's competitive enviornment is offline in real tournaments, no need to play competitively in a noncompetitive enviornment (ie: Wi-Fi).

PS: I'm prolly the worst Kirby that goes to tourneys lol

Don't forget that you can't mindgame your opponent by talking, when playing online. Like, threatening with violence >_>

Not that I would do that, I'm too nice :D

It depends on what kind of connection you have. You wont noticed the lag when your connection is green and blue. Any connection that is yellow, orange, and red, are unfair matches. So not all brawl online brawl games have 25 frames of delay, some are even worse, or much better. The blue connection has 1-2 frames of lag.

There is also 1 very VERY important detail that has to be considered in online gameplay that occurs often(on Gamebattles, All is Brawl, etc) and that is the fact that PEOPLE LIKE TO LIE. God forbid i havent had at least 10 people dispute matches over a stupid *** rating. That is also the main reason i cannot even consider adding info online into the top 10 in the U.S. Also imagine a money tourney online for brawl. People without recording devices would be vulnerable to all sorts of fake matches recorded and other things. How would you be able to record it as the tourney hoster? You couldnt spectate all of those matches at once.

I was reading some other boards for other characters, and i saw threads stickied about the top 5 or top 10 players for each character and i was wondering why we dont have a thread like that. SOOOOOOOO...i decided to make one here. Now this is regarding how you rank at tourneys not online. Itd be nice to know the good players in the U.S. and also this will keep the forums interesting. :D

Now then from my own knowledge all i have is(in no specific order):

Chudat
T1mmy
Gonzo
GeorgeTHPS
Gness
PIMPSLAP
Twilight Kirby
~KoS~ Kirby
JLB Future Champ
Storm92
Percon
Asdioh
and i guess myself kinda as far as tourneys go.

Remember, this is offline, not online. Does any1 else know any good tourney players and do you happen to have good vids of them? That way we can start a little top 10 thread. And we can update it as time goes by and more tourneys go by. What do yall think of that? Would yall be willing to help out w/ this top 10 ranking system?
where did these names come from? if you dont mind me asking

It came from Kirbys who are just well-known, and Kirbys who nominated themselves with a bit of backup.

By the way, here are the only vids I managed to get on my camera at my recent tourney:
West (Kirby) vs Smash64 (Ness) 1 and 2 of 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OtY87ijU40 match 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdoebyz_DRo match 2

West (Kirby) vs Ignatius (Meta Knight) 1/3 (I won round 2 vs Fox and round 3 vs MK)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoxfj0DSp3M

It's me LOSING so I'd say I'm probably not in the top 10 (though I do have the potential to be) but it allows you to see how good my Kirby is offline..my only offline videos atm.

These are names ive witnessed myself being in at least more than 1 tourney(thro smashboards or AiB tourney results and/or videos) or people who have let me know themselves with proof that they do represent kirby at tourneys. Some of them are from my state and others range from florida, california, and other states. Its basically just to let the people who play kirby as a main know that there are players that represent in tourneys(big or small) as kirby, and at times win, or are high in the placings. So i put their names in.

I did this because i notice that all other boards have a good amount of players that are well know for their characters, and the kirby boards was kinda lacking that kinda support and information. Hence this thread I created. Bah i ranted on again. I really need to work on that.

This

Another example of a person who doesn't even notice.

If your getting that much lag in games sheer, something's wrong with you or the other persons connection.

I Usually play people I have blue or green connections with.I never notice any problems whatsoever. If i'm playing some random guy I met in free play on AiB,I still never notice any lag for the most part. However, there may be some slow down that might occur during the games, but it's smooth for the most part.

I fail to believe your playing people with blue or green connections if lag you don't even notice is some how making someone you claim your better than offline beat you.

As the Governator of California would say,
stop whining!

Anywho, I just thought about it...and I'm going to have to say I'm the best Kirby in Indiana.

XD I've never actually MET another Kirby in Indiana, but the chances of there being another good one in this crappy state are low :p

Go ahead and take a break.Just because i'm not another one of those sheep and have my own opinion shouldn't stop anyone from posting here.Soon as you leave the board will be at your entire mercy again begging you not to go.

uall don't understand that unless your playing in some serious lag, wifi isn't stopping you from beating someone you are better than.

No one is trying to make online more competitive than offline. The point is half of you on this board believe the button lag is so super bad. We've already established offline is the better way to play real matches.Calibur said himself,if it's blue or green, you won't even notice it.

Like I said,I fail to believe your playing people with blue and green connections and experiencing massive button lag.

i notice delay with blue and green connections its everytime 0,5-1 sec delay! -.- Online = less skill its my opinion u need just to camp and smash or spamm attacks but i like to play online because i can play with several players in the world and i try evertime to play normal but if i try to play normal , i lose 100%...remember its just my opinion!^^ ( sry about my bad english)

Ive been thinking of it for a while as well. I wasnt sure how to bring it all together, but i think i have a fairly good idea how to now. It seems like it would be a good idea. But there would have to be some very organized rules and management concerning the list for online players and how to list them in the top 10. The reason i was thinking of this list was because of the fact that there ARE some very very good kirby players that i have witnessed and played myself online. But these players(although imo would place very well in tourneys offline) dont go to tourneys offline. So heres what i was thinking: I also play online just as much as i do offline, however my thoughts on skill for online and offline is still the same. BUT, not everyone thinks like me. What ive decided to do is to split the first post for offline AND online tourneys.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: If you want to help make the online part of this top 10 work, you have to provide very sufficient information so it wont be seen as fake(GB rankings, AiB rankings, videos, links to your profile, the works). If you have more ideas let me know, ill definitely work with them and try to make every1 happy.

As far as I know, I am currently the top ranked kirby on the AiB ladder, my skill is currently just under 1600 (I'll get it higher when I play more matches) and last season at its peak my skill was mid 1700s and my rank was about 40th. However I have no other way to prove my skill, such as videos etc. My goal is to get into the top 30 on aib. should happen as long as I play enough matches.

I know "top 30" doesn't sound that impressive, but theres a ton of people on that ladder.

I see that I'm on the list already smileystation =] thanks.

oh yeah, as far as i know, mrcarter deserves to be on that best online kirbies list as well.

EDIT: here is my AiB profile: http://www.allisbrawl.com/profile.aspx?id=6863

EDIT 2: I think Deg222 either doesnt play anymore, or barely plays. I rarely see him in the chats.
